I have been practicing yoga at this studio for over seven years. Because of yoga, I have recovered from multiple injuries, medical conditions and physical limitations. Shelly, the studio owner/manager, and all the instructors, are supportive and knowledgeable. I became a certified yoga instructor last year by taking the 200-hr Yoga Teachers Training (YTT) offered by the studio, and am now taking the more advanced 300-hr YTT to broaden and deepen my understanding. This is the place where support and encouragement go to die -- the opposite of what genuine yoga practice should be about. The owner is a mean, egomaniac who wins over clients by spouting her pseudo-spiritual BS when in reality she is one of the most cold people I've ever met. I went here a few times and enjoyed the classes with other instructors. One of my good friends had never tried yoga and so I encouraged her to join me one weekend. I assured her (as anyone would) that it was OKAY if she couldn't keep up - she wouldn't be judged, she could go into child's pose if a pose was too much for her, etc. She was about moderately overweight, and also mentally in a pretty bad place while going through a tough separation. We went to the class and I kid you not, my friend left IN TEARS after being called out shamelessly in front of a group of her peers. To make a long story short, she let out a few SIGHS between poses, struggling to keep up, and Shelley proceeded to scold her. The first time she did this (loudly shushing her in front of the group) I shrugged it off. About then minutes later, my friend again sighed and she proceeded to call out "you in the back. You can leave now" This took place a long time ago, but it still to this day haunts me. I meant to post a review when it happened and I never got around to making an account. I am not a person who would normally feel compelled to write a review, especially a negative one- but this incident stuck with me and I feel it's only right to share this experience in hopes that you might choose to take your practice elsewhere. I truly feel it was discriminatory to my friend and certainly traumatic. She really suffers from low self esteem, and this experience really set her back. I still can't get her to trust me to go to another class at another studio. I have told this to a few friends who shared similarly unprofessional stories about the owner specifically, each who took their business elsewhere. I moved away for a few years and am now back in the area, and I will be sure to continue to share this experience with my peers and colleagues. read more

I was drawn to this studio in 2016, and I've been going ever since. As my practice became more regular, I found myself wanting to learn more about yoga. I began to attend workshops, which break down the technicalities of the practice. I have been able to grow and take my yoga practice to the next level thanks to being a student at H.H. Yoga. In 2018, I completed the 200-hr YA Teacher's Training. It changed my life for the better. The benefits of this teacher's training have had a positive impact on all parts of my life. I learned to accept myself for where I'm at in this moment, both on and off my mat. I have grown to love self-exploration, and I decided to continue this through the advanced 300-hr YA Teacher's Training in 2019. I hesitate to write much negative unless a place truly deserves it, and HHY does not. It is a lovely place with the nicest of clientele. What I would like to mention is that there are 2 dogs that will be in the hot studio during classes. I thought it was odd to find animals in this sort of atmosphere, and while trying to find that 'inner peace', one dog actually barked and startled me. The one staff member that was there was slightly icy and inattentive when I was trying to check out, but again I stress the clientele was very warm and inviting. The 'locker room' although pretty, was small for multiple ladies, so I advise leaving yourself plenty of time to get cleaned up if headed straight out from the studio. Lastly, the class I attended was pretty advanced and instructor did not do the class with us. Thankfully my neighbors we're amazing! read more

This studio has such a unique and wonderful vibe. The students that practice here are so friendly and welcoming. There is such a wide range of classes. This is the perfect studio for anyone from beginner to advanced. The vinyasa flows are so fun and creative and the yin classes are super chill. You can always find a class that meets your mind or body's needs. Teachers at hot house have a deep understanding of alignment and will give assists and help make adjustments to help you get into a pose correctly, which is super important to avoid injury. I love this place and love what Shelly has done with the new studio. It is so nice to be able to practice with a view of the garden when the heat outside is just right. Namaste! read more

I'm so happy to call HHY my yoga studio! I have made so many friends and have become part of this yoga "community." It's a safe place for all! Since opening the new studio, so many new community events and such are happening and it's such a great thing to see! All the teachers are great and add something different to the hhy family or teachers! You won't find a bad one and everyone is willing to help if you ask in any way! There's such a variety of classes you can't go wrong. And to all the people saying they didn't like the dogs then you should be aware yes Henry the dog is Shelly's dog and we love him. I havent been to HHY since moving to Orlando, but given the chance I would practice here again. I always found the studio to be clean and kept, and the majority of the staff to be kind. I will agree that the owner Shelly has a very strong personality, but I think all of it comes from a place of love. I never felt like the she was being mean, just that she was concerned about her students. As for the dogs, I never once had a problem with them getting in the way, barking or bothering me. HHY is where I began my hot yoga journey, and I am forever grateful. read more

After trying most yoga houses in town, Hot House Yoga is by far the best! They have a great variety of classes for all levels. The class times fit any busy schedule. They offer workshops, nutrition counseling, tarot card reading, meditation, book clubs, clinics, and SO much more. Their 21 day challenge will change your life! This studio is not for babies! If you are wanting to really challenge yourself and have the best instruction ever, this is the place. The hot yoga is intense and you will sweat buckets. You will also become much better at yoga and be entertained by the funny and very genuine instructors. Everyone is enthusiastic and you can tell they really are passionate about yoga practice. I am a dog lover so having the fur buddies around is a nice addition. (there are 3 doggies that roam around. I just would hope that they would get baths regularly so they don't stink up the place. The minute I came into this studio I felt a Warm and inviting atmosphere. Just go! Try a class. A workshop. This place has something for everyone. From the gentlest of yoga to the most advanced classes you'll find anywhere! This is my "zen spot" very welcoming studio. All of the teachers understand anatomy and yoga sequences. Jordyn especially understands how to connect with each and every student.. Her sessions can soften the most tense muscles and relax your mind with her poetic delivery of instruction. I took a Hot Yoga for Beginners class with Teresa and it was fantastic. Anyone familiar with Bikram would have no problem following this class. The studio was clean and had a small changing areas for men and women. I would definitely come back for future classes. read more

There are too many wonderful yoga studios in the area to drain your energy here. You may have a good experience if Shelly (owner) is in a good mood but watch out if she isn't! She can be very mean to clients and staff. I've been to several yoga houses in Ormond and this one was the WORST. The instructor is actually rude. I was shocked. The room is carpeted and disgusting and they packed way too many people into the room, including dogs that roam in-between everyone. This is not a positive atmosphere, and I felt the opposite of refreshed and relaxed after leaving. Save yourself the awful experience and try Blue Moon Yoga. read more

I love everything about Hot House Yoga. The team they have there is inspiring, and very involved. I honestly feel like family there now. I have tried a lot of yoga studios, and by far my home is with Hot House. Definitely worth it to go if you live in the area or are just in town for the weekend. I have been going to Hot House Yoga off and on for about two years, to attempt the 21 day challenge. As a person that was hit hard by the slump in the economy, I have been a slave to the Groupons and local deals that are offered in the area. I found that the $21 dollars for 21 classes (provided you do not miss anymore than one class which has to be made up by taking two classes in one day). to be an awesome deal. What I found even more impressive was the care and attention given by the staff! I truly felt that as my practice grew over the weeks, the instructors helped to adjust me into proper form, and consistently taught proper breathing techniques. The constant reinforcement really taught me the correct way of getting into poses that I have been doing incorrectly for many years. I also appreciated how interactive the classes were. Overall not what I was expecting for "hot" yoga. To start on a positive note, Jami was a great teacher. Shelly was okay but she didn't demonstrate how to do any moves during the practice. I am familiar with most poses, just not the all the names. Most of the students in my class were traveling through and stopped here. It was clear that most people had no idea what to do because of the little guidance given. But the worst part about this place was the fact that they let the employees dogs roam around freely. At first I thought they just walked around the studio and didn't realize until we began class that the dogs literally walked around in the room during class. I was so shocked.. I didn't know how to respond. I was also very disappointed because when I first walked into the studio I mentioned that I was allergic to dogs and at no point did the owner tell me that dogs would be in the yoga room during practice. She did point out to me after I purchased a package which side of the room the dogs slept on.. I thought that was very strange but didn't realize the full extent of what was going on. So then in the yoga room, which was not "hot" maybe 85 degrees, there was thin carpet. This didn't seem hygienic but maybe that's how studios are in Florida. Another thing that really annoyed me was what I saw before class began. A woman set her mat up and walked out for a minute. While she was gone a dog sat on her mat and scratched himself all over her mat. I couldn't believe it. And there was a yoga instructor in the room while this was happening! I just wish I would have been aware of this relaxed vibe and dog friendly yoga studio before I bought a package. read more

I usually don't leave reviews but I always read them, so I thought this would be a good time to share about my experience at Hot House Yoga. A friend of mine started taking classes there so I purchased a Groupon (awesome deal). I had not had much experience with yoga, was looking for a challenge and a change in my workout routine. In January I jumped right into the Vinyasa Flow class. It was just the challenge that I was looking for but I didn't realize how much I would enjoy it. I didn't dread going to yoga like I had dreaded hitting the gym...I was excited about it. I increased my attendance to 2 days a week and try not to miss Jami Monahan's class (she's the best!). The classes are all levels, never the same, very challenging, and have provided me the opportunity to grow and be inspired in a judge free environment. Also, my body has not been this strong in years and frankly, I'm pretty impressed with what it has been able to do! Jami mentioned in class once that yoga had changed her life. That didn't really resonate with me until months into going when I realized that it had in fact changed my life too. The way I moved, my focus, my strength, my awareness, my abilities, the list goes on. I would definitely recommend this studio for a beginner like me, and to more experienced levels that I have witnessed kicking "sit bones" in the classes!
