Nora with Pursemblance was a true joy to work with on my wedding day. Given that I am really "not that girl" who is really not into makeup & hair Nora really took the lead but followed my wishes to keep it clean & simple. I hate my lips but I love my hazel eyes. So I told her that I wanted to play those up & she really did that. She broke my fear of FALSE LASHES. I am converted! Moreover the makeup she applied with the airbrush technique really lasted from the ceremony, thru our fotos and into the reception. She also kept the bridesmaids looking fresh and simple - but really modern and glamorous too. Our pictures came out great & I really credit Nora for her help in keeping the bridesmaids look uniform & beautiful. Pluses: - Nora spoke Spanish to my mother & my grandmother too and that really helped make the setting on my wedding be more welcoming. - The best part - during the foto shoot with my bad dog, Lola, Nora held a banana over her head and made funny noises to hold the dog's attention for the photographer! I couldn't recommend Nora more highly. She is incredible. I can say this objectively...as I work with makeup artists for a living...none of which have the skills or efficiency of Nora. I got married on July 13th in Long Beach and was a bit nervous. I did not do the makeup trial run before my wedding (it just wasn't in the budget). Everybody told me I was crazy...after all Nora could have been a complete, talentless hack. But I trusted Yelp and I'm glad I did. Nora was amazing. Aside from the beautiful job she did on my makeup and hair (which was seriously the best I've ever looked), she also didn't dick around with idle conversation and waste my time. That might sound blunt, but when you are paying for service...you want the job done and quickly. NORA is a the ULTIMATE makeup emergency savior!!! Long story short? I was one of *those* brides that figured OK, I paid for a makeup lesson a few months ago, so I think I should be good to save some $$ and do my own makeup on my wedding day! Come the morning of my wedding, everything is coming together just as I hoped. Then I realize how gorgeous everything is looking, and I paused. And panicked. So many photos are going to be taken today. This is my wedding day. The day that only happens once. The day that I can't redo. The photos I'll keep forever and show to my own children one day... Our engagement photos turned out great since thankfully most of them were taken from a distance, but I even felt uncomfortable with my own (at the time) soon-to-be husband standing 2 feet from me. I felt like I was wearing a mask or stage makeup. I feared I would be so embarrassed to stand in front of my family or new family members feeling like a clown. With Nora, this was not the case at all. And even looking at the photos and video now, my makeup looked flawless from a distance as well as up close. I recently got married in November and like any bride to be I needed a makeup artist for the big day. I came on yelp and saw Puresemblance. From the first point of contact Nora was very fast in communicating with me via email. After emailing back and forth I set a date and time for a trial for me and my mother in law. Needless to say I was blown away. I was blown away not only by her skills but by her. Nora is very talented and her airbrush application is flawless. Now I don't wear full coverage make up just eyeliner, mascara and a bit of concealer but for having a full face of makeup on I could hardly tell I had any on! Conversation with her flows and there is never an awkward moment. I knew I had to book her. A couple days before the wedding we emailed to set up her arrival time the day of and she showed up earlier than scheduled to set up, which I thought was awesome.
