A friend told me about the Groupon deal (which was about $70/month for unlimited classes), so I decided to try it out. Dustin, Jake, Jeremy, Rae, and many other instructors have helped me so much in learning all the right technique and encouraging me to never give up. All the members are so friendly and motivating. Many of the members would come up to me and introduce themselves even after a sweaty and tough workout. Everyone is so encouraging, which makes me give my 100% every WOD. CrossFit is definitely a good workout when you want to get sweaty in less than an hour. It incorporates both strength training and cardio, which is perfect for me. And they have some good pump-up music which is a plus :) I love the environment here, and I will miss everyone who has been part of my CrossFit journey.

Set those fears aside and stop by CFFW; it will be the best decision of your life! The new gym has a great size but isn't so large that it's impersonal. The wide variety of structures class times makes finding a routine for everyone a possibility. If you have any desire to learn about Crossfit or are an experienced Crossfitter looking for a new box, do not hesitate to check out CFFW. Do not wait for circumstances to be perfect. I use Jeff's virtual Team Training, Serena's Superhero You and nutritional coaching. I'm forty weeks in to recording of nutrition and I don't ever want to stop habits, nor my relationship with Grit. The virtual training is more than just watching a workout. You can workout live with the coaches... and Jeff is ridiculously good and concise with remembering/recommending substitute movements for your limitations or injuries, and very resourceful with helping you utilize the objects you already have in your home. I have many many many public Facebook posts about this place if you're still on the fence about investing in yourself. Oh - and the generous outpouring of support and communication through several channels (fb,insta,email etc) is 24/7. They have really really found a way to personalize your health, while still keeping you part of the group.

I've never done personal training before but after having surgery on my neck a year ago and…read morefinishing up physical therapy, I wanted to get back in shape, but I am hypermobile and need highly personalized care due to postural issues and compensations. I first asked if they ever worked with any hypermobile clients because so many trainers don't even know what that is, and when I sent a message to Beometry, Isaac set up a time for a call to discuss my needs and spent a whole hour talking to me on the phone about my goals, past injuries, hypermobility, past athletic experiences etc! Most places would just want to get you in the door as soon as possible and take your money, but I felt like Isaac truly understood my issues and actually cared! He put together a plan for me and I have worked with Miriam in a small group personal training session. Miriam is unbelievably talented and came up with all kinds of workarounds due to some of the issues I have with my joints. When I first came in, I still had a lot of pain and stiffness in my neck, back and ribs, and we have worked on improving my mobility, especially in my ribs, and breathing. After going to Beometry for a few months, I just went on my first backpacking trip in 20 years, which is something I never thought I'd be able to do again, and I'm actually feeling so well that I am planning on hiking the PCT next year (all 2,650 miles of it). I can't thank Beometry enough and would recommend them to anyone in the area who is looking for a trainer whether it's for weight loss, general fitness, or gaining mobility back to live pain free!!

They certainly aren't used to drop ins at the 5:30am class so I felt like I surprised her a little when I showed up. There isn't a lot of info on their website about drop ins, so I just reached out via email ahead of time to let them know I was coming. They have the coolest t-shirts from american apparel too! I feel like I would drop in again just to get another shirt! The programming was awesome and I got a great workout in! They have fantastic equipment and it's all in wonderful condition. You can tell they take pride in their gym. There is plenty of parking in their lot too, which is always a concern in the urban areas. If you're in the Tacoma area I definitely suggest dropping in at Tacoma Strength!

Just in the midst, I have been debating over where to re-join at a gym to start working out [hopefully commit....] it was only a $5 fee for UWT students to attend an orientation and to go in twice a week for I think it was a month or so. I went to the orientation, no one but myself showed up.. kind of embarrassing. When I first stepped in, I felt like Plankton from Spongebob... I was scrawny compared to these extreme work-out people... even the ladies were muscled-up. Since I was by myself, it was more one on one orientation which gave me more space to ask questions and such. I think the person's name was Morgan? Maybe.. I don't remember~ he took me around and showed me the different exercises Crossfit involves. I was really excited to try this out. After the orientation it was a couple weeks after that I attended my first actual session. WOW... I am exercise-impaired, literally... I cannot properly work out for some odd reason despite being "out of shape". It was super embarrassing that I was so slow and had to use a pipe compared to others who had pretty heavy weights attached to their bars. I don't know if Crossfit is exactly what I am looking for when it comes to working-out but definitely I am proud of myself for giving it a go. But just a bit too intense for my level. The trainers and people at the session were super friendly and understanding about my lack of skills and was patient with me as I struggled embarrassingly... back and forth across the gym... with the weight sled thing dragging behind me (:

What I ended up finding was somewhat of a second home. The culture Tim sets in YME is unlike anything you will find at any other public or private gym. When you walk in, the energy is up and ready for you. Tim retaught me countless weightlifting and training fundamentals. He takes great caution and care in noting past or present injuries, turning training sessions into recovery sessions if necessary. Most of all, Tim's desire is to help others walk into the image of God that they have been designed to be. He is not afraid to hold clients accountable in order for them to not cheat themselves and achieve their goals. I'm beyond grateful for all that Tim taught me about wellness, fitness, and life. I would highly recommend him if you are looking for a change!

Yah Made Everything is the cleanest gym I have EVER been in! I have been going to gyms for years…read moreand I have NEVER been to one where the bathrooms were not only clean but immaculate. Also, Tim Jackson is the absolute best trainer I have ever seen! He corrected pre-existing problems with my right shoulder that limited the amount of weight that I could lift on the bench press. Note that I also previously wore a wrist brace on my left wrist, an elbow brace on both of my elbows and a knee brace on both of my knees before I started working with Tim. However, he corrected my form to the point where I don't have a need for ANY of this protective equipment any more, even though I have deadlifted 325 pounds and squatted 315 pounds at age 54 without any pain, discomfort nor injuries! Additionally, I am a vegan and Tim presented me with a meal plan that I could work with which enables me to obtain the macros I need to not only achieve but to surpass and thus Crush all of my fitness goals on multiple occasions. Note that in all my life, I have never had significant mass in my chest, however I do now in addition to significantly larger lats and a "christmas tree" in the center of my back. Lastly, as an added perk, I need mention that women have given me a lot of compliments after seeing my body (with my shirt on)

My friends Dave, Alicia, and Perla works here (Dave is the owner) and they're amazing! I've known…read morethem for years and they're very passionate about health and fitness and is very knowledgeable in this field. Compared to my other fit friends, these guys will challenge you on a daily basis. What's unique and awesome about this place is that Dave always has creative ideas and sometimes makes his own equipment/workout and make you suffer (in a good way lol). For instance, he'll stop for a moment and go "ooh that would be a good workout" or "I can create this" and would totally put a spin to your workout. He made a PVC pipe with water inside so not only can you use it to squat, but you also have to work out your core to balance because the water will make things more difficult! And the best part is, they HELP you with your forms. They'll watch you while you do your workout, then they stop and give you suggestions and shift your posture so you don't get hurt! Workouts range from: running, lifting, circuit training, tabata, yoga, crossfit, obstacle courses, kettle bells, Zumba, plyometric, Pilates, etc. Dave is Kettle bell certified, Alicia is the nutritionist, and Perla is the Zumba/Pilates!!! Together they form Captain Planet~ They will also try to sign up for obstacle mud course (I was the victim to Spartan super and almost died) but hey! That's motivation for you and once you complete the race, you just can't believe you've accomplished it :) Highly recommend this place! They're completely different from other trainers I know and are very knowledgable in health and fitness field. Also, Dave makes the BEST health bars that he created! Though last time he tricked me by giving me one with cricket flour... (Apparently they're good for you and is high in protein). You can also get the ones without cricket flour lol
