The hotel rooms are actually apartments, with full kitchens, some with separate bedrooms. Three of us were supposed to be a group of 6, but typical, 3 bailed on us at the last minute. Not a problem! The Proprietress, Ms Susan, was very accommodating. She showed us our original reservation, and then showed us a smaller suite, at a lower rate. We chose the smaller room. It was so comfortable! Full kitchen, full bathroom. King size bed with a queen size sofa bed and a recliner too. The recliner was difficult (stiff) to use, but we managed. In the restaurant - The Queens Grill - instead of a full dinner, we opted for cocktails and appetizers. We had the shrimp cocktail, the fried green beans (delicious!!!) and the caesar salad with shrimp. Wow! Excellent! Or cocktails were The Train-wreck. Careful! These are quite potent! Our waitress promised to see us to the elevator and to our room if needed! LOL! We also ordered the cheese board to take to our room. Also a delicious choice! Service was excellent, and the owner came in to open the windows for us so we could view the magnificent church across the street. All in all, this was a delightful experience and we will definitely stay here again the next time we visit Palestine, Texas.

Restaurants, shopping, Walmart, etc. The woman at check in was nice and informative. She easily let us change rooms because I was concerned about the noise in our first room. Free breakfast was from 6-9am. Pet friendly. At the time of stay - $25 per pet per night - up to two dogs. They have a pool, but of course we didn't use it, it's December. Spaces were clean, that's all I ask for in a budget hotel.

Hotel is off by itself on a hill & even though there's a apartment complex near it was still very quiet. Nothing to eat within walking distance but lots of choices are just a short drive. BEWARE: Poor Service and Pest Issues…read more This review reflects my personal experience during our family's annual Peanut Festival weekend. Our relatives travel from multiple states, and we make this a mini reunion by staying at the same hotel together. This was our second and last year at this Comfort Suites. We checked in Friday and stayed through Sunday. As we left early Saturday morning, housekeeping was actively cleaning the room right next to ours and even spoke to us, so there was no reason our room should have been skipped. Yet when we returned that night, our room had never been serviced. We walked into dirty towels that was placed by the front door for pick-up, no toilet paper, and my husband had to kill a huge cockroach in the bathtub. We were on the third floor, so this wasn't just a "country bug" situation -- it was a clear cleanliness problem. When I went to the front desk, the young lady was kind and apologetic, but as she brought towels to us, another family down the hall killed a second large cockroach right in front of everyone. Their room also hadn't been cleaned and had no fresh towels. Multiple rooms. Same issues. No housekeeping. No supplies. Roaches. After this experience, our family will be returning to our regular hotel of the past 10 years to reconvene next year. Comfort Suites will not be part of our Peanut Festival tradition again.

I'd give it four stars except for the fact that I found the wireless access to be real hit and miss and that makes staying here somewhat of an inconvenience. There was a storm that knocked it off-line briefly one day but I continued to have problems irregardless. Face it, hotel owners: people staying with you need access. Take a laptop to each room and see what the experience is like for those staying there. It can't be that hard. For me it's my job and the need to check-in for flights and other travel reservations. Still, a solid choice for a town this size and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. One note: there are two small restaurants nearby. One is on the same side of the street. Dine there. I'm not even going to review the one across the street. It's not listed on Yelp and it may be one of the worst restaurants I've ever set foot in. It doesn't have anything to do with the hotel but you should know.

The front desk clerk was very friendly and gave me my military discount, making the room exactly the same price as the nightmare place down the street. No problems here! The room is basic (as one would expect), but comfortable...and did I mention, clean?! One of the things I liked best was not having carpet in the room. With flooring you know what's the n the floor...not so with icky, old carpet. It was a bit noisy several times in the night (mostly cars and people in the parking lot). However, a pleasant enough place to stay overnight while on the road.
