Place for you to relax with your laptop if needed over a snack. But I get in.. and out. 1 hour 15 min. So that makes me more consistent. I really like this brand of gym. It's bright and spacious and offers co-ed and women's only areas. It's also usually incredibly clean (hey busy time in winter is impossible for any business). I really like the women's only area at this location. Lots of equipment and all in good shape. It's bright and open with lots of mirrors. This location also has a TRX and space for stretching and mat work. I don't like the half lockers. The ones at Nepean location offer full locker with a shelf on top for all your little things, but now I'm getting picky. Only downside to the entire layout is using the co-ed pool as a female. The co-ed change room is first of all co-ed, but also small and doesn't offer the same amenities as the women's change room. But accessing the women's change room from the co-ed pool requires crossing the lobby. Not ideal. Overall, the hours and the amenities make this my choice despite being a bit of a drive read more

Last week, I received a letter directly from a Collection Agency for an "Overdue" Movati payment. On March 15'th 2020, I had contacted Movati to freeze my membership when the first 3 cases of covid identified in Ottawa, were from my workplace, and I was feeling very sick. The next day, on March 16th, 2020, Movati was closed for the first Lockdown all over the province. I had $148 of the balance ( according to the email I received on March 15th in the afternoon) but I could not reach Movati to make the payment or solve the problem since it was closed for several months. In the meantime, I was going back and forth to the hospital After 21 months, just last week, I received a letter from a COLLECTION AGENCY, stating that I need to pay $480 for an overdue Movati payment. There were NO NOTIFICATIONS in between, no calls, no REMINDER, no emails from Movati until the collection agency letter. This is not good customer care!!! Stay away! read more

I find that these one star review are absolutely ridiculous. People are so quick to go online and write something nasty portraying themselves as victims. Where only if they put a little effort and used a little common sense none of these supposed "issues and concerns" would exist. Here are some facts supporting MY decision to be a member of this gym for a long time AND to actually view my experience as 5 star. Gym is well equity, well maintained, and Very clean. Very good hours Very professional, friendly stuff Price reflects what you get, it's a large new open aired gym, not an old stinky basement. I've personally trained here myself, I've hired a personal trainer and can tell you it was worth the money. So my conclusion is that it's a great gym if you are about training and working on improving yourself. If your idea is that you gonna come here once or twice and someone will change your life for you, just stay home, watch TV shows and eat burgers. read more

I have not just become stronger but also more knowledgeable and aware about my own body because Marina explains the scientific reason for doing each and every exercise. i came here a few times with day passes and if it was closer to me i would probably switch over, the gym itself is MASSIVE! Theres a women only area which has a but less (mostly cardio) and a general area which is nice. i also went to a hot yoga session and it was very nice she put lavender on our hands at the end which was a nice younique touch! They also have professional hair dryers in the change room!!!! The only downside I find is that its SO BUSY because its awesome, so if you dont enjoy being surrounded by hundreds of people this isnt the place for you. Buyer Beware!! My wife and myself joined in June. Recently noticed that they had out down automatic renewal when the contract comes new next year. Told them that I generally don't like that option and would prefer if they would remove that option only to be told that I had already signed the contract and it couldn't be removed. Be very careful about signing any contracts with them. Had also signed up for personal training but found they were always getting you to sign up for more sessions. Be very careful. My impression is that it's all about getting as much out of you as possible. read more

Have been to this gym more than once, unfortunately. Both times the people at this front ignored us when we walked in, got to talk to a racist trainer stating that we might like the Kanata centre more because it's primarily "whites" and it's not like train yards "which is in the "ghetto" and I wouldn't have to deal with welfare kids. Also at the drink bar the employees seemed inconvenienced by me ordering a shake. They then added what seemed like a pound of ice and now my shake tastes like cold water. Very disappointed. And surprisingly enough the trainyard location is excellent. read more

Movati is one of the best gyms going. It is clean, the equipment is maintained and all classes are included in the membership price. I like the option of not having to pay extra for the pool or yoga classes. It's a one stop shop and the staff are always friendly. I've been a member since it opened in Kanata and have had no issues. read more

I joined Movati in February and absolutely love this gym. There are tons of different classes every single day. The women's locker room is massive and spotlessly clean all the time. Employees are all exceptional and so helpful always. The pools are awesome, the saunas, the co-ed gym is gigantic and never had to wait for anything yet. Absolutely awful customer experience. Paid fees for over a year when I wasn't using the facilities as I had moved far away and could not physically make it in to cancel. Would not let me cancel over the phone. When I finally was able to get to Kanata they then informed me I could have cancelled by mail, but was never told this on the phone. I was then charged 2 weeks dues as a cancellation fee, and charged another 2 weeks dues because I did not give 30 days notice before coming in to cancel. Complete money grab and unfriendly and unprofessional customer service at this location. Will not recommend Movati Kanata to anyone. read more

Movati Kanata is getting a 1 star rating mostly because of the unresponsive management. The instructors who run the classes are generally good. The facilities are decent but if you have children the playroom is WAY OVER SUBSCRIBED as are many of the fitness classes. If you don't call the playroom to book at 0830 the day before you will not get a space the next day during peak periods. They have also taken equipment out of this facility and moved it to newer facilities as marketing at the expense of the regular clients rather than just buying additional equipment (Tour de France bikes to name but one). The class sizes are getting too big and it is difficult to get a spot unless you come early. The nice facility doesn't make up for an uncaring/unresponsive management that allows for over subscription and poor customer service. It's too bad, as we had been members since it opened. This just proves that bad management can run any good business into the ground. read more

Yes, it is expensive and you have to sign the crazy contract. But I really like how clean the whole place is and how hard the cleaning staff work. I have been to other movati's and they aren't as clean as Kanata. There is always a woman cleaning the women's change room, she rotates through cleaning all the areas of the change room her entire shift. Even, vacuuming up the salt from the mats in the winter. The entire facility is clean and i have never had to delay a workout due to machines or weights being available. The classes are great, you just have to find a class and instructor that clicks for you. I do find that on holidays and summer time, the number of classes decreases which can be frustrating, but the demand is just not there during those times. I haven't tried personal training yet, I said I wouldn't, but now after 8 months of training on my own, I might be interested in trying it. read more
