Through my trials and tribulations, I've finally found an amazing nail shop in the city. My friend recommended them and ever since going, I'm all in as a loyal client. The shop is right on Fondren with plenty of parking available. You can walk in or make an appt ahead of time but they always have some availability. The shop is clean but there's no extra frills to distract you like at other shops. They have a few chairs and maybe 3-4 techs working at a time. They offer you a beverage and get right to business. Each time I'm left feeling good because the experience is great. Their prices are similar to old times ($40- gel pedicure and $25- regular manicure). A hidden gem. I stumbled upon this salon to get my nails done a couple years ago before it was Q. Then I discovered that VIVIAN does LASH EXTENSIONS here. She has been lashing for 10 years & does an amazing job. Her RETENTION is on another level. A month & I still have a decent amount of lashes on. She takes appointment via TEXT. Definitely text at least 2 weeks in advance cause she is always BOOKED UP. The salon has since been renovated & her brother BI is now the owner. He is also very skilled at his craft. He specializes in designs & he's very meticulous. His paint doesn't lift which is so important cause I hate it when my hair starts getting caught under my nails. The salon is a little smaller with 6 pedicure chairs & 4 manicure stations but they get the job done. I have yet to get a pedicure here but that is next service. This is my go to salon. I hate cheating on them when friends want to go to other salons but I always come back. This is probably be my place for life. read more

I have thin long hair that just gets really tangled and dirty quickly which gets tiring when I'm busy or just in those unmotivated episodes (we all have them where we struggle to do things cmon). I come here for a wash and Helen really takes care of my hair! I don't give my hair the care it needs sometimes but here, they shampoo, condition, hair masks, brush, and blow dry/style! It makes my life easier and my hair doesn't get oily and feels great. I also got a trim which was very affordable. I went on a Friday afternoon and there was only one other customer so I was helped quickly. I got dip and after I selected my color, the technician tested the color on a fake tip to ensure I would be happy with the color I chose and when I waffled a bit, he tested similar colors for me to choose from. He was very thorough and did excellent work. The other thing I appreciated was seeing them sanitize the station after the other customer left. My friend's wedding is coming up and I needed to find a place close to work to get my nails done. With the help of trusty ole yelp, Nancy's Day Spa came up. And whaddya know, my name is Nancy too! I usually filter out places like nail salons that have the most ratings. 5 nail places popped up and this was a 10 minute drive from work. Let me just say that I love being the only customer cause all the attention is on me with no distractions. That doesn't mean I came to a place that looked empty, that just means I didn't have to wait more than 20 minutes to be serviced. I came in as a walk in. Vy worked on my nails. She was so careful in cutting my cuticles and she really took care of me. I'm not much of a talker when it comes to getting my nails done at nail salons (I don't go often) but for some reason I had a good conversation with her. Sometimes its hard going to a nail place when the workers know you're Vietnamese too. But that wasn't the case. I just got a simple French shellac manicure. And it looks great! This place is definitely on my bookmarks whenever I need a treat yo self day after work. Vy hopes that I come back again, and I hope I do too. Update: couple minutes after I posted my review I've got a text from Vy K. (aka Nancy, aka the owner) to my phone with the following: "l hope one day you have a Business . And l wish you will have all the customer very bad and mean like you !!" (See picture attached). You had your chance to have me as a customer! But you were "very bad and mean" to me. Take responsibility and learn from your mistakes to do a better service in the future. Original review: Rude staff, they are stuck up and don't care to gain/keep their clientele. I called on Saturday to find out whether I can come to do shellac nails the same day, and how they remove the old one (I don't like to soak my nails in acetone). I was very specific confirming the way my old shellac would be removed and who would do it: I had a particular technician in mind. I was told to go ahead and come, and possibly needing to wait a little bit. I came in, there were ZERO customers inside. They asked me what I needed, I explained I had called and who I would like to do my nails. They sat me down to have ANOTHER older woman to remove (file down) my shellac. Filling down must be done very carefully not to damage my natural nails, that is why I was particular and specific about who I wanted to be my technician. I explained to them again my position. One of the women started yelling telling me the older lady would only remove my nails, as if she didn't hear what I was saying! I'm the customer! I want what I want, or don't do it at all. A technician I wanted came out from the back, and asked what I needed. The woman who was yelling at me, started yelling in Vietnamese again, what I guessed, complaining about me. The technician told me to have her mother remove my old shellac, I told her I didn't want that way, but rather wait for her. She said she would be done around 6:30, I said I would come back. But was told "no, we would close". Then why are you saying you would be free, and moreover told me over the phone to come in?! I said ok, I would go to a different salon, the technician said she didn't care and walked away. So sick and tired of a lot of nail salon owners/technician being rude, forcing us to follow what they want to do, and simply arguing and arguing. They are not humble and take business for granted. I would rather be looking for a great salon for months than tolerating that kind of treatment and attitude. Luckily I found a great salon/technician close by the same day, and they were less expensive than salons in the area! Mi at Prestigious Nails (inside Salon Park) did an amazing job on my nails! She was also very careful and patient removing my old gel by filing. I saw they would be closing in about 20 min, but I called. Nikki (I think the owner) was pleasant over the phone and told me they would take care of me after my particular questions. There were 3 technicians, they were busy, but Mi became available soon. I've had so many bad experiences with nail techs cutting me that I would rather go without a mani pedi than go to someone without referral or great reviews. I have been Vy's customer for almost a year now and I absolutely love it here! I've been getting eye lash extensions for a couple of years now in general. I use to frequent a lash extension chain with a subscription plan and I HATED it. I'm so glad I have found this gem of a place. The prices are very fair and the quality is great!! My lashes used to get worn out by extensions because it would be too heavy at the other places I've been and I would have to take a "break" to allow my natural lashes to rest. Like I said, I've been going to this place for almost a year, if not over a year already and my lashes are still going strong! These lashes last me for 3 weeks at least, if not 4. I get the natural classic lashes for my everyday look. If you would like volume lashes, the "3D" lashes cost more. Vy is the only person who does the lashes here, so you have to book an appointment ahead of time as she has many customers. She does everything from haircuts, nails and eyelashes. With everything she does, she is very thorough with her work, which is something I absolutely love! I can always expect quality work every time I come. She is very sweet and always makes conversation when she can tell you're in the mood to chat. She is also quiet when she knows you just want to lay back and relax. Prices are discounted from Monday - Wednesday and bring cash! Overall, I would definitely recommend this place fo anyone looking for affordable eyelashes as an everyday look. read more

I decided to come here after reading great reviews. It did not disappoint! A friend and I came in for a nice girls day and the salon was quiet and relaxing. Vi, who did my French shellac manicure was very sweet and polite. She did a great job on my manicure and I am very picky. I paid $50 in total for a shellac French tip and a regular pedicure. The price was unbeatable! My friend and I were both impressed and will be back. Update: So 3 days have passed, and unfortunately my shellac has started to peel on a few fingers. I noticed that a small amount of paint was cured into my skin causing this. Even though this is disappointing, I still loved my experience at this salon and will go back but for a different service. I've had shellac done at many different salons and it usually ends up peeling. Every small imperfection can cause peeling and I think there are just better manicure methods out there. read more

Wow when I say I've been looking consistently over the years for a great lash lady at a great price and finally found her :) Full sets here are cheaper than most refills elsewhere...AND she does an amazing job! She takes her time, is gentle, and so darn sweet! I will never leave Nancy's lashes as long as Vy is there. I get mine refilled twice a month because my lashes grow so fast and I work out a lot so sweat will get in them. Even washing them doesn't help after the 2 week mark but shoot, my 2 refills a month STILL costs less than another lash studio's 2 weeks refill alone. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! read more

On the eve of Christmas Eve, Jeff C. had his first pedicure experience, and all he could say for the rest of the day was that his toes "slide past one another like never before!" (A good thing!) I got a manicure, and both of us happily showed off our glamorous digits as we rode off into the sunset :D The manicure starts with a warm soak, and then they start attending to your finger nails~ She definitely knew what she was doing, as all her motions were swift and practiced. No accidental cuts or nicks, score. The lady was really nice for using the little light machine to set my nails (she said it usually is an extra charge), so that I could go about my day without waiting for them to dry! I loved the lotion massage on the arms and hands afterwards.. so relaxing! Jeff reported his pedicure was pretty cool-- they had him on a massage chair, groomed his toes, and did a salt (?) scrub on his legs as well. Noice. My nails are still shiny and in good shape, wheee~ The workers are friendly and efficient, and most speak English. The base manicure is $14, and the base pedicure is $22 (tip not included). They take credit card for more than $10. Although a little of a drive for me, I would return to Nancy's for their stellar service and great prices! ^^b read more

This review is solely for their eyelash extensions: I have been on and off with eyelash extensions because of the market price ($$$$) and have been going to a friend of mine's to get them done. I hated having to wait and working around her schedule so I did a little research and found this gem through a friend of mine. Just because your friend can do eyelashes does not mean they can do them well...I learned that the hard way. My friend has been using thick/heavy eyelashes on my small eyes and basically ruined my lashes. However, Vy showed me and told me what all can be done and was still able to make my eyelashes look amazing! She put on thin fluffy ones that made my eyes look big and not as heavy. I don't even feel them at all! I am in awe of Vy and cannot wait to come back in a couple of months again just for her (she advised me to take a 2-3 month break from extensions). My eyelashes look great and I'm constantly getting compliments on them. The prices are extremely reasonable but bring cash if you want it to be a tad bit cheaper :) read more
