Although, if you've made so far as to read reviews, I suspect you already had an idea of what you were in for. I actually dig the Putting Edge. It's one of the few activities other than eating that don't make me nervous with threats of injury, embarrassment, or loss of significant wealth. Like any other mini golf, you can truck on in with your whole crew, pick up a putter, a neon ball, and a score sheet and you're off to the greens. Er...darks. The skill level required to have fun is nil. Seriously. The holes aren't any more or less complicated than your average, meaning that with the right luck (or wrong luck depending on how you look at it), you can get PWNed by your five-year-old niece just as easily as you can win it all with your own mad skillz. The only downside for me is the pacing issue. If you're playing with four people, you're always going to have pairs breathing down your neck or asking to play through at every turn. This isn't a huge deal, nor do I think there's any real solution for it. Still, it's hard to relax and enjoy your hour or so with friends when you feel like you're holding other people up. read more

My visit here was part of a surprise birthday extravaganza for my friend. She had no idea what was going on, and when we pulled up, she exclaimed, "OH MY GOD GLOW IN THE DARK MINI GOLF!" 29th birthday is the black light birthday, don'tcha know? There were ten of us, so we split into three groups. The black light artwork on the wall is extremely trippy, and gets moreso as you play through (I won't spoil it, but make sure you look around at all the trippy art.) This place is a lot of fun. If you have a fairly decent-size group (6-8), you can stretch out your bang for your buck by easily spending two hours weaving through the neon jungle in the dark. Just be thoughtful and let others play through if you're taking a while at each hole. The "DJ" suffers from split-personality disorder, I think. Sometimes we go and listen to the same Glee album on repeat. Other times it feels like you've been transported to the Dome with synth beats and barely-beeped expletive-filled rap. Good thing you're not here for the music. If you really want to stretch out your time there, take advantage of the arcade in the lobby. I would recomment the hoops game; if you get your timing down juuuuust right, you can score a nice stack of tickets to cash in for candy or glow in the dark paraphenalia. The thing that confuses me the most about this place is their special that is a round of putting and a beverage. What's confusing is that you're not supposed to drink inside the course, and there's no place to put down your drinks when it's your turn to putt. So why bother? Wear lots of white, keep your purse and coats in the car to avoid carrying anything you don't need, and just have fun. read more

My nemesis: Putting Edge. Its accomplices: my children. Putting Edge and I don't get along well. Dark confined spaces with weirdly-coloured backdrops combined with ear-shattering music just isn't my idea of a swell time. It is, however, for my kids - which is why we go. Honestly, there's not much better to do on a rainy summer day than to get inside and burn a little energy with extreme mini-golf like that at Putting Edge. Each hole is challenging in a unique way: do you have to putt through the tunnel? is the green slanted away from the cup? These are all factors to weigh when lining up your shot. Putting Edge is best on a weekday afternoon, when there are less people clamouring for you to move onto the next hole. It seems to be particularly popular with the 10 to 14 year old set. The price is reasonable and it fills the void in a city with little inside entertainment outside of theatres. If you can hack near-darkness and pounding music, you might even have a good time! read more

This is a super fun place where anyone can play and have fun. It is awesomely decorated with glow in the dark everything, and has 18 fantastic fun holes. I definitely enjoy the loud pop music that keeps you dancing while you wait. They also have an arcade in the lobby which is pretty stocked. was a really cool experience with our friend. It was something you wouldn't expect to see in Nova Scotia, but maybe somewhere like Florida. I really like Putting Edge and make a trip or two every few months. It boasts 18 holes spread over two stories with every square inch glowing in neon fluorescent glory. It's usually quite empty so bringing a big group has never been a problem for me. Although I've been more times than I can count I still haven't mastered the course and find it equally as challenging every time. Every few months they seem to put up coupons on Groupon or Team Buy, which can make for a cheap night out. The only caveat I have is that the music is quite loud, so don't go if you have a headache. I made that mistake once. I've also never seen anyone get a hole in one on the 17th hole. That thing is tough. Putting Edge is a great date idea or group outing because who doesn't like mini-putting. read more

I'm almost embarrassed to say that I'm willing to spend a Sunday afternoon at glow-in-the-dark mini-putt, but aw, heck! Who cares? It's actually a lot of fun, and the glow in the dark setting is pretty entertaining. So, if you feel you need an excuse (young children, nieces, nephews) to go, let yourself become a kid for an afternoon and go get your glow bracelet on with some friends, no small children required. The Putting Edge can be a hilarious time, especially when you're with a group of people in their mid-20s to 30s celebrating a birthday after a bender of a night. For some reason, I have been to this mini-golf attraction a couple of times; never with children and always on a whim. Last time I went, it was touch and go at first. Everyone was feeling pretty spent from earlier celebrations and the attitudes of the girls who assisted us were far from pleasant. Nothing like living the teen dream, working in Bayers Lake at a mini-golf center - so I suppose I shouldn't be too hard on them. But seriously, they were pretty jerky, with no time for questions and a "you're really bothering me" vibe radiating like whoa. After an unpleasant employee interaction, the four of us ventured into the black light paradise, music blaring and eyes-a-squinting. It turned out to be pretty funny, and some of us turned out to be pretty good (us not necessarily implicating me in this equation). We were passed by eager children a few times, and were asked by the employees to speed up; apparently, being leisurely and enjoying the company of friends is not on the docket at this joint. There are some weird rules about how many people can play on a team and they do patrol, so make sure you're not caught playing out of turn or you may get into trouble. All in all, if you're going for a larf and aren't taking it all too seriously then I project you will have a dandy time. Just don't hinge your hopes on grand customer service, because you may be sorely disappointed. read more

Just don't wear black...I'm serious. I love Putting Edge. It's the only place in Halifax that has glow-in-the-dark mini-golf and its a blast! Great first date idea because you get to have fun and if you aren't one of those annoyingly competitive people, you'll have a successful first date. I'd say I go here once every year or two with friends or when I try the dating scene in the city. Its extremely inexpensive at $10 and is a good alternative to going and seeing a movie if you have to make a choice between the two. The staff here are nice enough. Not impressive but never turned me off from coming. They are average but some can also have a fun sense of humor. Don't dare to play against them though because one of them was about to "clean the streets with me," on the mini-golf floor. I have a feeling he would have been good to so I backed down and didn't tempt fate. This is a great place for dates, birthday parties, group events and much more! No one has tried to open up a similar place to the best of my knowledge and it makes sense. I wouldn't want to compete with someone who has been doing it right for a long time. It'd be too stiff competition. However, I do think there is room to have another Putting Edge closer to downtown Halifax so I hope they do a little expansion. But for now, I don't mind making the trip to Bayers lake. read more

Unfortunately the magical world of putting with glow lights didn't exist when I was young enough to fully appreciate it. I've come to this indoor mini putt complex many times while entertaining my sisters or other children that re frequently entrusted to me. I've always spent a fortune on the packages for the rounds of golf, and I also always opt out of playing in favour of watching (and saving the price of an adult pass). If you are planning on coming with a large group of kids, it might be a good idea to call ahead. I was coerced by a group of seven year olds for quarters for the arcade style claw machine games in the lobby until I gave in a spent 12 dollars on toys that were forgotten by the time we got our glow in the dark golf balls. Glow-in-the-dark ANYTHING is fun, really, when you get right down to it. So, it kind of goes without saying that Glow-in-the-dark mini-golf is heaps of fun. The beauty of mini-golf is that anyone can play it, and everyone seems to be competing at the same level. Oh, sure, there are probably some serious golfers who might take it as seriously as the real game, but for the most part, it's anybody's guess whether the 7-year old or the 70-year old in your group is going to win. Putting Edge is great for Birthday Parties. The staff is excellent with the kids. They have different packages to choose from. Provide you a room, and take control of the gang. It is great. When we were there it was pretty crazy with parties. But all were having fun. They will allow you to bring in Pizza as well. The kids love it and the adults become kids. read more

I have to take some responsibility for not knowing what I was getting myself into..now having said that I still feel like I was held up at gun point and robbed after leaving there today. (That may have been a little dramatic) I took my 6 year old nephew and 4 year old niece, it was their idea, they must have seen the sucker sticker glued to my forehead. Having never been there before I was easy prey. Here is my "beef" $31 buck a roos for maybe 20 mins of play for the three of us, a family price option would have been nice, it was $8.50 under 12, and $10.50 12 and over. I don't want to seem cheap, is it wrong I would spend that on a good bottle of Merlot, but feel I need to complain about spending it on a little game of mini putt putt? Lets take a minute to talk about the arcade games that are in every sq ft of the main entrance and lobby. I am the "fun" aunt so saying no was not an option, $20 bucks later we left with a bunch of high quality candy purchased with our winnings from the arcade game tickets. This is not a bad spot, it was packed, the staff were friendly, they got us in and out quickly, we did not have to wait in between holes long to play, there were a few birthday parties going on, looked like a fun place for that type of thing. My wife took me here today to play a round of mini golf on a teambuy she bought for this place. The arcade will make you deff from the air hockey table banging back and forth but beside that once you get in the door to golf it is fun. I cannot think of anything wrong with the place. Well I'll never go back here again. I took my elementary school aged children for a promised round of mini golf and found out I had to pay for an adult to walk the course and supervise them. This is the first time I've ever been asked to pay to walk the course with them. It's not like we haven't been here before. I was so upset at the entire experience I sent an email to the manger(got no response) and corporate. And this is the some of the response I received... "Putting Edge is not just about mini golf. The Putting Edge "experience" is a combination of colour, activity, imagination, sights and sounds that brings family, dates and friends together. Our goal is to provide a safe, cool and socially interactive "break from reality" for all our guests....... with the majority of other family entertainment venues such as movie theatres, amusement parks and laser tag arenas." First off fine charge me if I'm getting a experience worth paying for. But if your business has had no new updates or care given the experience why am I now just beginning to pay for the same experience I had an few months back when it was free for me to walk with my children. And regarding the other family entertainment charging parents at movies and amusement parks I'm participating. I expect to pay. If I'm supervising them I don't like laser tag, indoor playgrounds trampoline parks etc. thank you but no thank you putting edge we won't be back. And the email response had to be forwarded as an attachment from the president's assistant. Guess they couldn't be bothered to aim for some good old customer service.
