Located at the Borough Market. After seeing this on IG, I had to try this spot out. We arrived on a Thursday around 10:50 am and there was no line. Everyone else was already chowing down on their food. I ordered the "The Best One". I must say this sandwich was delicious and it was quite messy to eat too. I didn't know where to take a bite lol. This sandwich is flavorful plus it had a spicy kick to it. I shared this with my parents and they liked it too.

Located on the western end of the Borough Market is the Black Pig, a lovely sandwich shop serving monstrous, delicious sandwiches! I ordered the Best One and even though I didn't try any others, I have to imagine it truly is the best one! Filled with warm pork paired with a crisp apple slaw and truffley cheese, this sandwich is giving all sorts of flavors. It was complex and each bite filled with all sorts of textures from the crisp bread to the tender meat, the crunchy slaw and the saucey spread and cheese. This sandwich is huge so it can easily be shared by two people if you're enjoying a day of eats!

Hi. This is your sign to head to Bourough Market for the Honey Truffle Parmesan sandwich. 10/10. No notes. A full tummy!

Heard great things about the sandwiches and we ordered The Best One! There was a line when we came but it actually moved pretty quick. I was a little underwhelmed with it with all the hype but it's still a solid sandwich and glad I got to try it. Since it was so busy, we just ate this standing around wherever we could find an open spot.

Project Sandwich - El Jefe

So basically the El Jefe has ruined other sandwiches for me. Thanks, Project Sandwich. Sure, I can…read morestill get a decent sandwich elsewhere, enjoy the first few bites but then I realise, oh, this isn't a delicious cuban sandwich lovingly prepared with good quality ingredients that's so huge I could never finish it all. All sandwiches should strive to this level. The first time I had an El Jefe I even saved the half I couldn't eat (I don't do leftovers) as consigning it to the bin was just too sad of a fate. The second time I had one I brought someone else along. The pork has some really interesting spicing - to the point that at first, I wasn't sure I even liked it. But yes, it's delicious. Even the ham is warmed through on the flat top before going in. It's all generously sauced before being pressed into a flat, hot, crusty delicious hunk of food. Just try it. If you don't like it, call me. I'll come have the other half!

I've tried several different Cuban sandwiches before. They've been pretty good for the most part…read morewith a couple I'd dare say were very good. But they all pale in comparison to the Sandwich Project and their El Jefe. It was a drizzly day when I came here on the recommendation of my wife. I dare say it was because of the iffy weather that they weren't all that busy - in fact on this particular day, none of the collection of excellent stalls at Kerb at Kings Cross were busy. Ordering is simple - they do two sandwiches, one was the El Jefe, the other was a club sandwich of some description with a fried egg. You pay, get a number and then wait. But don't go too far, because watching the detail and effort they put into the sandwiches is worth the price of admission alone. For example, with the El Jefe - they put the ham and pork on the flat top. I've only ever seen that done for a sandwich on shows like Diners, Drive Ins and Dives, and films like Chef - I've certainly never heard of it being done in a British restaurant or streetfood vendor. The best I've had before was someone fried the sandwich in butter, but the ham never touched the grill. Immediately I'm enthralled. Then they finish the up on a plancha! They had an actual plancha! Ok sure, it could have been a panini press in another life, I'm no expert, so I wouldn't know the difference by looking at it. But it did the job - it pressed it down into an edible size and toasted the bread. As for the sandwich? Sublime. I no longer know whether this or Liberty Cheesesteak's original cheesesteak is the best sandwich in London (that Cheesesteak has been my undisputed king for several years). It's a close tie, certainly. That is how good the El Jefe is. The London sandwich scene has a new challenger!

They're also really nice and polite. Over the course of several visits, I tried the sirloin special, the coronation chicken, the chicken escalope, and the chicken/bacon/sweet corn sandwiches. I also tried the scotch eggs. My favorite was the coronation chicken, which I'd never had before (I don't think we have it in the States), but everything I tried was tasty and I'd be happy to have all of them again. The sandwiches are pretty reasonably priced at under £6, which is nice for an area where it's easy to spend the same amount on a cup of coffee and a muffin. I've always been in and out of the shop in just a few minutes, even when it's busy. Their prime lunch traffic seems to come around 12:30 and later; it was pretty empty the 1 time I went at 12. I've always been able to pay with my American bank card without any issues. Definitely recommend this place if you need lunch in the area! They also have breakfast, although I've never tried it.
