Did not wait to explain his error to us, and was incredibly condescending and argumentative on the phone. He lied and said he was "just an instructor" and could not give us the same refresher on the rescheduled date, only to later yell about being the owner and saying it was "not going to happen". I can see why they insist on a check or other non contestable form of payment, because I was blamed for not checking the time on the permit when it was his office that scheduled all of our times as they were paid well to do. This "professional" school turned our child's big day into a stressful nightmare. She was able to take the test the following day, causing me to take another day off, and fortunately did pass, coming home to lie in bed and de stress after this unnecessary experience. what a shame, please do yourself a favor and pick any other place to make your student's experience a good one.

When I initially started at Shift Above 2, my confidence level was basically zero due to frustrating and unsuccessful attempts at learning prior. After giving Mike background on my previous experiences and how i was now feeling about learning, he immediately established a comfortable learning environment by ensuring that the pace of the lessons were entirely dictated by my comfort level. In those first few sessions, I really appreciated that he was highly perceptive. ​Whenever I struggled with a maneuver or began to show signs of distress, he didn't push me. Instead, he would alter the current technique or introduce a different approach that was much better suited to my skill and confidence level. This adaptive teaching style was fundamental in preventing old feelings of frustration from resurfacing. I'm a born and bred New Yorker, which means when I moved to morristown from queens I did not have a…read moredrivers license at 30 years old. I've tried. I used a school in queens that had my driver picking up FaceTimes while in the car with me. I was over it, figured I'd never do it. But I was also over losing my independence. Morristown isn't as walkable as queens. So I called A-1 Peck. Chris was my instructor and from the first day, he was wonderful. He knew my area was congested so he took me to a nearby town with wide, empty roads, to help me build my confidence. He was kind with corrections and never made me feel like I couldn't accomplish the road test. He'd listen to me complain, made great conversation, all while giving me the skills to not only pass, but drive with confidence once I got my license. (Chris also didn't look at his phone ONCE unlike my driving instructor in Queens). With Chris' help, I passed on my first try after 8 hours of lessons (plus one hour of review pre test). It wound up being inches of snow for my test, but he helped me navigate that so I wasn't totally blindsided. A-1 Peck has such a great reputation with the MVC, that my tester even commented on how nice of a person Chris is. Really, just a stellar, stellar experience. If I had failed the first time, I would have written the same review, because you know that A-1 Peck gave you the skills you needed. Just a note, there is a cancellation fee if you cancel lessons same day (I think 24 hours in advance is the limit) and book EARLY! This school is so popular that I was scheduling weeks out. If he didn't have patience and guidance what am I paying him for, my specific questions were addressed by telling me to read the driving manual. As I couldn't wait for the class to end, the car's tire had a puncture. We had to stop on the side of the road, well as soon as he got out he started cursing out loud as to why these things happen. It was quite a show. Once he finished and got back into the car he owed me 25 minutes because the lesson ended early. But he tells me next time he'll give me an extra 5 or 10 minutes. Needless to say I will never use this company again. If the driving instructor has no patience and handles problems that arise by screaming profanity all over the road, he has no business being an driving instructor.

My instructors were Jose, Yasmine & Yonel. Don't waste your time here. Daniel is friendly and helpful and the only reason this place gets a star. They have 2 programs to chose from. For 2000$ you can read, watch practice videos & take practice tests on your own. You can also do this for free if you use your handbook and the internet. The study sheet and video had inconsistencies from the handbook. I memorized the video and then was told, don't use the wording from the video... One of the instructors seemed to have hated me since he met me and the few times I had him in class, it was unbearable. All he did was yell at me. The other 2 instructors were friendly. While they were teaching me, they would tell me when to turn & how much but I never learned why. I would always ask, I don't understand, I need to be able to understand, telling me what to do without me being able to recognize why is not helping. I think that comment was lost in translation because I never learned how to do some of the basic things. Unemployment paid for my training. The money & time was completely wasted. I think I got 20 hours in the truck. For some reason they schedule my first attempt at the test without having taken all the hours. They set you up to fail and I did. I scheduled another test but didn't get to practice consistently at all. I progressed but didn't pass completely. The school is busy so scheduling was a problem plus the delays at the DMV made it impossible. My test receipt expired so I had to pay that a second time and now my permit is expiring and I am out of practice hours. It makes no sense to me whatsoever that they didn't allow me to take all my hours if not more before sending me to take the test. I believe they try to get you to take the test hoping you will pass so they don't have to give you all the hours that were paid for. During my classes, the instructors were usually on their phone and not helping me. Their methods of teaching are ineffective. At this point, I think I only need a couple more hours of practice, it's all about consistency. Taking 2 hours of classes every couple weeks will never give you the skills needed. The trucks were in terrible shape. The shifter was so worn that you had to place it in the absolute correct spot. The brakes were constantly unresponsive or too sensitive. During my test, as I was going through the safety check, the truck was obviously not safe. I may have said "the air pressure is good between 80-120", but the air pressure was at 150 & it did lose more than 4lbs of pressure in a minute. It also doesn't seem professional for my time to be used maintaining the truck. Perhaps that time would have made a difference. I have to schedule some more hours and a new road test but I have to pay out of pocket. I will be going somewhere else. The question you need to ask yourself is; " is it worth spending the money to drive a truck with someone sitting next to you", this place should be your last choice.
