Sue came over for the initial meet & greet and learned how to do this, and became an expert! We returned to a clean house (well, as clean as we left it - we're trying to remodel a room, so it's chaos), mail brought in, meds administered, everyone happy. One of the 3 kitties is extremely wary of strangers (EXTREMELY) and gave poor Sue agita since she never saw him, only evidence of him! Communications were absolutely great, we could not ask for better care for our cats!

My call was promptly returned, a convenient time scheduled, and the process discussed. During this time of social distancing, some special accommodations needed to be made, but they in no way interfered with the love my dog received that day. Dr Dale played music made for dogs ears only and was extremely comforting to me as well. She made a clay print of my dogs paw, which I will cherish forever. The support Dr Dale gave that day extends far beyond as she checked in on me and provided access to support groups. When I picked up my dogs remains, they where surrounded by meditation gardens and considering the circumstances (pandemic restrictions) I couldn't have asked for anything more comforting and reassuring that my dog was truly loved and that I had made the right decision. I first took my cat here to see an opthamologist last summer. I had taken him to 2 separate vets…read morefor issues with his eye due to allergies and scratching. (We tried a new vet local to us since moving, but decided to go back to the one we trusted, an hour away). Both vets prescribed prednisone drops among trying other things. Our regular vet suggested it was time for a specialist. I'd called several places and no one had an available appointment for months. Some had an office visit charge of $400+ and insisted on doing bloodwork although he already had recent bloodwork done. Finally I called Newtown and got him an appt for the same week, and it was under $300 for the exam. The opthamologist we saw that day is no longer there, but our experience was a positive one. I found out his eye issue was a herpes infection that was not resolving due to the prednisone. Something completely missed by the regular vets. She also recommended entropion surgery for his eyelid that was turned in (later discovering his eyelash had fused to his eye). Fast forward to last week... I brought him back to the vet because of changes in the appearance of his eye. He had a "corneal sequestrum" which is dead scar tissue from trauma. We were monitoring it to make sure it didnt become an issue. Back to the opthomologist in Newtown - this time we saw Dr Crabtree. The cost of the visit was only $202, billed as a followup from last year. I feared surgery, but she told me his eye was attempting to heal itself by pushing out the dead tissue, which was a good thing. Surgery would be $4000, but she is confident he wont need it. She prescribed antibiotics drops but didnt make me buy them there, since I had some at home already. The plan is to recheck him in a few weeks, and remove any loose tissue at that time. Such a relief to hear good news. My worry woth specialists is that they want to do expensive procedures and testing, but this was not the case here. Contrary to another review I read, my cat was treated with care by all staff we encountered.

My dog loves to go to the vet and never had a problem with getting on the table, I had an appointment a few days after for him to see the vet and he was crying because he did not want to get on the table. We hired Don as a trainer for our very cute but very fear-aggressive bulldog rescue. Lulu had been…read morethrough two homes before ours, and she came to us with some issues. She needed someone who would be patient with her and who wouldn't give up on her, and Don was just that guy.  Over seven training sessions, Don worked with us to introduce Lulu to new people and new environments, making up for some of the socialization that she had missed out on as a puppy. He helped us with obedience work, and taught us tricks for keeping her in control when on walks. Don was so dedicated to her, and it was clear that he genuinely cared for her and wanted to help her be the best dog she could be. We liked Don so much that we also hired him for walks and boarding! Then Dr. Whittington came in and was wonderful taking a lot of time with our pup and explained things to us in great detail. If she's there I think, I said I think, we will be there too. She really is tremendous. The vet assistant was very sweet as well, she comforted and kissed my scared pup while he was getting examined. Yes we were very hesitant to go after reading the reviews but our dog needed a checkup. He also got a yearly exam and 3 vaccines. And I got their flea and tick medicine and heart worm medicine. It was a total of $700 which seemed steep to me but we did to have quite a few needs. So I don't know if it's expensive or not. The front desk needs a better disposition without question. I'm shocked that there are so many reviews about it yet it seems like nothing is done. Odd. I do think they could to sink a little money into the decor. It is old and tired and could use updating. But then again that's not why we're there. We'll go back again bc we are there for the vet, not the front desk people or the tired interior.

During our phone intake conversation, Marian assured me that my priorities would be met: 1) all dogs would be crated during meals to prevent potential aggression, and 2) daily exercise would be provided in nearby national parklands and the lake. Unfortunately, these assurances were not practiced. My dog returned wrung out with anxiety and unable to rest after spending five days in a back enclosure with 30-35 other dogs and not once having been walked. I was told that my dog did not respond properly to the counselors' name calls, which is why he was kept in the backyard. Why not take the dog on a walk on his leash? Town and Country promotes itself as an adventure camp, distinguishing itself from other boarding facilities that keep dogs in yards all day, and charges a premium for this service. Marian had assured me that new dogs would be attached to a 30-foot lead and attended by two counselors when taken out of the yard. Unfortunately, they did not follow through on this "camp" experience.*Marian later contradicted her initial assurance by saying that dogs needed to respond to a stranger's call before being taken for a walk in the park Additionally, upon pick-up, a counselor explained that my dog and another dog had snapped at each other during mealtime because they were not crated. This was contrary to the safety measures I had requested. Bottom line, the promises made regarding safety and exercise were not fulfilled. It appears that only a select few dogs evaluated by them to be "responsive" receive walks. I'm grateful to one of the counselors there who no doubt, acted as an ally to my dog and likely ensured his safety amidst a potentially dangerous environment.

My partner and I each spoke to Marian for a long time and were comfortable that he would be in great hands. We have now boarded him here multiple times and are so glad we did! Marian and her team of handlers are incredibly accommodating to Cassius's special needs and he always comes back happy and healthy (and fresh & clean from his bath!). He gets all his medications and is clearly eating his meals while there - which really shows that he feels right at home. They really are so unique and we are very thankful. I'm sure the hiking and other activities are a blast for the younger dogs, too! We really wouldn't send our boy anywhere else - thank you so much!!
