In February when I contacted Puts about sealing my pond. He was very nice and came out to look at it. He even gave me tips on how to fix it myself. When I was trying, I ran into some problems, sent him a picture, and he said the tarp needed to be replaced. No problem there. He gave me a quote I was happy with, and I paid. I heard nothing. After a couple days I messaged him, and he said he could not get out to do the job until late May. I was a bit confused since I paid him in mid-March and did not know it would take that long. I would prefer to have been notified that I wouldn't have a pond until then, but even so it was fine. He eventually got an opening sooner and rescheduled me (without actually asking me, he just sent a text saying it was rescheduled to a different day). However, the day of the repair comes and I am wfh to be able to be there when they work. At about 10am I hear people in my back yard. I go out and they are already started breaking down the pond. No one rang a doorbell, no one knocked, they just came and started, I'm glad my dogs were not out in my yard. I guess that is okay, but like it would be nice to introduce yourself since it was not the same people that came out before. So that was weird. After they were "done" they had me come out to take a look at it. Now I want to be clear, the contract I signed said, "Remove stone, liner, replace liner, add padding and replace stones as they were" so it was my surprise to find a couple things. First, the stone was not replaced "as were" because the stone I had before was cemented, this stone was just sat on top of each other with no binding. Then, the extra stone (I don't even know why there was extra stone tbh) and concrete was put into a pile on my porch. I asked if they were taking this away, they said no. Finally, I had paid for a patch to be applied to a separate part of the pond and that was forgotten and they said they would have to come back later to fix that. I messaged the owner explaining my frustrations. He said the patch could be done later that week (it was, however it did not hold water. For some reason he thought that he could patch over creases in the liner). However, for the stone not being secured in place, he said that that is how they do the job, and I was specifically told that. I asked him to show me where I was told that, since the only time we didn't text was when he came out in February and he talked to me about repairing the pond myself, nothing about pond reconstruction. He told me he was "100% sure" that I was told that they don't do concrete. I sent him screenshots of our text to prove that was not said.... He apologized and said it must've been someone else. Then for the rubble that was sitting on my porch (I would guess 150-200 lbs of rock/concrete) he said that they does not remove rubble. I again sent him his own contract that said "Remove stone.... replace stones as they were" In my mind there would actually not be any stone left since it was going to be replaced "as they were" however any concrete or small parts of stones that did not get used would be "removed". After a week of texting back and forth and just trying to get him to do the job he agreed to he finally agreed to remove the rubble and to use "PL Adhesive" on the stones. To finally schedule for them to come out a last time, they would not actually tell me the day or time they were coming out, I either had to pester them once a week, or just wait to hear people in my backyard. I have never had a contractor 1) start on a project without even introducing themselves 2) not hold up to the contract and pushback when proven wrong 3) leave hundreds of lbs of stuff in their clients yard and refuse to take it unless pushed about it. Finally after all this was done he tried to add $190 fee for removing the stone. After a little pushback he took it off. Please, there are many better options for pond repairs, go with them. Finally, I see this owner likes to respond (sometimes very snarky) to other reviews. I hope they can at least appreciate I told the truth. read more
