The St. Ermin's Tea Lounge - Afternoon tea for one adult and one child

It was an enjoyable experience for Afternoon Tea. It was VERY reasonably priced compared to what I…read moresaw while looking for a place. The decor was absolutely beautiful, the staff were great and very accommodating. We were arriving late based on commute issues so I rebooted for a later time so we weren't late for our seating. We arrived about 15 minutes after our original time and 45 minutes before our new time and they let us sit right away. Most of the food was good. For me, the one issue was that I don't typically eat white bread so the first few sandwiches felt dry. The ironic part was that I don't typically like shrimp but I tried the prawn cocktail and it was one of my savory favorites along with the heritage beef. Most of the sweets were good, you just have to get past texture expectations depending on what you're used to. For example, the cheesecake had a gelatin-like texture, and we are used to cheesecake being more on the creamy side. The flavor however, was good. The star of the show, the tea. We both only tried 2 teas. Between the tower and the tea, you get full quickly. I ordered the lemongrass and ginger then the Taiwanese Four Season. My favorite was the lemongrass and ginger. I also purchased one to take home. Overall great experience and I highly recommend.

We arrived about 10 minutes before our teatime to a gentleman telling us that our teatime had been moved to 2 PM because of some filming. He stated that they had attempted to reach us, but we had not gotten a call. They offered to buy us a drink at the bar outside of the restaurant for our wait time. I had never had a tea in London and I had heard this was the best so I was willing to wait, even though I was not happy with the time change. Finally, when 2 o'clock came around, we were seated at the restaurant and greeted by a server who very much made me feel like we were a nuisance. He brought out a box of tea, which was lovely. The view from our window was lovely. He then proceeded to bring out a few sandwiches, which were definitely not enough to make me feel like I had eaten. Then brought the tower of scone and desserts. The sandwiches were decent. The scones were delicious with the clotted cream. Every single dessert was awful. And I am a big fan of dessert. Once our server had brought our food over, he never checked on us once. There was even a table sitting next to us that he kept attending to and we would call him over and he would ignore us and keep walking away. Eventually, we alerted someone in the restaurant to this situation and they sent over a new server. They took a small percentage off of our bill for the inconveniences. It was still about 150 pounds per person. This was the absolute biggest disappointment of anything I ate during this 2 week trip. I will never come back here and I will never suggest anybody come here. I have had better service and better food at a chain fast food restaurant. I was still hungry after this meal and ended up going somewhere else to eat after. That is very disappointing.

Fortnum and Mason: Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon - Savory on the left and traditional on the right

I had done high tea before on a previous trip, and mentioned to one of my friends I would like to do it again. She is borderline obsessed with Fortnum & Mason so we decided to do high tea there. The tea room is fittingly at the very top of the building. Below are different floors that vary from a butcher's shop, to being filled with cookies and tea, and then having dinnerware. The Jubilee Tea Salon is exactly what you would think given its location. White tablecloths, well dressed servers, steaming pots of tea, and overflowing towers of miniature sandwiches and baked goods. The room is bright and well lit, and just had an airiness to it that I liked. We went all out and it was worth it for us. The context is that both myself and my friend Karin are big tea drinkers. I'm sure we could have found a similar high team for a cheaper price, but I really enjoyed it overall. If you aren't really into the high tea experience but just are doing it to check it off your bucket list, consider another spot. If you want to see what all of the fuss is though this is an excellent spot.

Second, if you order "still water" they will bring you still water---in a commercial bottle and charge you £5.95 ($7.88 on 27 SEPT 2026). If you want plain water, order "tap water". Third, our waiter not mention that additional sandwiches and scones were included at no extra charge. We learned that only after we left, so we had been reluctant to ask for more. Finally, F&M adds a 12.5% service charge to the bill. In our case that was £22.49 ($29.80 for the two of us). That's OK, just know that they will add the service charge. Our bill for high tea with still water and sparking water totaled £202.39 ($268). Would I recommend it? The food was good and generally attractive, but it did not feel special enough to justify the $268 price. Perhaps it is worth considering for a very special occasion, preferably when F&M is less busy. Otherwise, London has other appealing options at a lower price.

After several Google services, I came across Dotty's website, it is well put together and really grabbed my attention Seeing Dotty's in real life was like a dream. The establishment is beautifully decorated and you can tell the owner really invested in the place and the people who work there. There is a pink bicycle parked outside, the establishment is pink, the decor is very elegant--perfect for a photo op I opt to do the afternoon tea with Prosecco added on as well as some scones to go. It was a very fair price per person. Under £80 for the entire experience for 2 people. They also sell other assorted desserts, shakes and cakes All the employees were attentive, they explained in detail what our package came with and they made sure we were happy from start to finish. EVERYTHING was delicious! From the English tea down to the Pimms jello HIGHLY RECOMMEND 10/10!!

I stumbled on the listing while doing a search for tea places before I left Washington, DC to travel to London. Unfortunately I didn't make the reservation myself (relied on family in London to make it) so we didn't get booked for the afternoon tea service as I'd hoped and just had a reserved table instead. Still, I indulged in some scones with cream and strawberry jam, paired with a strong cup of decaf English breakfast tea. The staff is very friendly and took the time to explain the drink and pastry options to us. I hope I get a chance to visit again for the full tea service before the end of my trip!
