I went to a Mellow Moment drop-in class which was a yoga-Pilates practice. Our instructor was very good in pacing and offering accommodations as needed and opportunities for more challenge if available. It was a welcoming atmosphere- not heated- great for us who have "power surges" (hot flashes). After the one hour practice I felt energized and flexible. Drop-in rate was excellent($10) and you can register and reserve online. I felt blessed to have the opportunity to tune in to my body's needs in a place far from home.

Trust me, I know how cliché it is for people to claim they have found a chosen family at gyms. As an introvert myself, I get it. Go try out a class at MHC and you'll agree. The coaches truly meet you where you are in terms of your fitness, with the intention of making you a better and stronger human (regardless of your experience, age, or abilities). They've stuck by me through a job loss, multiple health concerns I encountered outside the gym, and many more life events. The members that go here are some of the nicest, most respectful, and supportive people you'll meet. If not for better fitness and health, stick around for the people. Each workout is challenging but doable because the coaching team is able to customize anything to meet your needs. I often look at the workout of the day and think, "DANG! I can't do that" ...but somehow they get me there. It may involve adjusting the volume, the movement or just giving me the support I need to push though the workout. The school board needs to entertain the idea to let a professional organization/gym fully run this to it's potential. Look at Anastasia Fitness in St Augustine. They have a smaller location and they are thriving with memberships.
