Service:
We ate here twice while on our three night stay in Nice. It was so great! The chef is from Lombardy, Italy and extremely friendly. He gave us tips while in France to ask for "une carafe" to get free still water instead of paying for it! We went in the first day without a reservation at exactly 7pm when they opened and were able to get our preferred seating outdoors. We did notice as the night went on how popular this place was so for the second night, we ensured we made a reservation so we didn't have to wait. When ordering, the chef was the one who took our orders. Everything we ordered, he reassured us with "orgasmic!" or "classic!". Made me feel like my selection was a good one, and of course it was upon the taste test.
Food:
Between our various times at this restaurant, we had the charcuterie board, the drunken octopus pasta (TWICE!), ravioli, carbonara, and tiramisu.
- The drunken octopus pasta was AMAZING. The sauce was so tasty and full of flavor (it's made with red wine).
- The ravioli was a special on the menu for the week. It was tasty, but a bit too rich to finish in one sitting.
- The carbonara was good, but we've had better in Rome (which is expected).
- the tiramisu was light and decadent with the perfect amount of lady fingers. There were 2 layers of lady fingers which were soaked in espresso which was super tasty.
- fresh bread / focaccia was provided during our meals which we LOVED and thought was way better than the bread in Italy. When we ate in Rome/Florence, the bread we received was always stale. Not here!
Overall, this is a great spot. One of the coolest things is that he has a chalkboard that tracks all the patrons that have visited his establishment. It was cool to see how many people from all over the world have come to eat his food! Definitely worth your time if you are in Nice if you want some great service and of course phenomenal food!!! read more
