It's got the perfect amount of grit (um, hello, it's in the basement of a Bayers Road strip mall), it's got the perfect amount of kitsch (cartoon bowling pins on the wall, that means you), and it's got the perfect nostalgic '-arama' ending to its name. What more do you want? Like any other bowling alley in the area, it's a little rough around the edges but they really shine where it counts. All other things equal, I always find the staff here both friendly and helpful - two major qualities that their competitors tend to lack. One caveat for those who aren't from around here, it's not king pin bowling. If you're a pro, that might matter to you. Bowlarama-Slamma! Who knew Sunday night was such an eventful time at the Bayers Road lanes. A crew of us 5 extreme bowlers (not really) rolled up to the alley at around 5:30pm. It was super busy with families, leagues and friends having some good old fashioned fun, but luckily we were able to get a lane in no time. The man working the counter was great. He hooked us up with a lane close to the beer section (the alcohol lanes were reserved for leagues) and we were able to stand and have drinks at a personal table off to the side, while we bowled. The whole situation was pretty awesome. Most of us lacked skills, but the supportive nature of the group really made things shine. We were cheering and clapping the whole time, plus laughing at our own follies. Some of my pals ordered food, which was insanely cheap and greasy. The drinks were also cheap, and got delivered to your table! When we were almost done our third string, we were informed that the lane was reserved for another group. We were asked if we wouldn't mind finishing up quickly and we'd be given a discount for the inconvenience! No problem! The service was fab. The fun was top-notch. This is a great night out for every age group. They even has cosmic bowling at the end of the week - Party! Highly recommended! read more

Want a nigh out with your friend and doing something different then the downtown circuit well go to Bowlarama. Yes in the daytime you will often find kids running around at birthday parties but they do contain them to a private room for their cake and goodies. It is actually really cute to watch some throw that balls down the lanes. Saturdays are normally filled with a bowling leagues so it you are going mid day make sure you call ahead as they take priority. Now if you want to wait to night time on a Friday or Saturday and do the Cosmic bowling I guarantee that you will have a hoot. And like someone said that are lanes available so that you are able to enhance that experience with some drinks. Glow bowling is also available where when you wear white it is almost florescent. I always enjoyed some good time bowling and if you get a group together on the right night you can have a blast for under $20. . read more

It's great to visit on a hot day, just to get away from the heat and take in some air-conditioned comfort. If you go at night, the glow bowling is a hoot! Bowling was the one sport I enjoyed doing in gym class. Not because I was any good at it, per se, but because it didn't involve running nor having balls thrown at you. The first thing that I enjoy about the Bowlarama is that their website has the functionality to book lanes online. While it does suggest to book 24 hours in advance, I was able to book two lanes the morning of our party, and received a confirmation by e-mail within minutes. The Bowlarama offers Cosmic (glow in the dark) bowling by 9:30 at night, but on our visit the black lamps were turned on at 8:30. The lanes are clear, the shoes are clean and don't smell, and the chairs are actually comfy for when you need to take your break and record your third strike on the score sheet. There's a soft drink vending machine and a couple of coin-operated game machines, like the Claw. They also serve alcoholic drinks, which while I'm sure would increase the fun factor, would heavily hamper my aim. We all had a great time. For $10, we each got shoes and two strings, which worked out to around two hours of fun! These days, you can't find many cheap fun places for groups or dates. We'll definitely be going again. After a long hiatus from the world of bowling, I made a triumphant return on Friday night at the Bowlarama. And you guys, I don't know why bowling hasn't been a larger part of my life! Seriously, it was good fun. The staff were friendly and fun, and there was a cool game where if you got an orange pin in the centre AND bowled a strike, you won a prize. I didn't, but the raised stakes added an extra oomph of fun to the experience. Our large group had two lanes in the west section, so everyone was able to bowl away while enjoying their favorite cold beverage - always a plus, amiright? Only a few minor things keep this place from the five star score - it seemed a little pricey, at about $30 for two people bowling three strings on a Friday night. I also wasn't sure if I was "cosmic" bowling or not - there were fun music videos playing, but nothing really seemed to glow in the dark. I also had scored a free string of bowling with my first Yelp check-in, but the employees didn't seem to know what that was and I ended up not bothering with it. So needed to get out of my own world for minute. So started the night going to Tim's for a coffee with a friend. Then had the brilliant idea that throwing some balls, down a slippery lane at ten pins would not only be fun, but relieve some stress. YUP!!!! I was right!!! I have nothing negative to say about this place. Everytime I venture underground to the lanes, I instantly become a bowling pro. ( in my own mind). My wife took me out for a 12 year wedding anniversary date bowling and some other fun. I gave her stuff in case you want to send me a nasty message about how I should pay for it etc being my wedding anniversary... I am sad to write this review about our experience and share it with you all. I really had no choice given the situation and feel I am doing someone else a favor to give them the heads up on this one. So we went bowling all went well had fun etc until it was time to pay. We arrived at the desk to check in at 3:15pm and returned at 4:17pm. The rate as we understood it was 12 dollars per hour. My wife was charged for 24 dollars. She asked is it 12 dollars an hour plus shoes and the guy said yes. She paid and we left. But I felt later that night it did not seem right. So I e-mailed what I am guessing is the owner a women named Amie who has her email listed on the company website for this location. I asked her what the cost is and to rent shoes what the cost is. She responded quickly to tell me it is 12 dollars an hour includes tax and shoes. Really? I thought so I then sent her another e-mail describing our experience what we were charged for the time spent etc and that I expected a gift certificate for the 12 bucks... Radio silence. I thought ok how about at the very least an explanation for the extra charge like well Mr. Blendheim you went over the clock walking your shoes back so we billed you an extra hour. So I e-mailed again asking for an explanation at the very least. Suddenly it seems Amie no longer speaks the English language? I hear nothing back. Is this about 12 dollars. Not really it is about customer service and not ripping off women and children which make up most the business the day we visited. If we played for 1 hour 40 mins then yes of course charge for the 2 hours. I think every customer gets rounded up an hour and most either do not keep track or care enough to say anything. This type of business practice is the lowest of the low for a place like a bowling alley. The place was half empty while we played. I suggest if you go agree on the price before walking out to your lane but what kind of fun is that. I think they are taking advantage of people as they know people are coming out for fun and not really keeping close track of time. read more
