Let me preface this review by saying there are things I do not like about gyms, any gyms, anywhere:
-People who are already in shape & attend to make others feel inferior
-Trainers who don't give a crap other than to stand around and pose
-Hard selling of overpriced memberships/contracts
-Classes that only occur when I'm at work
-The feeling that you are not welcome because you are the 'new' one in the room
-Spending an hour there and walking out without a drop of sweat materialised
I did not find any of these deal breakers at Pure Gym. It does what it says on the tin. It is purely a gym. You come here to workout - modern, working, effective equipment. The showers, lockers and equipment are all tip-top here. Vending machines on hand with healthy snacks too.
Classes, at multiple times during the week and the addition of specialised nutrition or health classes which run in cycles. The induction is thorough, without being a hard sell. They only care about what YOU care about - your goals. Personal training services are also available.
I decided to switch gyms as my previous one was going a bit downhill, this one is great (so far). It is opened 24hrs a day. Workout when I am available. Classes start from 6:15am so plenty of opportunities to get the session you want. No, sly staring from people there ahead of you either. Inclusion for everyone - everywhere in this gym. Trainers that are accessible throughout the centre, not posing with muslce shirts checking their mobiles.
Pure Gym does not have a contract membership. You can either pay monthly or pay for the days you want to attend. Variety, I like it! Because it is a 24hr gym, entry is via PIN system, that does work. They will chuck you out if you try passing your pin # to someone who is not a paid member.
So, why not a solid 5 star review? The seats on the spinning cycles are extremely hard. Yes, they will wreck your posterior. Bring extra padding if you are taking the spinning class! read more
