I did the 30-day trial in March-April 2014 and absolutely loved it. I was very new to yoga at the time and ended up going to class roughly 25 of those 30 days. I wish I could afford to attend this studio regularly!
Pros:
- There is a wide variety of class styles, from yin (which I like to describe as "very deliberately laying around on the floor" and stretching), to intense, high-energy core and power classes. There are many types of vinyasa and flow classes here and I really think there's something for everyone.
- The schedule is laid out conveniently for everyone - early-bird and mid-morning classes, lunch-break classes, afternoon, evening and post-work classes, and later at night they dim the lights for "wind down" classes. No matter what your personal schedule, it's easy to fit a couple classes into your week. The classes are often packed during rush hour, but never overcrowded or uncomfortable. They don't cram the room too full.
- They are very accommodating to yogis of all levels. I did not find this studio to be pretentious or judgmental whatsoever, which can be a problem at new, trendy studios.
- The receptionists are always incredibly sweet, polite and helpful.
- The locker rooms are clean, bright, spacious and gorgeous. Even after a packed class there is plenty of room. There are 2 stalls and several showers, and plenty of bench space.
- The practice room itself is laid out nicely, with tons of windows, soothing colors, and soft lighting. The heat was never unbearable (this is not a Bikram studio - Bikram yoga is hotter than regular "hot yoga"). The positioning of the instructor and participants is different depending on the class.
- The teachers are EXCELLENT. Jen and Megan are my favorites. Jen has a flow, rhythm and teaching style that I found very easy to follow and she's great at reminding you to breathe at the appropriate times. Megan often has background music going in her classes, which enhances the practice, and she incorporates spirituality for a complete mind-body-and-soul yoga experience.
- They have a very convenient app that lets you pre-register and view the class schedule for the day or week.
- They sell awesome glass water bottles for $5 if you forget yours, as well as tons of beautiful (but expensive) yoga gear and clothing near the front desk.
Cons:
- It's expensive if you're not on the 30-day trial plan!
-Some of the teachers seem to lack enthusiasm and their classes can feel forced and redundant.
- Many teachers use a difficult flow/rhythm when teaching, that newer and less experienced yogis may have trouble following. You really need to try out lots of instructors to find one that your practice "clicks" with. read more
