I am just a few weeks into my membership and I am super thrilled with my experience so far.
As a student, I was looking for a cheap gym, and for £23 a month (and no need for a contract - you can drop out of the membership anytime), I found more value than I have ever hoped here.
The gym is lovely and clean and spans across two floors full of equipment, and a third floor reserved for classes. Your membership entitles you to attending an unlimited amount of classes (bookable online up to 8 days in advance), and so far I am finding the choice plentiful (if you are looking for an early morning or right after work class, you might have to book a couple of days in advance, but otherwise I never had a problem getting in). I especially love the pump and free weights classes - a great way for a lady to be introduced into the world of free weights and proper form even if one can't afford a personal trainer. If you need some extra care, as a new member you can also book one complimentary training session. I think you really get a bang for your buck here.
As for the equipment in the gym, it's quite standard: there are a decent sized machines room and cardio equipment room on the first floor, a big free weights area (and a smaller one with lighter weights where one can work out calmly even as a beginner without getting intimidated by the very experienced heavy lifters, if that's what you need). The ground floor has further cardio machines such as steppers, treatmills etc, and a separate room with top of the range bikes and video equipment for interactive spinning classes.
The showers have so far always been nice and clean. And although there are not many members of staff present, the fact that you can get in here only with a personal code makes this gym feel very safe even later at night.
There are not always many members of staff available, but all equipment has a QR code which you can scan for instructions, and there are booklets with suggested workouts and reps depending on your goals. If you are new, you also have a complimentary induction session where you can ask all the questions you need. So if you are a beginner, like me, I promise that you won't feel lost.
There is no pool or sauna, but I find that for the price that I am paying, the gym offers great value without any additional fuss. I encourage you to give this place a go (you can either buy a day pass, or just ask for a free tour). read more
