Went for dinner on a Wednesday night. Super cozy atmosphere. Only a few tables and a counter you are able to dine at. Reservations are encouraged. We had the meze trio (my fave dish). Comes with tons of pita and all 3 dips are great! We then had the cauliflower sabzi which is a newer dish, we were told. Excellent!! I love cauliflower and don't see it on alot of menus. Our main was the beef kebob (short rib). VERY TENDER, and excellent accompanied by the yogurt and sweet pepper sauce. Food was so fresh and healthy tasting. Only issue was the amount of time between courses. It was 50 plus minutes between appetizer and salad. And there were only 2 other tables eating. It was my first time here, so not sure if that is customary or if something was off.

Went to Purslane in a Saturday night. Grabbed a reservation on Tock. Maddie (sp?) was super helpful in providing menu insights. We got the deviled eggs, Fattoush Salad, Green Barn Farm Fried cauliflower (special), Ali Nazik Beef Kebab and a California red. We were splitting among two people - the portions were large enough for four. I'd call the deviled eggs ok - not much influence from the trout. Everything else was really good. Not sure if the air conditioning was out , but the temperature was elevated in the dining area. We liked the place and will be back. I would enjoy going with a larger group and sharing more items.

Located in basement- was warm to me. But the people I was with were comfortable. Cocktails were a little delayed to table. Wrong glass for one of them, could have been colder for the cocktail served in the coup glass. My mule was different, but I liked it. Scallops had good sauce but didn't care for shredded wheat ( crunchy) on top/ cherries. Deconstructed ( my words) spanakopita was delish. Chicken wings weren't good . Limited menu. Service was good. Ambiance was good except the stuffiness ( heat) of the place. I think this place was nice but the limited menu and different flavors I've never is why I gave 3 stars .

Purslane knocked it out of the park and is now one of my favorites! Service, food, drinks, ambiance - impeccable! The tuna Nayah, sunchoke, and fattoush small plates were absolutely delicious. They have an excellent cocktail list, including good n/a drinks and you know they'll be perfect because Kyle makes them - one of the best bartenders in the city! They also have really fun special drinks like absinthe service. The apple kunefe for dessert was heavenly as well. You just can't go wrong with anything on this menu.

A cozy and intimate Mediterranean hot spot! We enjoyed our dinner on a Friday night. First thoughts coming in - sooo cute! I love how bright and colorful this place is for how small the space really is. We were welcomed with a delicious spiced tea as we were sitting down. The service here was amazing all night and I wish I remembered our server's name (sorry!) Between two people we shared: Pickles (pass) Meze trio (5/5, especially the muhammara)) Harissa wings (4/5) Tuna (4/5) Fattoush salad (3/5) Olive oil cake (3/5, was really dry when we had it) All the items had a really unique flavor and was good but we definitely favored the meze trio, tuna, and harissa wings. This spot sits on the more pricey end for the amount you get, but enjoyed it nonetheless and wish it well! I'll definitely need to revisit for their seasonal menu changes.

Yesss Purslane! Lovely little space, sweetest staff, incredible food. My husband and I went in for a Thursday date night, very excited to try out a new spot (only two months open)! It certainly met and succeeded date night expectations. The little eatery is tucked in the lower level of a building on Farewell. It's unassuming and could be easy to miss, but don't miss it! We were greeted by a friendly face at the hostess stand, who sat us at a corner two-top. Definitely book a rez because there's only a dozen or so seats, and then a few at the cutie little bar. You can see a bit into the kitchen where they are hard at work too. The walls are splashed with vibrant paint colors and decor. Overall great vibes. Right away someone brought us little glasses with an apple-tea of sorts. It was refreshing! A nice touch and 'welcome' from their team, who were all so nice. I ordered the forest & stone martini because I'm a martini gal and it was delightful, made with white pine and cucumber vodka. Hubby had a cold beer on tap. Mediterranean food is by far my favorite type of cuisine, and at Purslane it's mostly shareable plates, which we love! We started with the olive snacks covered in a chios spice (yum). Next was - what might be my fave - the tuna naya dish. If you're a fan of raw fish like me, this is a must. It was so damn flavorful & fresh. The fattoush salad was also really great, and the ali nazik beef kebab took us home for the winnnn. So tender and moist, accompanied with a smokey eggplant yogurt. Truly not a bite of this meal I didn't enjoy (and outwardly rave over). You can absolutely tell they pour love into the craft of making these dishes -- thank you chef Mary! Highly rec this spot! I know I'll be back for sure.

    1) Amazing Food 2) Friendly Service 3) WOW SO happy we were able to snag a last minute reservation to try Purslane! The reservation was definitely needed as there are limited tables and this place is new and hot! From start to finish service was friendly and attentive. Servers were very aware and attentive to food allergies. They have some great NA choices for drinks as well as a healthy beer, wine and cocktail menu. We ordered a bunch of plates to share. Every single item was bursting with flavor and we dug in so fast I wasn't snapping pics until half way through. This is the BEST addition to the Milwaukee restaurant scene. Go as fast as you can!

Purslane might be my most favorite restaurant in the city! I've been for dinner a few times, and it is such a great place for girls dinner, date night, or bringing visitors! We recently went for the Sunday brunch, which is only available the last Sunday of the month. You definitely don't want to miss the breakfast sandwich. The people working there recognize me, if that tells you anything about how much I love Purslane!

A super cute & welcoming restaurant in the previous Red Light Ramen place. Service was super friendly. The chef even came out to serve food and greet customers. Pricey but perfect for a date night. They have an extensive drink menu and a smaller food menu. We got Meze Trio (small plate), Ali Nazik Beef Kebab, Sea Scallop and Kaymek Semifreddo (dessert). Also got Turkish coffee and Above the Terracotta - Manhattan cocktail. Everything was delicious and we particularly enjoyed the trio and the beef kebab. Even our picky toddler ate a lot of the carrot purée and pita in the trio dish. Pro tip: they have a glossary for non-English words of the dish names in the last page of the menu.

Amazing. I placed a reservation here last week and, upon arriving, was met by a very cute, well-decorated place and friendly dining staff. We were sat at the bar, which gave us the perfect view into the kitchen. One chef was responsible for all the meal preparation that night, and everything she made was excellent. We started with the 3 hummus spread and then I had the chicken wings, which were both excellent. It was so fun watching the bartender making drinks and chatting with him--an extremely genuine and kind server. Truly some of the best service I have ever had at a restaurant. I hope to visit here again soon and try more.

This place is amazing. My friend and I sat at the bar and chatted with the server and bartender the whole time - they were both so friendly. The food was absolutely amazing - it was nice to get little bites of different items. I'll be back for sure to try more off the menu. They decor was cute and cozy - love this place!

In a word: Wow! Lovely, cozy spot with warm decor. Excellent service. But the food ...?! Really unique, well-balanced, fresh and original. So glad my husband and I chose to celebrate our anniversary here. Only downside? I was asked when making the reservation about any allergies and whether we were celebrating a special occasion. At the restaurant, they acknowledged the former, but not the latter. A glass of champagne would've been appreciated! Otherwise, why ask?

A beautifully "composed" gin & tonic

We sat at the bar again, and had our best dinner yet at Purslane. The sunchoke small plate was amazing. Great winter comfort food. The short ribs were was incredibly tender and flavorful. The fluke stuffed with crab was delicious and very inventive. Kyle who tends bar was delightful as always. We were told by a local chef we should have ordered dessert. Next time!

The inside is so well done, from the design and decor to the furniture and overall atmosphere. Love their large dining room, and the curved bar closer to the entryway. Visually all very nice. Recently, I dined outside for the first time ever though and that was also lovely. Patio sits among the hustle and bustle of the Third Ward. My husband and I ordered drinks first. He got the fig old fashioned-of course I tried it- and it was delightful. I'm a big martini fan so I went with their signature, made with gin, and garnished with feta-stuffed olives. I mean yesss x10. As if those olives weren't enough, we ordered the olive dish from the shareables menu, along with the whipped feta. That came with roasted grapes, pistachio, pomegranate, and mint. Talk about flavorful! They get ya on having to order an extra serving of pita bread though. From the mains we had the seared scallops with ricotta dumplings, along with the woodfire grilled hanger steak, all to share. More bold flavors, more happiness with our choices! Ended the meal with a well-made espresso martini. I've not met a dish I don't like here, and the overall dining experience is worth the price.

It is a small family owned business, and mother cooks all the food. It's only been a month since they moved here from Layton, so they don't have a sign yet, but just go in to the Rayan super market, and navigate yourself to the back of the building. They do have a table off to the side inside the market if you're in a pinch and need to eat there, but I'd recommend taking the food to go. The family is friendly, and if you aren't too familiar with Mediterranean food, they will help you navigate their menu items. They have 2 types of rice. One is a smoked rice (first time I tried it, and it was good!), and the other one is cinnamon. I didn't care for the latter, but the smoked rice was delicious. I was only going to try a bite or two, but I ended up kicking myself off of keto and ate a whole bowl. Chicken special - with rice and salad Salad was a small portion of very fresh lettuce, tomato and cucumber in light oil dressing. Chicken was a bit dry for my taste. They did have the chicken in a warmer plate (like the buffet style) and it must have been sitting there a while. The flavors were good, but the dryness was disappointing. The menu says "half chicken", but we got 2 pieces of thigh+drum. In a way that's good, cuz any breast meat would have been so much more dry. Lamb special - with rice and salad We ordered the cinnamon rice for this dish and the smoked one for the chicken dish. Like I said, the smoked rice was better for my palate. The lamb was delicious. It was falling off the bones, but it wasn't dry. We got 3 large chunks of lamb with bone and one little piece boneless. In both plates, our server piled the rice so high! I hope they don't go out of business giving so much rice! But I'm not complaining. Overall, the meal was delicious and I would definitely go again. I'd love to try some of their appetizers and other meat items.

We've enjoyed "sip and paints" here, New Year's Eve, when they offered brunch with crepes, and frequented when they had their vegetarian lunch buffet. Unfortunately, things have changed. 1. Atmosphere The décor hasn't changed. Still sleek, dimly lit, and romantic. The bathroom water wasn't working, and staff seemed aware of it when we mentioned it. How is that sanitary or up to code? Several of the chairs brought to our table were also broken, with bent legs a clear safety issue. It's typically packed on a Saturday like a dance club but it was nearly empty on a Saturday night which may be a reflection of our experience. 2. Service Our waitress was kind and attentive despite handling a large group, but the busboy was unprofessional. He started clearing plates while people were still eating and even asked my husband to reach across the table to hand over other guests' dishes. It made us feel rushed, even though the place wasn't busy. 3. Food My chicken shawarma was greasy, hard, sour, and unseasoned, almost as if the meat had gone bad. The potato balls were cut open which I've never seen and underwhelming. My husband and son's wings were over fried and tough, the spinach artichoke dip was clumpy and poorly blended, and others said the lamb chops were "okay." Honestly, the best thing I ate that night was the pita bread. 4. Overall Experience This used to be our go to for birthdays, Brady Street drag show viewing, and happy hour, but it's gone downhill. Fucking love this place…read more If there is a highly rated small plates place in a location we are visiting, you can count on us to find it. We walked literally thirty minutes to this place from our hotel. It was a lovely walk in early August. We had a 5:45pm reservation on a Thursday (we are old now) and we were seated immediately. Service was excellent. Ok so they have a fantastic cocktail menu. I appreciate any cocktail menu that is more complex than vodka and cranberry juice but this takes it to another level of creativity. I also like how they name them with numbers. It's so much easier to say "I'll have a 42" rather than "I will have a duperbeamerscicle". I started with an "88" with pisco, rose-poached strawberry, amontillado sherry, verjus, rose port, and pink peppercorn. Served in a highball glass and garnished with berries. Very refreshing. GF started with the "91" mezcal, passion fruit, poblano, pineapple, amaro, lime. Gorgeous and chic. Very strong, smoky flavor. When in Rome, so the cheese plate did not feel like an option. Four fantastic cheeses were served with very tasty candied nuts, some jam business, grapes, and some of the best bread I have had on a cheese plate. Thick, soft, and fluffy. Paired absolutely perfectly with cheese. Only complaint is that I wish there was more of it. I haven't had deviled eggs in a minute so I went wild and also had the chili crisp deviled eggs which were SPECTACULAR. I also got the Egyptian fried cauliflower which is served on a smear of harissa and lemon tahini. Very flavorful. Star of the show tbh was the tagliatelle with squash, tomato, these fried cheese crisps. The noodles were al dente and SO GOOD in such a wonderful sauce. GF also got the steak, she says "very good seasoning". I helped her out with the kimchi pancake. Wonderful. Such a great sauce. For our second round of dranks we both went with the "77" makrut lime vodka, tamarind, bird's eye chili, cilantro, lime, lemongrass. Very tamarind forward. Very unique. I can see why it's our server's favorite drink on the menu. The desserts looked really good (something with sticky rice I think it was a cocktail and a bread budding that looked fantastic) but we just weren't feeling it.

The deviled eggs were easily our favorite and are an absolute must-order. We also loved the flatbread with fiddleheads, which featured a delicious curry-inspired flavor that reminded us of an Indian dish. My husband couldn't stop talking about the bread pudding and said it was one of the best desserts he's had. Everything we tried was beautifully prepared and full of flavor. If we lived in Milwaukee, Odd Duck would absolutely become one of our regular spots. We can't wait to come back the next time we're in town.
