32 days from signing the contract to net metering! When I signed with them, they had me scheduled for the end of October, but near the end of August they called and asked to move the installation up almost two months. Apparently they were waiting on parts for a larger installation. This was a ground installation, so it involved some trenching. The property has extensive irrigation systems and they did the trenching without any damage to pipes or wiring. Pure Energy's cash bid was approximately half that of the next company's. They seem to get along well with county and PGE, as both organizations were very prompt in processing permits, inspections and getting the net metering installed. I was referred by a brother and his VERY PICKY son who investigates everything they do for quality and price. I talked to 5 solar companies. They were not the cheapest but were reasonable. Based on the extended family's good experience we selected Pure Energy Group They are ethical and responsible performing what they promise. They screwed up and they fixed it (and lost their shirt on this job). Some of the guys: Jake that supervises some installs and completed the undone stuff and Ben were great to work with. Communication and planning is not so great. They PROMISED ... IN THE CONTRACT to complete by the end of 2024 so we could get the solar credit - otherwise we would wait till summer/fall to commit. They eventually came through with the promised product - the last week of March. They did not come out to measure/design the spacing and based the quote and permit on my guesstimate of the number of panels that would fit on the "shed" roof (only roof that gets lots of south sun).. Permit: The design used my guesstimate number of panels and a design that would not fit in the space ("shed" south side is 32" x 13' with a 4/12 pitch and skylight in the center -- not rocket science computation). it specified installation on a composite roof and I have a standing metal roof. When they installed in mid-December they used a roof design that would fit the 17 panels (My guess using a different design) that left room for an additional panel. 1- contract specified any change would be communicated in writing - there was not even verbal communication. 2-why if I am trying to maximize the solar would I not want the additional panel?--they did not bring it up. 3- I walked the area for a ground based group that tightly fits a space -- the installer/electrician missed the communication and installed the ground unit over 2+ feet west which covers a backup generator, it also covers 1/2 of the ramp/walkway (the ground unit is between the house and "shed" that is 2" lower. Patio is level with the house but most of the area is 2-2 1/2 feet lower.) Instead of installing it 4-5 feet off the ground (2-2 1/2 feet higher than the patio and planting bed) it was placed level with patio where it would get more debris blow and shade from plants. and a ramp from the house/patio and placed it level with the patio/garden bed where it would get plant shade and lots more dust/debris. The group was not level--there was an obvious10-12" horizontal drop with a building wall behind it. The concrete bases (about 2' across) for the posts were low-below ground level so would pool water. When I called and wrote in December about the issues they said they would fix it - apply for a corrected permit and correct the ground install. I did not hear from them for 3+ weeks. They added 2 new posts and repositioned the panel group at the proper location, height and level and put concrete caps on the bases to build them up. It took an additional month for them to do the last cap, finish replacing the protective mesh under the unit and replace the fence section opened for access. It took an additional month to resolve the solar wi-fi/wired communication issue. read more
