If you are more sat set having a mindful experience, there is slower flow yoga classes that are geared more toward stretching. As someone who considers traditional yoga a little bit too slow for my liking someone who cant sit still, I would really recommend the ritual classes. These classes are a mix of HIIT like movements with yoga stretching. Imagine yoga mixed with 80s aerobic classes. Would come back for sure. That combined with a really reasonable $135/month membership and multiple locations makes this a must go to if you want a new fitness space to call home

I am loving the brand new Pure Yoga studio on Bank street! The free intro week seemed to be a major…read morehit amongst locals last week as most classes were pretty full-up. I'm now on my intro month for a mere $40 which makes this some pretty darn affordable sweating... I have frequented different studios for years now (Halifax, Vancouver, Gold Coast etc) and this is one of the cleaner, more well thought out studios I have experienced. There is a wide range of classes on offer for those that enjoy a more meditative yin to pure power which seems to embody more of the moksha vibe. This new spot can be a little tough to see if you're rushing down Bank on foot (rushing to yoga... always seems counter-intuitive to me, but who wants that spot by the door? Or who is capable of leaving their house more than 15 minutes before they have to be somewhere for that matter??) Anyway...keep in mind you're actually headed up to the second floor. Clean change rooms with showers and lockers are available as well as pretty glass water bottles for $5. Everyone is super friendly too and there's none of that vegan-yogi-snootiness endemic to some studios. Yes, I eat animals and sugar! I still wanna do yoga too! If your work day allows it, the daytime classes are much less busy. The one draw back to this studio seems to be that there isn't a quiet policy in the hot room so when I rolled up 20 minutes early (a major personal feat) for a pure power 6pm class last Thursday hoping to thaw out in peace, I was bombarded by folks chatting and planning their weekends. Take it to the bar, will ya! Overall a great new spot! Students and seniors get 50% off memberships too I should mention although there's a pesky restriction on which classes you can attend: M-F 6:30am-4pm.

The class I attended was fantastic!.... but be prepared to sweat! even more than other studios which I do not mind. The music during the session was a big loud so if noise is not your thing, I would steer clear. I removed one star only because I found the instructor freestyled the session a bit too much. In the changing room I do not recall seeing any lockers. If there are, I apologize. If it is your first time, they will offer you a complimentary towel which is a nice added touch.

Beautiful space in the upstairs hot room, high ceilings, large windows and the rooom is a good temp (not too hot). I went to Melissa's Power Vinyasa class on a Monday night and although left without doing a standard sun salutation, I enjoyed getting out of the yoga rut I seem to have fallen into. The class starts at 5:45 and ends at 7:15 - which is perfect to sneak in after work and not take over your night. Drop in fees are bit pricey ($17) but it's more affordable with a student card ($12), and they offer a variety of packages. This is that place I've been looking for to get out of my yoga rut!

They have different styles, but both are fabulous. It's a great place for beginners and they clearly are very skilled at what they do. It is not hot yoga. It's room temperature. If you are looking for or are thinking of switching studios, check this out for small class sizes and wonderful teachers.

We are able to see in what ways we can adapt for our students especially beginners. Another fun thing is that even though most classes are tailored to all levels, there are several classes for each individual level. The 2nd floor space is really gorgeous -- lots of attention to detail from little potted plants and clean hardwood floors (with stickers, so people know where to line up their mats to maximize space in busy classes -- so smart!). There is just 1 studio but it is spacious with lots of props available. There is a small boutique, and the women's change room has 2 showers as well as small lockable cubbies if you bring a lock. They have filtered water for your water bottle. Washrooms are across the hall. I felt immediately welcome and the girl at reception was really nice. The 2nd time I came, I was also warmly greeted. I like that they have a wide variety of classes, clearly marked on the schedule as room temperature, warm, and hot. I did a warm "go with the flow" class, which was like a vinyasa style and could be as rigorous as you wanted. I also went to a morning community flow ($10 drop-in), which was also great, with lots of hands-on adjustments and relaxing, non-intrusive music. Both teachers I had were friendly and open in their approach. The other students were from all levels and backgrounds. It does seem like a place where anyone would be welcome and if I lived in Ottawa, I could see myself becoming a regular here. For any info, see their website -- it's very nicely laid out and had lots of info so I knew what to expect.

The rebrand to "Elevate" and the complete rebirth of the physical studio has made it clean, warm, inviting and super zen. The staff and instructors (I have a soft spot in my yoga heart for Miska) are fantastic. Classes range for all levels and includes classic yin, flow and hot options. There are temperature choices too for those who would like to have a variety of classes. Please note that the hot classes are truly "drip, drip, drip" classes. There is pretty much a class at your fingertips from 6:15 am (hard core types) to 9:00 pm (time to sweat it out and go for a beer). I've found that the class participants are a nice mix of young/not-so-young, men/women, newbies/yogipros. I recommend trying one of the "ball/tuneup" classes. They will change your life ... or what you thought was your life. Ample changerooms, lockers and showers for men and women. Students are welcome. Discounts available. Lots of packages to suit your busy lifestyle. Yoga mats and towels can be rented. Yes, it's on the 2nd floor and there are stairs, so there is an accessibility issue. She eats, breathes, and sleeps the Daily Method and you can see her passionate right away when you first meet her.
