This place cured me of my back pain. I work in healthcare and I'm on my feet 10 hours a day. I was having terrible upper back pain that no amount of massage would alleviate. I started going about a year ago and now I'm hooked. If I don't go for a while, my back starts feeling it. I feel stronger and I'm pain-free! I also look more sculpted (people have noticed). I have no idea why I waited so many years to try Instaphysique! I have a lot of friends who go and was excited to try it so I signed up for the two week unlimited trial for $79. Liz was the instructor for my first class and she introduced herself at the beginning, gave me a few pointers, and mentioned she would help with adjustments throughout the class if that was ok with me. I have done reformer pilates in the past in San Francisco so I had an idea of what I was doing but I didn't remember what any of the moves were. The nice thing...it seems like all the classes have regulars or even other instructors so it's easy just to watch what other people are doing throughout the class. After two classes, I was offered to swap to a 4 class membership for 3 months for the price of 12 months and I decided to move forward with that. If you have a membership you get discounted add on classes as well, but for now the 4 classes a month with maybe 1 add on seems like it will work for me! I've found that the classes at ideal times fill up fairly fast so you need to plan a week in advance! I did get on a waitlist for a class one week and got off the waitlist after just a few hours which was nice. I've now taken classes from Liz, Grace, and Morgan who were all great. At this point I've taken a few classes from Liz and she remembers my name, always checks in, and comes and checks in on form throughout the class. The workout is amazing - it's only 40 minutes but your whole body is burning throughout, it's such a great full body workout! Super excited to continue going! read more

Not only was it a great workout throughout my pregnancies (low impact and a lot of options for modifications) but since really committing to myself now that my kids are a little older, I have never felt stronger! Work it, lady! They work it. No doubt about that. However, for many reasons I could only give them three starts. I'd prefer to do 3.5 stars, but Yelp does not make that possible. For a first timer it only costs $12. Holler. I even called and left a voicemail to see if they had a try free for the first time or any special for bringing two friends with me. But I never received a call back. Not worth their time, I guess. Then you get an email that you MUST have socks with grip and there are no exceptions to this rule. Okay, ladies -- then I'll be sporting my Sky High grip socks I was required to purchase. Win for me. As you could imagine. They have a rotating rack of these to buy when you arrive. Priced from $12+. Varying types too, some missing toes (yes, the likes of homeless style) and different prints and colors. I just cannot fathom spending money on socks that I will probably only use one. I get it, its a huge liability if you slip and fall -- it would hurt! The last studio I went to with a reformer did NOT require this. The Mega Reformers are cool and I got a great workout in. I have nothing against the coach or the workout, but I think the disposable income I have to spend on working out could be put to better use. The regular costs of this is pretty expensive. They have discounts for package bundles and also they offer a Yelp discount too. You sign up on-line for each class, or reserve might be a better description. I don't think there is an option for walk-ins, but I could be wrong. Which also brings me to my next issue. When you arrive, it is a little weird to walk straight in if your class starts in a few minutes. Since it is one large room, you essentially walk into a class and sit in the corner (or go to the bathroom) while they are in class. I didn't know the etiquette, so I waited at the door. Then a lady just sauntered in and so I followed suit. Again the workout is great. Its all about that slow burn. So, like yoga, you really slow the movement down and focus on the burn. The mega reformer has MANY parts, but it's pretty easy to maneuver. Or you can just be a creep a watch your neighbor ;) There are numbers on the carriage (the main part of the machine) which help you navigate the machine. The strength of the springs are color coded for easy adjustment. There are different color cables to use for movements too. And the coach was awesome at being very detailed. If you were struggling, she came over and helped you out. Every movement is timed, the coach continually has a stop watch in her hand. What you do on one side, you do on the other. So everything is super even. What I did notice about my class and the prior one, is the end seems really rushed. Like the time wasn't done exactly to a T and then the end feels like she rushes you out of there. There wasn't a class after ours, but it still felt rushed. No cool down, just do the last exercise and clean your machine. The teacher leaves a wet wipe on your machine and then you clean it when you are done. Like I said, I don't have anything against this place. My personal preference just would be to spend my workout funds on something else. Without crossing a line, I think this places needs a little more diversity. I'll leave it at that. You can take what you want from that statement, but I felt like I should add that in. Maybe it was just my class or the handful that I've seen while eating sorbet next door, but its like the same clientele and I'm not really under that umbrella. Anywho, you sweat and you get sore. Just a quick update for this fabulous establishment: It was my first time actually participating in one of their challenges "27 Classes in 50 Days" and TBH...I was quite skeptical. I didn't think that a challenge would affect my willpower to get up and workout in the morning, but boy was I wrong! There was something fun and oddly satisfying about getting a stamp on a bingo card with the possibility of getting a free month's worth of class/ Instaphysique swag that lured me! Or maybe it was the sheer "misery loves company" of seeing my fellow instaphysiquers hauling ass during class that got me really enthused to participate. Whatever it was, I'm glad that I participated and it was really nice to get a workout in before starting my work day. I basically am useless after work and dinner. They also have a bunch of new instructors since the last time I posted a review. FYI Daniel will kick your ass! Take his class! read more

I paid for this class with my gf who has done multiple classes at another location in Walnut Creek. We drove from downtown Sac and was only 1-3 minutes late due to unexpected traffic from an accident on the road. We came in and got on the machines while the class was just starting. The instructor then came and rudely refused to let us participate in the class even though we have had experience with the machine. She sternly said it was due to liability reason and we needed to get out now (?). We understand the concern but considering the minimal late arrival time, it comes to show the subpar services and lack of reasonable accommodation to paying customers. We have gone to multiple classes at a different location and the attitude/service there was way more accommodative and reasonable (instructor taking care of late arrivals and quickly assured ppl know how to use the machine). We will never come back again and will ensure that anyone we know won't waste their time and money at this place. read more

InstaPhysique in Sacramento is a straight up amazing workout. For those who haven't been to their beautiful studio on Fair Oaks Blvd in Arden-Arcade, you have to try it out. First off, I have to say the instructors are super nice, but they are also superheroes in my mind. The class is no joke. It's hard, your body shakes, and while anyone can take the class, it takes a very strong and flexible person to lead a class. The workout you do at InstaPhysique is the Lagree Fitness workout. It was patented by Sebastien Lagree, who came up with not only the exercise, but also the machine you use- the Megaformer. For first timers, make sure you get there a little early. I'd recommend 15 minutes before class starts so you don't feel rushed. You'll also need time to pick out some grip socks. These are required for class. They are only $15 and you only need one pair. Added bonus, if you do something like Daily Method or a Barre class, you can use these socks at those studios as well. After you've got your cute booties, one of the great instructors will show you around the Megaformer. No need to get intimidated. Unlike other workouts, there is absolutely no expectation that you will be a pro right out of the gate. This class is a serious workout. If you are really giving it your all, you should struggle through the first few classes. I think I did about 4 or 5 before I started to feel a little confidence in some of the moves. Classes are small and intimate. But again don't worry about looking bad in front of the 15 or so other people in class. Everyone is working hard in this. I can't image anyone breezing through an InstaPhysique class. And class is hard, but the time flies by. The entire class is only 40 minutes. You will be amazed at how much you work in that short amount of time. Because it really is a full-body workout, unlike any other type of fitness class you will take. You work your legs, core, arms, back. Pretty much anything you want toned gets a good workout. Keys to success in a class? Go slow. Every single move should be done really slow. If you feel like you are inching along with each movement, then you are absolutely doing it right. And if you aren't feeling the burn in the muscle the instructor says you're working on, you're doing it wrong. I know, because I've been there. When I'm not feeling the burn and my muscle doesn't start to shake, I look at the instructor or someone who is clearly an InstaPhysique regular and check to see if my form is the same as theirs. Every time, I need to make an adjustment, and every time I totally start to feel the burn. But toning and creating long, lean muscle isn't the only benefit. This workout is great for people looking to increase their flexibility. Bottom line, it is an amazing and challenging workout that really produces results. read more

I will never give this place my business again and neither will my friend who watched this experience transpire. Horrible experience here on Sunday 1/30/19. My friend and I had signed up for the 9:40am class with Bethany. My friend arrived before me and was saving me a spot as I was running late because of the weather. Apparently, there was a person waiting because Bethany bumped me from the class and let this woman take my spot. My friend literally told her that I would be there any second. I was only TWO minutes late! Totally unacceptable and not how you treat customers. It would have been different if my friend hadn't explicitly told Bethany not once but TWICE that I was coming! When I walked in the door Bethany asked my name and then said "oh I gave your spot away" and she just walked away. I was shocked considering the reality of it being seriously two minutes past 940am and my friend told her I would be there. Unacceptable. read more

This is my favorite boutique fitness spot in Sacramento. I am obsessed with lagree and this studio is fantastic. The machines are kept nice and the decor is really appealing. I really like the shade of blue they have painted the walls. I moved away for the summer and tried another studio in the Bay Area which I did not like as much. When I came back to Insta, two of my favorite instructors left (Daniel and Elizabeth). However, recently I have been taking Rachel's classes and she is amazing.
