Pure Turbo Not a company I would recommend anyone to do business with. In summer of 2024 I had the dreaded ceramic wheel turbo failure in my 2019 Ferrari 488. The exhaust wheel on the passenger side shattered into pieces which is quite common on these cars. I brought the car to a local shop that specializes in exotic cars. We discussed options and landed on Pure Turbo's Pure 800 turbo upgrades. Both turbos were removed from the car and sent off to be rebuilt and upgraded wheels installed. Once the turbo's came back from Pure they were installed back into the car along with aftermarket catless downpipes and a mild tune so we wouldn't have a check engine light for downstream O2 sensors. The car was then ran on the dyno to confirm air/ fuel mixture and ensure timing tables were conservative. The goal was to make the car reliable. Fast forward to spring of 2025 the car is finally done and I collect it and bring it home. Unfortunately I was working out of town and had very little time to drive it over the spring and summer only taking it on a few short drives. On one of these short drives in August suddenly the car started smoking excessively, I pulled over as soon as it was safe to do so (maybe 30 seconds to get to a safe area to stop) and had the car towed back to the shop. They pulled the car back apart and found that the driver side turbo had completely failed. The cartridge/ bearing assembly had fallen apart, both the exhaust and intake wheels were damaged, oil filled the intake piping, intercooler, exhaust system, muffler, etc. The turbo was sent back to Pure as it only had very limited driving time. After receiving it they determined it was faulty and rebuilt it again at no cost. After several hours of cleaning oil out of various components the turbo was installed once again and the car put back on the dyno to confirm everything was still working correctly. After a few minutes of running the car on the dyno a sound that resembled engine knock was noticed. The car was shut off immediately and the oil was drained. An oil sample was taken and sent to Blackstone for analysis and confirmed bearing material in the oil. Pure turbo refuses to take any responsibility despite their product's failure directly causing damage to my car's engine. I have spent months corresponding back and forth with them via email in hopes they would offer some sort of reasonable compensation but they are flat out denying any responsibility. Just a warning to anyone out there who is considering doing business with Pure save yourself a lot of grief and use a company that stands behind their products. read more

I needed a turbo rebuild with a tight 5-day deadline from start to finish due to an unexpected repair coinciding with a shop-move and Pure Turbos came out in spades to get me out of the tight situation with days to spare. 1-day turnaround on a complete rebuild of my turbo. Shout-out to Jimmy and his Team, he was personally there every step of the way and super responsive from start to finish over both email and phone. Very friendly and technically knowledgeable with all things turbo-related. He went above and beyond to work and walkthrough with my master technician over the phone to diagnose the issue and come to a conclusion on what was needed. Purchased a turbo from the company a few months ago. Everything went as expected, but after a month with only a couple hundred miles, the turbo failed. I understand these things happen, and just wanted a replacement since the part is under warranty. Pure, however, will not provide a full replacement because they are now outsourcing some of their parts with Garrett. This process has been very frustrating when it is a clear manufacturer error. Where do we start with this company...? Oh, and the reviewers who seem to be on a major fanboy trip vs providing facts? 1. I was told 3 weeks to get my turbo prior to Black Friday. Numerous emails, numerous phone calls (of which they never answer the phone) yielded unsatisfactory results for a company that is supposed to provide a decent level of service when you're paying 1000/3000 or more for an upgrade on a vehicle. (Looks like it's going to be 4/5 weeks and there was no offer to pay for my rental car as the car just sits at the shop) 2. They blatantly lie to people. As you can see from other reviews, they tell you one time and BS you. Seems like they rob peter to pay paul (taking your turbo you send, then instead of sending you one back, they send yours out to someone else and wait for someone elses turbo to come in before you get yours. 3. They are P---s poor at planning. You know every year that Black Friday is coming up (my order placed before this), why would you not pre-plan this better? There are spent turbo casings online in quite a few places, or here is an idea, GET SOME CAST. 4. In every business you can provide (Extend) a little bit of elevated service in the event of an emergency etc... Not saying all the time, but they don't do it ever. Even with that being said, they still mislead people on times to get things done. 5. A friend of mine purchased a turbo from them (which is why I decided to come to this company). His came in pretty quick, I guess because they had his in stock. His turbo came in shortly after my order went in did BUT here is the caveat, the impellor on his turbo, was jank! It did not spin freely, it was just garbage. (no quality control). After many emails and calls they FINALLY got back to him and said they would overnight a replacement. NOW....... did that happen? (NOPE). 6. Did I mention they didn't answer phone calls, barely any emails (definitely not in a timely fashion), and the service is god awful? Along with quality control? Because they seem to be one of the few in town that work on these they offer you that same type of attitude. They feel as if they can provide subpar results and service but charge top of the line price. Remember they are using your housings in many cases so they are making quite a bit of money just doing an upgrade. At some point others need to quit ---- riding and actually be honest about their experience because it seems a lot of the people here where I am at have had bad experiences also but don't want to provide their experience. Highly disappointed with PURE TURBOS and I haven't even put the product on yet. There ARE NO EXCUSES for when you tell someone a certain time a product will be done and you can't execute other than your failure as a owner and OVER Taking orders knowing you can't fulfill them. If I treated my clients half as bad as PURE TURBOS treats their customers, I wouldn't have a business to come back to. Fortunately for me, I do not lie to people, I do not bait and switch, I do not mislead, and I honor my time frames. As well, I make exceptions for those that need something expedited. I'm not exactly sure what type of business these people are running. When you call, no one answers. When you leave a message, no one returns your call. (In my case, 4 messages) When you send an email, it takes them forever to respond; unless you're buying something and they received your order. I work for a small automotive shop and we used to promote this company to our clients. NOT ANYMORE!!!! I was working with their rep, wanted to place an order. He never got back to me. Called and emailed him and his partner Charles and nothing. I finally placed the order online and they failed to give me the wholesale price and no taxes due to being a business owner. I demanded a full refund which they agreed to, but then charged my account anyway. I would NOT recommend this business to anyone. Find another company to save yourself time, money, and a headache. I REALLY tried to do business with these guys, but they just weren't that interested in my business. I have a connection to Oceanside even though I'm halfway across the country, so they seemed like a good option to rebuild my turbo. Their website is pretty good, but as with everyone else in the turbo business, specific information is apparently classified SECRET. I had numerous phone calls and email exchanges with them to get a quote for rebuilding my turbo. The quotes were REALLY generic; just a price, without saying squat about what they were actually going to do for $500-ish or $700-ish. Literally like one line of info with a couple words. My two conversations with the tech were mildly informative, but with essentially no recommendations as to the best options, and never translated into a usable quote. The guys in the back may know turbos, but the girl working the desk and interfacing with the customers doesn't seem to know anything at all. This series of exchanges was not confidence inspiring. It was like pulling teeth to get information so they finally drove me away through neglect. I found a turbo specialty business closer to home that happily answered my questions and was very specific about what should be done to meet my requirements, and what it would cost. This turned out to be at least $100 less than what Pure Turbos estimated for whatever was included in their mystery quote. If you're local to SoCal and can drop in and deal with these guys face to face, know exactly what you need, or have good referrals, they may be a good shop. For an arm's length transaction by UPS I wouldn't recommend them based on my experience. read more

I decided to purchase the Pure Stage 1 for my B58 340i and the quality is not even comparable to the oem. The turbo spools way faster and pulls way better in upper rpm range. I wouldn't look for another company when it comes to upgrading your turbo. Excellent customer service. I was very pleased with the customer service and the quickness of service! The bearing in my Garrett GTX3071 started to go bad. I pulled the turbo off and contacted a few different companies. I contacted Carol at Pure Turbos and she quoted me $450 to do a rebuild, which was $300 cheaper than other places. I sent the turbo in and within a week I received notification the turbo was on its way back to me. I got a recommendation to change the oil line, which they did not carry. I ordered the oil line and when I received it, I found I could not simply unbolt it, but the turbo needed to be disassembled to install the new line. I contacted Carol again and she said send it back and they would install the oil line at no additional cost, shipping only. I really appreciated the quick shipping and responses from the customer service, it is always good to have a real person on the other side of the phone/email willing to help. read more

I figured a stock rebuild of an RDX turbo would be quick and easy for this shop. 7 business days was what I was quoted - 19 business days was the reality. Supposedly the one tech that was capable of rebuilding the turbo went on vacation the week after I dropped the turbo off, and when he got back the fancy balancing machine they have broke down. Got a small discount for my car being down nearly 3 times longer than it was supposed to be. I'll use another shop next time. read more

I had a Precision T67 Turbo rebuilt at a shop in South San Diego for $459 (tax included) and it was blowing a massive amount of oil out of my exhaust in less than 20 miles of operation on my car. I don't know much about turbos but I knew something wasn't right. I took the turbo apart and the oil seals looked loose to me. A couple of my buddies in the Toyota Supra world recommended this turbo shop in Oceanside for a rebuild. I drove up to Pure Turbos for a rebuild and showed my turbo to Chuck and Jesse and they let me know that my turbo was not only not "rebuilt", but it was also damaged! They recommended that I get my money back and they even offered to back me up over the phone. I was really taken aback by their honesty and straight-forwardness. They never met me before today and treated me as a friend instead of a customer. Why can't all businesses be like this? If you need work done on your turbos don't hesitate to hit these guys up. Being a business owner myself, I enjoy the benefits of Yelp.com and receive most of my new business from impressed potential customers who read my reviews. Ordered a replacement turbo cartridge and mistakenly clicked the wrong button and received the wrong cartridge. It was a Saturday and wouldn't have been able to get a hold of anyone at Pure Turbo, so after some contemplating, I pulled out my dial gauge and started measuring my OE turbo cartridge and compared it to the manufactured one from Pure Turbos, and wouldn't you know it? The parts would actually interchange!!! The only thing I wouldn't be using of theirs is the inner cool side housing and gasket.Since the cartridge was for a previous year model, I was able to reverse engineer the new cartridge and use my stock OEM housing and make it work. I have had zero problems and am impressed with the fitment and retrofitment of their newly manufactured cartridge. Things have worked out in the end and I am satisfied. Remember when ordering though to make sure your part #'s are correct and you won't have to pull a rabbit out of your hat, or anywhere else! LOL! read more

Just wanted to share what a great experience I had with pure Turbo! I lost a turbo on my 2000 Ford Excursion right before New Years! With just getting through Christmas and my daughters birthday I was strapped for cash!! I started searching around for a new, Rebuilt, or used Turbo to get our truck back on the road, used ones where selling for $300-$500, factory reman where $1500!!! (My good buddy discount was $1150) I went into Pure Turbos yesterday to see what they had to offer, talked with a really nice nolligable guy and within a few minutes I ordered a rebuilt turbo from them, I told him I needed it ASAP!! he said he could get it done by around 10:00 the next day!! I called at 10:00 and the lady on the phone said it was almost done, so I drove that way, got there at 10:30 and it was in a nice plastic bag and ready to go! I came home, installed (I'm a professional Yacht Tech, and ex race car builder) it runs better then new!! I could not be happier!! For $540 they where priced well below there competition, I was impressed by there shop, there professionalism! I purchased a Turbo Cartridge for my 2008 Mini Cooper S on Wednesday, July 3,2013 and received on Saturday, July 6, 2013. (Only took 3 days!) I installed it on Sunday and drove my car for 50 miles and my turbo stop working?!!! Some how my turbo had an oil problem so I sent the cartridge back to Pure Turbo. I spoke to Chuck whom was very attentive in helping me as he will replace the part cover under warranty and explained everything to me. i honestly say, i have never been more satisfied with a turbo before. i bought a 6031 from here, i had to get a few things custom (water jacket and a t04s cover) but it was no problem at all. their pricing is very very good, some of their "pricing" they cant necessarily advertise so youll have to call them or come in yourself ive delt buisness with them prior to an actual turbo purchase. i tried the "ebay" challenege and bought one from china, i brought it to them to get it rebuilt and the owner(i think) jessie told me straight up, "yeah this isnt going to be a efficent turbo at all." i was pretty damn hard headed so i put it on anyway and lo and behold, he was right. that turbo blew balls however lasted all 15 thousand miles it was on haha, thanks to these guys. i was quoted that the turbo was 4 grams off balance which is a pretty damn big deal. so when i came back into the market looking for a new turbo i asked for jessie again, this guy does not BS around. he pretty much told me straight up what i needed, what would fit my hp goals/price and didnt "fluff" up anything or try to tell me what "I" wanted to hear. he told what would work and what didnt. and well, he was right. the 6031 performs exactly like he described and i am way more than happy with my purchase. im also a moderator on mazdaspeedforums.org and heres a link to my build thread if any of you guys want some raw data on how it performs on the car http://www.mazdaspeedforums.org/forum/f498/me-so-rornery-build-104200/ read more

Cant beat the price. 05 Duramax LLY Turbo I received the turbo, shipping was a little slow but it eventually came. I paid $1700 to have it installed. After it was installed it still threw the same codes. I needed to take it to a shop that had a tech II reader. I brought it to a shop with the Tech II and they said the vanes would only work 20% and that the turbo was bad. I called Pure Turbo and explained the problem and emailed the diagnosis from the shop. The gentleman I spoke to said he would send me a new one when I was ready. I scheduled an appointment to replace the turbo again. I called pure turbos and now the woman said I have to send the defective turbo back so they can check it out. I explained that I was told earlier that week they would send me a new turbo when I was ready and just needed to send the bad one back after it was removed and the new one was installed. That was taken care of and it was shipped and delivered very quickly. The second turbo came and I paid another $900 to have that one installed. The second worked as it should and has for over a year. They were great with the return once they agreed to send a new one before the old one was sent back. My only issue is that i paid for the turbo to be replaced twice because the original one they sent me was defective. They did me right by rushing the second one but they never cared about me having to pay labor twice. read more

DO NOT do business with this place!!! I have a truck that I need to get running ASAP. They show online that they had my turbo as "new genuine OEM." I called on Tuesday to get it ordered, was told that they do not have a new one, "we need to get that changed online" but they did have a rebuild one ready to ship. I confirmed that and said I absolutely need to have this turbo here by Saturday. I offered to pay for overnight/expedited shipping to make that happen. Was told this would not be necessary, it will ship out right away..."today." Perfect, paid for the order. I was very, very busy last week, I did not call back to confirm it shipped because the gentleman I spoke to gave me great confidence that it was good to go. Did not receive turbo as expected. Called on Monday was told that turbo had "not been rebuild yet" because they could not get the cartridge to balance. Was told the technician would stay late tonight to get it rebuild, and absolutely it would ship on Tuesday. They offered to pay for 2nd day, but refused to pay for next day. I need this thing ASAP, so I said I will pay for next day, they said they would "split" the cost of next day with me. I called today (Tuesday) and the turbo has not been rebuild yet...I canceled the order and went with someone else. Horrible experience. Please do not tell me something is good to go and ready to ship out if it is not and then call me if there is any type of delay with my order. read more
