The Academy ECE of Westminster

The Academy ECE of Westminster

Prior to finding The Academy ECE of Westminster, my husband and I had visited at least half a dozen…read moredifferent daycare centers for our toddler, from big to small, from national chains to independently and locally owned and operated. We did not have a good impression of any of them. If they weren't cramped, dark, and musty, then they were stark, cold, and sterile. And then there was The Academy ECE of Westminster. The moment we walked through the door, we knew this place was it: the school exuded a family vibe that was both warm and welcoming. In particular, it felt like a school and not an institution, and that was important to us. We thought our little boy would flourish here and he did---he and his little brother! During our older boy's three years at the school before he started Kindergarten, he had made friends with almost every staff member and teacher, all of whom knew him by name and would stop to chat with him at drop-off and pick-up. Our younger boy (almost-three-nager) is now half way through his second year here. At drop-off, he plays peek-a-boo and hide-n-seek with his teachers. At pick-up, he gives them hugs, high-fives, and fist-bumps before happily skipping down the hall. As parents, what more do we ask for, knowing there are patient, kind, and ever so caring teachers who look after and bond with our children day in and day out? The school staff and teachers here love what they do and it shows. In return, we trust them with our most precious: our children. Management wise, it is worth noting that when we started sending our older boy here in the spring of 2019, the school was still a locally, privately, and independently owned and operated facility. However, since March 2021, it was acquired by a national management entity called Endeavor Schools. To Endeavor Schools' credit, they did successfully retain the school's original feel, that warm and welcoming family vibe that won us over to begin with. Most importantly, they have kept the same staff and teachers, the school's heart and soul in our humble opinion. As parents and as long-time clients, we can only hope that Endeavor Schools will continue to value the dedicated team they have here at The Academy ECE of Westminster. It's the people who make all the difference. Sincerely, Happy parents.

We moved to the area in August 2017 and toured three local daycares. The first we toured was more expensive, and classrooms had a very rigid curriculum where I felt like my son would be living under quarantine. The second was cheap but felt more like Lord of the Flies - total chaos, I was exhausted after being there for 15 minutes. Academy ECE hit a good balance in the middle - a good daily schedule but with plenty of free play time while moving between a classroom, the gym, the computer room, a moving space, and an outdoor playground. Staff seemed very friendly, classrooms looked fun but organized, so we enrolled. Fast forward to now - we're very happy with our choice. My son has a lot of friends in class, he brings home artwork, alphabet worksheets, and stories about his friends every day. We're attending birthday parties with other parents every other weekend. He's learning a lot. He participates in some really cool activities while at school (piano lessons, soccer buddies, art, and dance) which really takes a burden off of us for having to arrange those things outside of our daily 9-5, so our evenings can be free to hang out with him and have fun. When I drop him off every morning, his friends are yelling his name and greeting him with hugs at the door, it's great. He's happy and we're happy. I'm sorry another Yelper had such a negative experience, but ask yourself - if someone else's child has behavioral issues around your child, do you want it ignored? Or do you want a school who will work on it, contact the parents, use a process to address the issues? I feel like my son is safe, having fun, and learning here, and that's what is important to me.

That said, I feel so incredibly blessed knowing that while I'm away, my daughter is in the hands of people who truly love and nurture her. The teachers at A Child's Touch have played such a vital role in her development--they've been like a second family, helping raise her with patience, warmth, and care. While my daughter is naturally a happy girl, I know that her daily happiness is in no small part thanks to the incredible environment created at the school. She starts her day excited and comes home just as cheerful. It amazes me to see how much she has learned--counting to ten, reciting the alphabet, singing tons of full songs--and I know these milestones are a direct reflection of the amazing teaching and support she receives from the staff. In addition to all my daughter's teachers, every staff member I have spoken to or worked with has been beyond helpful. ACT has a fantastic group of employees.

They do charge a lot and close by 5:30pm which is impossible for most working parents. They charge $30 if you arrive at 5:31 so be prepared! Unfortunately there are two staff members who should not teach children who act like they have miserable lives. They were my child's teachers and every single day no smiles, not happy and not communicative to parents. My child loved her first year here, didn't struggle with goodbyes until she moved into this classroom and she would not want me to leave, one of the teachers walked up and grabbed her by the wrist and pulled her to the other side of the classroom telling her it's time to be at school and made her cry even more. If I could have missed work that day I would have. I do not feel children are safe in that classroom. He never once getting down on her level to try to make her feel comfortable or offer any sort of empathy. She told me she was scared to go every day. My last straw was when my child told me that another kid followed them into the bathroom and touched their private parts. They told the teacher and not only did I NOT get a call from the teachers, and NOT get an an incident report, they told me my child made it up. The office staff was absolutely useless, first claiming to "investigate" which just meant I had to follow up with them for any answer. They said it never happened. One of my child's teachers told my child in front of me that they made it up and that never happened. I had to demand my child was switched to another class room. I do not recommend. My child is still upset about getting touched inappropriately and I hate that it was met with absolutely no support.

UPDATED REVIEW: I am…read morereceiving notifications that individuals associated with the school have attempted to have this review removed. For clarity and documentation purposes, I am updating this review and will be adding supporting photos. PARENTS, PLEASE READ: This review reflects my personal experience regarding an incident involving my first-grade son while attending Belleview Christian School. My son attended Belleview Christian for a short period of time. During that time, an incident occurred that was deeply distressing for him and for our family. The restroom where this occurred did not have traditional solid stall doors. The stalls were separated by fabric-style partitions rather than full doors. While using that restroom, my 7-year-old son was in a stall, pants down, using the toilet. A much older student entered and physically assaulted him. He was repeatedly hit and pushed into the toilet. Only after my son screamed at the top of his lungs did a staff member hear him and come into the restroom. He was then sent back to class. I was not notified at the time of the incident. I learned what had happened only after my son got into my car after school and immediately broke down crying, shaking, and visibly distressed as he described the event. I documented his condition that afternoon. An incident report later stated that I had been contacted by phone. I did not receive a phone call. I reviewed my phone records from that day and have documentation of all incoming and outgoing calls. There was no call from the school. After I requested documentation, the school provided an incident report stating that my son was injured by a "toilet handle" and that there was "no visible swelling or bruising." Immediately after picking him up from school, I took him to urgent care. Medical professionals documented visible bruising and swelling across his back. When I requested that the report be corrected to reflect the medical findings, I experienced what I believe was resistance and a lack of transparency in the process. Because of that experience, I began documenting all subsequent communications. Since this incident, my son has struggled with using school bathrooms and has experienced ongoing distress. This occurred when he was in first grade. He is now in fifth grade, and he still speaks about what happened. He remains in therapy as a result of this event. Based on our experience: * I did not feel there was adequate supervision. * I did not receive timely parent notification. * I did not feel the response was transparent. * I did not feel there was meaningful accountability regarding how the incident was handled. My intention in posting this review is to share our experience so that other parents can make informed decisions. This is a truthful account of what occurred, supported by documentation. I stand by the facts of our experience. Your child's safety depends on leadership you trust. Based on what happened in our situation, I did not feel confident that my child was protected or that the incident was handled in a clear and responsible manner.

Ms. Kayla has been particularly amazing. She has been with our daughter in the explorer classroom since we started and has been a true partner to us in our child's development. If we ever are having a challenge at home, we know we can bring it to the teachers at GHM and they'll help reinforce our parenting efforts in the classroom as well. The administrative team is hands on (yay for Jesse, Alyscia, and Jessica!) and so welcoming and kind. I regularly see them in classroom and getting g involved with the kids and as teacher support. Love to see it. 2) GHM strives to foster community amongst parents and families at the school. There are dad's nights, mom's nights, family barbecues and more! I have had the chance to get to know most of the parents of the kids in my daughter's classroom, which is awesome. 3) Parent teacher conferences are regularly scheduled and the staff comes prepared with detailed notes on your child's development and milestones. You can really have a collaborative discussion about your child and their needs! It felt really lovely to hear their perspective because they were so detailed and thoughtful in their assessment. 4) Look, all schools are dealing with staffing shortages, but we have had far less of an issue with this at GHM than we did at our last school. Our daughters teachers have been very consistent and in the event of staff turnover, Jesse, Alyscia and Jessica will do everything in their power to keep the school open - we've never had a school closure due to short staffing -- at our last school this was a regular occurrence. 5) We love that the school takes care of breakfast, lunch and snacks for the kids! Balanced meals, and such a relief to not have to do this at home every night. Helps free up the time we have at home with our daughter for play and connection! End of the day, this is the best possible school for our family. Highly recommend to other parents. Feel so lucky that we found it.

The neglect of my son not being given water or having sun block put on him by the director of the center while she was in preschool filling in for the lack of consistent teachers and chaos in preschool as is.. Coming home with his underwear having serious skid marks from the teachers not caring for his proper hygene, to his paints and underwear being backwards and shoes on the wrong feet. When I tried to tell the teacher she raised her voice to talk over me and interrupt me to tell me " Well he did that" before I was able to voice my other concerns, veing please wipe his butt better next time and clothes on properly. I thought teachers are supposed to teach the kids how to do things the right way and stand for GHM own "Morals and standards" what a joke. He hires woman is mini shirts and people who have no experience becaude he is desperate for the fill in. No wonder with the way he treats and represents people internally. It looks sparkly on the outside until you get your child in and your family in then you realize it is nothing but terrible communication, an owner out for money and a director who doesnt support her teachers or get out of her chair. Then I got a phone call, not the decency of a face to face conversation by the owner Jesse being told I screamed in the classroom, an over reaction, he nor his teachers cared to listen to my concerns. This is just one exampke of many. There is a new teacher there every week and they don't last for for then a couple weeks if that. I have called state and jeffco for child neglect a few weeks ago and will do so again. The countless teachers that come through this center is unreal. Eight teachers I counted in April and the list goes on. Your child will not have consistent teachers or care. Preschool is out of control as I have had a sub teacher tell me how the director thinks that yelling and screaming gets 3 years to listen and they feel inadiquite and uncomfortable there because they feel it a lost cause. If you want true care for your child and genuine "Vetran Buisness owners" who care about the true well being, BEWARE. Take your money elsewhere as you will be highly disappointed. This is definitely not a diamond in the rough. Ashes to ashes. P.S. Jesse from a Marine to a Marine, we have corps values. Honor, Courage and Commitment. Where is your honor. I sure don't see it. The only thing you honor a dollor sign.. Your commitment... Your sure not committed to the children and how they are being taking care. Courage, where is your integrity?
