It has been a while since I last went to Purebread in Vancouver. I am surprised to see one in this area - Cheakamus Crossing. Not much space for dining in. Just a long bar counter by the window. Mostly a grab and go place for coffee and baked goods. The buns, cakes, cookies, scones and bread looked delicious! The prices have also gone way up. Most items closer to $7-9 range. I had the cheddar jalapeño scone. It was huge and so good. I warmed it up at home and it still tasted good. Parking is available out front. read more

I was super excited to try this particular location given all the reviews about this place. The bacon, cheese and chive scone was delicious. Highly recommend. I also got a spinach/ ricotta roll that wasn't good... something was off about it. Either was a day old or the filling hadn't been mixed properly. They heated it for me to have right away but the filling was still cold and the pastry soft, not crisp and flaky (perhaps I got too spoiled with the peaked pie experience of really good quality). Stick with the bread and scones category of baked goods... that seems their forte. read more

Ok you must must absolutely come to this place! We had to try so many of their pastries because everything looked amazing and delicious!!! The flavors are very unique and special. One that really stuck out for me was the peach and rosemary pastry, absolute perfection and flavors just dance in your mouth!!! There's no better place to undo your hard day of skiing than at Purebread. Upon walking in, your nostrils will be assaulted by the scent of butter and warmth and fluffiness. This dangerous, toxic aroma will possibly compel you to acquire more than three types of cake, several scones, an entire loaf of bread, and countless samples. Am I saying this just because it happened to me? From the lack of table space between the hours of 3 and 5, I can confidently say there's an allure to these carbs in every variety that would lead even the most virtuous of Whole-30/paleo/gluten-free adherents into temptation. If you get one thing, get a scone. The perfectly crumbly apricot cherry vanilla is the clear winner. Ginger comes in second because it's a little tougher texture-wise, but those delectable ginger morsels are to die for. The vegan coconut tasted more like bread - I'd pass. The blueberry compote-topped scone was likewise uninspiring, and in contrast to the saccharine compote, the bread part tasted kind of like cardboard. Bar-wise, the chocolate chip brownie creation is somehow more decadent than the sum of its parts. The OMG is aptly named, and will dependably provoke this reaction in any diehard chocolate lover. The banana chocolate chip bar is oddly cold, and was just OK by my book, but my sister swore by it. There are some interesting flavors here. The chocolate rosemary (Adults Only) cookie has a very strong rosemary taste that I found very off-putting. Likewise, the lemon lavender loaf had a pretty strong taste of lavender, so you have to be chill with that. Still better than the lemon buttercream loaf, which had delicious icing, but was a little too cake-y/not moist enough for my liking. And because it's called PureBREAD (really, maybe it should be purecake?), we had to sample a loaf per day. The cranberry walnut was standout, as was the super seedy (and it felt *somewhat* wholesome eating it because pumpkin seeds are healthy, right?). The rosemary was delicious as well, but more run-of-the-mill. If you're craving savory, go for the jalapeno cheddar scone or this little egg muffin creation with bacon. The tomato pizzette creation was good, but there are better things to be had in this spread of infinite wonders. OK, I was wondering why I gained five pounds when I've been exercising all day, but I think I see the problem... read more

Great place tons of selection of pastries and many more! They had around 4 Gluten Free items, the one I had was some kind of rice crispy square on steroids, it had peanut butter, chocolate, marshmallows and rice crisps etc. It was great. The coffee tasted good and the place had a nice atmosphere. The only thing that didn't get it to the 5 star rating was the size of the place. It needs to be just a little bigger! Purebread is pure bliss! We came to this bakery because we heard rave reviews about it. My boyfriend's client said he visited this place like twice a day when he was visiting Whistler or something frequent like that! The place is adorable and smells like an awesome bakery should smell; baked goodness. It's located behind the Olympic rings which is easy to locate, and there are some tables outside too for those who'd like to enjoy their treats outdoors. We tried their croissant with mozzarella, sun-dried tomatoes and basil, another savory pie with broccoli and cheddar inside, and another sweet treat, but my fave was definitely the croissant. It was unlike any other croissant I've ever had and it was quite memorable. It was still good cold too! This is the perfect place to grab a quick sweet or savory snack, or even a latte or mocha because they serve espresso as well. read more

So this review is actually for their pop up shop located at the Whistler Lodge Marketplace at the Village. They are there temporarily for the 13-14 winter season. Even for a pop up, the set up is extremely adorable. They've got all their loaves of bread and pastries laid out and you see them as soon as you walk into the door. The pastries are amazing. Each and every one of them look delicious and decadent and I wanted to try each and every one them. Sadly I didn't have the stomach space to so so. After pondering for many many minutes, I finally settled on the earl grey lavender scone, the pecan sticky bun, and the spinach & feta brioche pastry. The scone was one of the best scones I've ever had. Each bite had yummy hints of lavender and earl grey and it was gigantic! The sticky bun was sticky and mighty tasty. And the spinach & feta pastry was one of the best savory pastries I've ever had. It even had pine nuts in it, which I love! Everything I picked out was amazing. I wish I had gotten more! They had lots more pastries and cookies. And I really wanted to get a loaf of bread - all the flavors sounded so amazing, especially the potato/rosemary one. I can't wait to come back to Whistler so I can come back to purebread. Next time, purebread will be my first stop so that I have pastries and bread stocked up for breakfast, lunch, and dinner! They sell crack! A bar of crack... and it's delicious and obviously addictive. The bacon jam toastie us like the best grilled cheese sandwhich. I wish they had soup. It would be so perfect. I also go the carrot cake, coconut cake, Nutella brioche and chocolate almond croissant. All were amazing. The coffee was not overly roasted and from stumptown. My friend got the pistachio zucchini cake, crack and spinach pastry which she raved about. Buckwheat cherry scone is apparently their most popular, but I didn't get that. ..sounds too "healthy". There's so much there it's really hard to chose. All about $3.50-5 each. Always a long line. Go in am for fresh and available items. Very nice and helpful staff. read more

They had a tent setup by the playground area apparently because they're in the midst of moving store fronts. Still had an incredible selection of baked goods. Cash only, although they didn't turn down my American dollars. Here's what I tried: - morning glory: best dang cinnamon roll ever! Super cinnamon-y and fluffy. I could eat a dozen of these! - spinach corn bread: with chunks of corn and more savory than sweet. Again, very moist and fluffy, incredibly flavorful. -salted caramel bar: not very salty, but still very good. - berries brioche: I feel like a broken record but again, very fluffy and moist, but with a slightly crunchy outer layer. It had whole berries baked in. - banana coffee muffin: I'm not a huge fan of banana-flavored things but this was pretty unique and yummy They had an item called crack, which I Didn't try but way to call it what it is! read more

I came to Whistler to go skiing this past week. While there I was on the hunt to find a place to carb up before hitting the slopes. This little bakery caught my eye while walking around Whistler Village. The aromas from the fresh baked bread and pastries were apparent right when you walk in. And the selections offered at Purebread are plentiful. To pair with the great bread/pastry selections were some great coffee and espresso options. I'm a huge mocha drinker and the mocha at Purebread does not disappoint. Got a mocha everyday I came in. In total I tried 4 different items during my trips here and can tell you, you can't go wrong with whatever choice you make. It's all good! This was only a three day ski trip, but I happened to go to Purebread all 3 days. While I was sad that my trip was over and I wouldn't be able to ski anymore, I was also sad that I wouldn't be able to enjoy Purbread anymore. This place is a must if you are on a trip to Whistler/Blackcomb. Can't wait to make it back myself! read more

I haven't tried the full breadth of what Purebread has to offer, but just from a visual perspective, they offer some very amazingly delicious baked goods. What I do know is that (1) the staff here are amazingly friendly and just very helpful in general and (2) they do make a pretty mean loaf of bread. Since i was just passing by and decided on the dysfunctional ale bread which uses beer from the Whistler Brewing Company right across the street. Upon getting the bread, you can immediately tell that this is a dense loaf. Breaking into it, it has a nice crust with a semi fuffy, semi dense interior that is perfect for dipping. The bread itself doesn't taste like beer, but it definitely has some wheat-y, nutty tones to it that I really enjoyed. I'm looking forward to dropping by this place again and trying out some of the other delicious items that they have here! read more

If there was nothing else in Whistler beside Purebread and Whistler Brewing Company, we would still drive here from California twice a year! You can't go wrong at Purebread unless you don't eat carbs - get a carrot at the grocery store instead. If you like pastries, bread, and all the other lovely things full of carbohydrates, there is something for you here. There are even a few gluten-free options, so really, if you can't find something you like here, it's your own darn fault! I love, love, love the chocolate-bottom banana bread, and the cream in the cinnamon cream bun is so decadent and full of fresh vanilla bean that you'll think you died and went to heaven. I've also had the raspberry pistachio cream tart (not sure the actual name but it was a lovely crispy phyllo covered in vanilla cream and topped with fresh raspberries and roasted pistachios. I went in there NYE - I'd had a cake and a pie from there before. Both were fine -nothing to write home about but good enough to warrent a decent review or no review at all. However, for a little lunch snack, the boyfriend and I picked up a pudgie pie. Now don't get me wrong- it was a tasty little thing. It's filled with potatoes and cheese but it gave me days of extreme explosive diarrhea. Now you may wonder, how could I possibly know it was from the pudgie pie? Early that morning I had eggs and toast as I do every morning. Clean and pasteurized eggs - pretty low risk breakfast. Then I ate the pudgie pie 5 or 6 hours later and pretty shortly there after felt like scum. My stomach was bloated and even though I drank seemingly endless litres of water, I didn't pee much. I knew what that meant. From there on out I've been almost exclusively peeing out my bhole. Notable comment: this was on NYE and pure bread was closed NYD so not likely that they would be making fresh product. 2) the pudgie pie was given to me immediately from a stoic cashier (not warmed up) but, it was very warm, so it was sitting in the heat for gosh knows how long just stewing up a storm. 3) whilst readying myself to depart in the car, that same stoic cashier came out to wrestle with a dog - now there's nothing wrong with that innately - I've wrestled many a dog in my day. But assuming she minimally washed her hands, she still can transfer something nasty from her clothes. I'm not saying don't go, but the products look way better than they taste and if you care about health of your hoop then personally I would say do t get the pudgie pie. Mediocre at best and I'm more than 3 days post pie and thus far haven't pooped anything solid. read more

Nothing like ruining your experience when the girls rush you through the line. We went in and saw a Creme Brûlée bun and said to ourselves, we have to try it. It was the best pastry that I have ever eaten. Crunchy coated shell, soft croissant type roll and lots of custard filling. A little expensive but well worth it. A must eat baked good. You will thank me later. I have very high standards for bakeries which means I am disappointed quite a bit in Vancouver (but not in Paris). This bakery nails it! I don't remember everything I had here so I'm obviously due for some more "research". I do recall I tried savoury and sweet though and both were perfectly achieved. My into. to the bakery was their first location at Function Junction, a little hut of bakery bliss where they pour your coffee through individual ceramic cone filters lined up over cups on the countertop, very old school in the best sense of the phrase. I am especially impressed by the huge variety of baked goods they offer. I believe they even make hearty breads too. Since everything is up to their high standard it makes it very hard to choose, so the only solution is to spend a long time on the visual feast and then select several to sample. The "adults only" cookies are pretty special; edgy with dark chocolate, rosemary and scintillating sea-salt. The cheddar chive scones are chewy caky bliss bombs too. It would take you a long time to try everything here so I suggest we all do a little research of our own and compare notes . . . read more

I am not messing with the roll of 5 star reviews of this place. SO WELL DESERVED! While I haven't been to the Gastown location yet, both Whistler locations have been consistent in 1. friendly service, 2. sensory overload for my eyes/nose/mouth, and 3. adding a few more inches to my waist. And let me say - I am NOT complaining. There is no other place to get a scone than here, I've tried most of them - the sour cherry buckwheat, earl grey lavendar, blueberry lemon basil, white chocolate raspberry, apricot vanilla bean..am I missing any? It is so hard to choose a favourite as they are ALL EQUALLY bursting with flavours...seriously, they should call this place Purescone. $4 for a scone may seem a little much but it's worth it and you get both quality and quantity. Woman cannot live by a scone a day but when I am itching for a craving, I am very happy that there is now a location a little closer to home. read more

I wanted pretty much everything they had to offer, but we settled on the following: Lemon/berry cake slice Salted caramel chocolate cake slice Macaroon (as big as my fist! not the dainty French kind) Personal quiche One other chocolate coconut bar that I cannot remember the name of A latte The cakes were out of this world! They were so rich and flavorful and moist. The frosting was absolutely perfect from the consistency to the amount to the balance of flavors and complemented the dense rich cake beautifully. I just had a few bites of the rest, but each pastry was unique and full of flavor. We will be heading back to Whistler in a couple of months and we will definitely be stopping here for more sweet treats. read more

I popped into this place because it was across from Whistler Brewing where I just had a tasting tour with She Who Must Be Obeyed. The brewery informed us that the bakery used the spent malt grains to make a Dysfunction Ale bread. Intrigued, we bought a loaf plus a loaf of hazelnut fig as well as a brownie, an OMG and a coconut slice. The OMG is very similar to the brownie and I'm not sure why they carry both. The brownie is excellent and has a slight edge on the OMG which was supposed to be richer but was lighter and perhaps a little less sweet but not as satisfying as the brownie. The coconut slice was also quite tasty. But the bread. The bread was awful. Both loaves were not quite fully baked and were slightly gummy in the middle. But even if this was not the case, they were so very, very bland. The Dysfunction bread could have been so much more but I suspect that it was made with a quick process and appeared to be not properly made as the crumb was very badly developed. Insufficient kneading and/or fermentation time would be my guess. The hazelnut loaf suffered from the same thing and both could definitely have used more salt. I would go back for the cakes but steer clear of the bread. read more

Purebread is pure heaven. I love pastries of all kinds and Purebread does not disappoint. I came in to get a couple of things for the drive down to SeaTac and ended up with 3 scones, 1 piece of cake, 1 chocolate chip sour cherry cookie and frittata. Then I proceeded to consume all but 2 scones - blame it on the long border X-ing line, making me bored and hungry, the worse combination. But Purebread eased the pain with pure bliss. The frittata was light and fluffy with barely noticeable amount of bacon, the chunks of potato were perfectly cooked. The cookie was perfect texture, crispy edges incredibly chewy everywhere else, with the perfect amount of cherries and chocolate, a tad too sweet for me but I think I prefer my sweets not so sweet. The peach ginger cake was flavorful and perfect, not too sweet (it's more like a bread, no icing or frosting), just yummy. The poppyseed scone was light in texture, not too sweet, tender and delicious on the inside. I froze the other 2 scones for future consumption, even I can't handle that much sweet in 2 days. So good, Purebread was the perfect way to come down the mountain after skiing. I will be back. read more

This place is the epitome of what a bakery should be! I love pastries and baked goods, and have been searching for a bakery all my life that has a little bit of everything. This place has it all! From cakes to cookies to pies and bars... I mean EVERYTHING. I wish I could order one of each of their item cause I was mesmerized by their variety! My husband's favorite was the chocolate pecan bars. I love the apple pie cake and the avalanche bar. Oh my god, this place is the best bakery I've seen, probably ever. I was skeptical as my friend pulled me into this shop as I don't have much of a sweet tooth. Often times, I find really cute treats that just taste like it's chocked full of sugar and Purebread is definitely the exception to this. All of their treats look like they are made with passion and a love for actually eating the treats, rather than just looking at them. I had the brownie with a layer of raspberry cheesecake inbetween and it was just to die for. I could not stop eating it. It was not overly sugary and just so decadent. I also tried a bite of a vegan loaf and it was so moist, I'm not sure how it's possible. Again, delicious, flavourful and not overly sweet. This is definitely my kind of bakery and I wish there were more bakeries like this where I live. read more

Seems like I have to go and be solo and give this place 3 stars...I didn't know baked goods could have such a big following! The decor is very minimalistic and I was surprised that they don't have a location in the village but rather in an industrial area off the highway. I mean nothing is more enjoyable than walking on the highway and stopping by for a scone...so star taken off for bad location. Anyways the only reason I drove by was because a friend highly recommended their sour cherry scones...so while in Rome I decided to do as Romans:) Unfortunately, they were out of the sour cherry scone so I opted to try their basil and sun dried tomato scone, which was like a small slice of pizza. I have to say the consistency of the bread was good but nothing out of this world! read more
