Immediately after I took their cone off and put this one he looks like a new dog that isn't slowly dying.

Hank, my 3 lb 8 month old teacup chihuahua. I never met the doctor in person, I know when Covid it was ok...we would pass our pup back through the receptionist window or door...then the vet would call my cell from inside without ever talking to me in person... it's located in the back of a pet store and their services are too expensive for the quality of the office.... Since day one , Hank was one month old when I bought him. He's 8 months now- I've been telling the vet he doesn't drink water and I can't get him to take fluids- the vets reply "just make sure he has accessible water bowls".......yeah obviously- 7 months later the vet tells me Hank is dehydrated and now I have to get him a daily IV to prevent dehydration....thanks doc when I told you this 7 months ago...... So my main problem as to why I WILL NEVER BRING HANK BACK TO PUTNAM ANIMAL WELLNESS AGAIN is because: I took Hank to get neutered. As they just neutered him, they asked if they could extract all his baby teeth too at the same time. My 3 lb puppy you want to cut his balls off and rip his teeth out for no reason? Just seemed liked they wanted the money and didn't care about Hank. When Hank returned from his neuter- they didn't have an e-collar small enough for him- I don't approve of e collars anyway and they charged me for it of course, they could have called me and asked me. They also charged me for his micro chip which I didn't even fully understand what a micro chip is? It's not to track him which I thought it was for.... The big e collar they put on him traumatized him and caused him more pain then the neuter. It was tied on with medical guard that was cutting into his skin and restricted his breathing and crushing his esophagus. By the time we got home from the vet- his breathing became rapid and tears and snot were pouring out of his eyes and nose. I had to cut the gauze off with scissors and Hank quickly slipped the collar off his head. Immediately you could see the life return in him. He was slowly suffocating and they told me to keep it on him for two weeks. He would have died because the collar was too large for him he could even reach food or water besides how they tied it on him. The surgical site looked a mess! I couldn't tell where his stitches started or ended. And one stitch looked so tight there is a tiny hole in the side of his penis now. It's been 9 days since his neuter and the hole where the tight stitch is, is very red and irritated. I will be taking him to another vet for now on. I will have them look at hanks neuter and fix whatever you did to my poor pup. I will also have hanks neck examined to make sure you didn't cause any major problems with his throat by strangling him with gauze.

Newtown Veterinary Specialists

I first took my cat here to see an opthamologist last summer. I had taken him to 2 separate vets…read morefor issues with his eye due to allergies and scratching. (We tried a new vet local to us since moving, but decided to go back to the one we trusted, an hour away). Both vets prescribed prednisone drops among trying other things. Our regular vet suggested it was time for a specialist. I'd called several places and no one had an available appointment for months. Some had an office visit charge of $400+ and insisted on doing bloodwork although he already had recent bloodwork done. Finally I called Newtown and got him an appt for the same week, and it was under $300 for the exam. The opthamologist we saw that day is no longer there, but our experience was a positive one. I found out his eye issue was a herpes infection that was not resolving due to the prednisone. Something completely missed by the regular vets. She also recommended entropion surgery for his eyelid that was turned in (later discovering his eyelash had fused to his eye). Fast forward to last week... I brought him back to the vet because of changes in the appearance of his eye. He had a "corneal sequestrum" which is dead scar tissue from trauma. We were monitoring it to make sure it didnt become an issue. Back to the opthomologist in Newtown - this time we saw Dr Crabtree. The cost of the visit was only $202, billed as a followup from last year. I feared surgery, but she told me his eye was attempting to heal itself by pushing out the dead tissue, which was a good thing. Surgery would be $4000, but she is confident he wont need it. She prescribed antibiotics drops but didnt make me buy them there, since I had some at home already. The plan is to recheck him in a few weeks, and remove any loose tissue at that time. Such a relief to hear good news. My worry woth specialists is that they want to do expensive procedures and testing, but this was not the case here. Contrary to another review I read, my cat was treated with care by all staff we encountered.

I got a cut and paste response to this second post after my call and hold . Apparently what I wrote…read morewas not read or responded to personally. Wow. "Pet Wellness Team S. Business Owner Apr 9, 2026 Thank you for sharing your experience with us, Rodney. We are pleased to hear that you have confidence in our doctors, but we understand your frustration with the communication issues you've encountered. Your feedback is important, and we are committed to improving our service. Please call (203) 270-8387 and ask to speak to our hospital manager so we can address your concerns directly. We appreciate your patience and hope to provide a better experience in the future." So I called the next day and was on hold to 7 minutes before being to that you were in a meeting and could not speak with me. They could not have known that in less than 7 minutes? This is exactly the sort of service that is so poor and beneath the level of medical care. Let's see if I get a call back as promised?

Hopefully they take care of whatever the issue is and I can go back without being grossed out.

I called ahead to ask about female hamsters, and they said they couldn't guarantee the gender--which was fine. While talking to the employee about my past experience with wet tail at Petco, she reassured me that all their hamsters were healthy and that there was no chance of any issues. But right as she said that, she went to show me another hamster... and it was dead. She tried to cover it with bedding and quietly put the tank back like nothing happened, but I had already seen and was honestly a little visibly shaken, so she put it aside. She kept showing me the rest like it was normal. I ended up taking one home anyway--her name's Beyoncé and I love her, but it honestly felt more like a rescue than a normal adoption... There weren't many care supply options, and when I mentioned I was waiting for some Niteangel supplies in the mail and needed some stuff to hold her over for the next couple nights, they told me the products in store were so bad I'd be better off without them... which told me enough I don't blame the young girls working, they seemed sweet enough and a pet store isn't ideal for any animal. But definitely would describe the vibe and the whole experience as... strange.

The Place is clean and it's not hard to get in for an appointment. My biggest issue is the turnover of doctors. Once I find a vet they never stay. I like to know my veterinarian and remain with the same person. I recently have been to a young doctor who I really liked and now I don't remember her name and I would have liked to follow her wherever she went. I have yet to find someone I really like in Fairfield county. But GAH so far has been the best option.

One I left because there was a big change in staff and not for the better, the other , the corporate office decided to close my location after 10 months. At that point it didn't matter since my dog had crossed the rainbow bridge. A new four legged furry entered the picture so I now needed a new vet. I came to Greenwich Veterinary Center on a recommendation. Since I had no history for my new partner in crime, I took advantage of their introductory offer for a "free" first appointment, sort of lets meet. The front staff was welcoming. The wait was reasonable. The tech came in brought us into an exam room we informed her we needed to get a baseline on health and vaccinations Karina asked the all important probing questions. Then the vet came in and she took time to perform the 120 point new vehicle check. Once she was done with the initial check up she went over a game plan. As it turned out my dog was mostly caught up with all his vaccinations. My big concern was flea, tick, and heartworm since I did not have any preventive meds and needed to get. At no point did I feel pressured to do anything additional everything was clearly explained. My only issue which mirrors other comments is the costs. Final thought, the facility was very clean and well lit, always a good sign!

He was a 75 pound dog that could not even walk and had to be carried to my car! Later he had trouble breathing and was crying to hours, still dazed and fearful. I wound up taking him for emergency care where he received IV fluids and something to help him breathe better. This was so very unprofessional! I never received a call back when I left a message about his labored breathing or a follow up. In addition, they hired an office manager who could not have been more arrogant, rude, and unpleasant. She made mistakes on mg bill which took her months to correct. Never again.
