History
Established in 2001.
Pure Barre is the largest, most established barre concept in the nation, with more than 450 studios across the country. Pure Barre is a total body workout that utilizes the ballet barre to perform small, isometric movements, which burn fat, sculpt muscles and create long, lean physiques.
Pure Barre was founded by dancer, choreographer and fitness guru Carrie Rezabek Dorr. Carrie opened her first studio in Birmingham, MI in 2001. It has exploded in popularity, due to its extremely effective technique, friendly, high-energy atmosphere; and fun, motivating music.
In 55 minutes you will achieve a full-body workout concentrating on: hips, thighs, seat, abdominals and arms. The Pure Barre technique is low-impact, protecting your joints by avoiding any bouncing or jumping. Each strength section of the workout is followed by a stretching section in order to create long, lean muscles without bulk. The technique works to defy gravity by tapering everything in and lifting it up!
Meet the Business Owner: Kristen W.
Kristen was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, where she developed a love of music, dance, and fitness at an early age. She attended Bowling Green State University and earned a business degree in accounting and finance. After graduating, Kristen moved to Columbus, Ohio to begin a career in public accounting while her future husband was studying law at The Ohio State University. After taking time off to focus on their growing family, Kristen discovered Pure Barre. She was instantly hooked on the technique and quickly learned that a Pure Barre class is much more than a workout. It's a community, a sense of empowerment, and the only place she could leave her day at the door for 55 minutes of "me time". A few months later, Kristen joined the "100 class club" and began her teaching career. Throughout the past five years, Kristen has taken great pride watching clients change their bodies and minds. She is thrilled to plant her roots in the Sacramento region and share her passion with you!
