Humani Pilates is hands down the BEST Pilates studio I've ever been to. From the moment you walk in, you feel welcomed, supported, and part of a true community. Maria (the owner), has built something so special here, and you can see how much heart and intention she pours into every detail. From the instructors she hires to the way each class is structured. Her passion truly shows! Every instructor is phenomenal, but I have to give a special shoutout to Molly, she's my absolute favorite! Her classes are thoughtful, challenging, and always leave me feeling stronger and more connected to my body. The level of instruction is truly unmatched - they don't just lead you through movements, they guide you, explain how you should feel in each exercise, when to breathe, how to align, and they correct your form in the kindest and most encouraging way. Each class is different, and I always leave having learned something new. It truly breaks my heart to be moving away from Humani, because I know no other studio will compare. Humani has honestly set the bar so high. If they ever open a studio in Marin, I'll be first in line and a customer for life. No question!!! Until then, I'll be soaking in every last class over the next few weeks before I go and will absolutely be back every time I visit family. Thank you, Maria, Molly, Charlotte and the entire Humani team, for creating such a beautiful, intentional space. This place will forever have my heart. read more

I finally found a Pilates studio I love! The staff are all courteous and friendly. Every instructor I have had has been a strong teacher. Maria, the owner, has been very helpful and kind in answering any questions I have about the studio. I like how detailed they are and the flow of each class. Humani stays true to what Pilates really is. From my perspective, the focus is on mindful, intentional movement. I'm able to work on my flexibility, core, and strengthen my muscles every time I visit. The place itself is beautiful. They have street parking, however, I always find a spot for class. If you're interested in learning Pilates or continuing your practice, I highly recommend checking out Humani for their introductory classes to start (Machines 101 and Foundations). read more

I've been to Humani a few times and I do hesitate to post a review about them because their classes fill up so fast! But supporting local businesses is important and hopefully more people will persuade humani to open another studio or a bigger one! I've have different instructors and they have all been great. I primarily do the foundations classes so this review is mostly from a very couch potato newbie perspective. I highly highly recommend it if you want to try reformer pilates but are not sure if you're physically able to do the classes. I find the foundations classes 50% easy and 50% challenging once we delve into more endurance but it always gives a nice soreness the next day! The classes are quite small and they make an effort to accommodate for every body type and physical ability as long as you inform them ahead of time! read more

I've been doing reformer pilates at Humani Pilates for a year now and I'm so glad I went with them for my first time! They offer various types of classes that range from beginner to intermediate and advanced levels. Signing up can get competitive as classes fill up fast, but keep in mind that classes do open 2 weeks in advanced. Once you walk in, you're always greeted warmly by either Charlotte or one of the instructors. The ambience of this place is very clean and calming. During the class, the instructors give clear directions and the option to modify if you're unable to do certain movements, while also taking the time to assist you with correcting your form if needed. I really appreciate the emphasis each instructor gives on listening to your body and working through each movement with intention. I always leave a class feeling stronger and refreshed and would definitely recommend this place, you won't regret it! read more

I'd give this place 10 stars if I could. Not your cookie cutter studio! Maria has cultivated a warm and welcoming atmosphere in addition to providing top instruction from her crew of teachers. A true joy to behold! read more

Yesterday I attended my very first Pilates class at Humani--specifically the Machines 101 class, which is perfect for beginners who have never tried Pilates before. I had been researching Pilates for a while and felt like it would be a great fit for me, but I was still a little hesitant and honestly, a bit intimidated. I'm so glad I pushed through. Charlotte greeted me at the door with a warm welcome and patiently answered all of my questions. Maria, the instructor (and owner), was absolutely amazing. She made me feel comfortable right away, explained everything clearly, and offered gentle corrections when needed... which I really appreciated. The atmosphere at Humani is not only beautiful and calming, but the people truly made the experience even better. I felt supported, encouraged, and seen. I'm definitely coming back! read more

Trying anything new on your own can be scary. I'm new to the area and decided to be brave and try Pilates with the Humani studio on my own and I've been stuck since! The studio is stunning. Very clean and they even provide you with hair ties and deodorants in the bathroom. The instructors are very attentive. They take the time to learn your name and really take time to make sure you're doing the moves correctly. Everyone at the studio is very friendly and welcoming. Parking is street parking but it never has been an issue for me. I get a great workout every time. I'm usually a weight training girl that only goes to the gym but now I've incorporated pilates 2-3x a week and I've been better results. Highly recommended (: read more

Beautiful, calming space. Maria is so knowledgeable. There's free street parking on Markham way, a small residential street next to the studio. No time limits. I suffer from chronic pain, but with what I'm learning here, I'm hopeful to keep it managed. Pilates benefits EVERYONE! read more

Me and my sisters came here to try out Pilates, having never done it before. It was great! I had such a good time. Our instructor was so kind and so supportive. I would come here again if it wasn't so far from home. read more

Aesthetically pleasing. Smells amazing inside. Provides a sense of grounding but energetic enough for encouragement. I took the beginner introduction class ( they can accommodate any level don't be shy) and got an amazing sweat! But not so bad that you couldn't do it again that week, absolutely perfect. Maria was my instructor and her direction was so helpful, knowledgeable and patient. I encourage men to show up, it's not just a girls club. ABSOLUTELY a staple in my workout routine. THANK YOU!! read more

A beautiful space with skilled teachers and a calm vibe. Booking can get a little competitive but once you get into a rhythm of signing up for classes a few weeks in advance it is easy-peasy. Teachers have different styles and I've found ones I prefer and settled into a routine that works for me. One of my favorite things is that it doesn't have a corporate vibe, but instead feels deeply human with the staff aiming to create a positive and healthy experience. If you dislike a particular teacher it's easy enough to find a class you prefer. read more

Humani Pilates is the best. Not only is the studio absolutely stunning, but each class is a different experience so you'll never get bored. They offer a variety of group and private class types. Class sizes are small, and instructors are all very attentive and quick to customize movements to the needs of students (e.g. for pregnancy or injury). Highly recommend! read more

I have been attending Humani's Pilates classes two times a week for well over four years. Throughout this time Humani has become my refuge for my mind, body and soul. Here you will find very experienced and caring instructors. More recently I began taking private lessons with My-Hanh. She has provided me with valuable insight on proper technique, alignment, breathing; and always mindfully mixes up my practice with something new and challenging. I can't say enough good things about Humani. If you are looking for a clean, well-operated, professionally staffed Pilates studio, this is the place for you! read more

I've been attending classes at Humani for about three years now and they have never disappointed! They just moved to a new spot and it's beautiful, clean and I always feel welcomed. Highly recommended for all levels of Pilates classes! read more

I was so nervous to try Pilates. My anxiety made me cry at the thought of doing this "alone". Maria took the time with me to get me comfortable with how the studio works and connected me with a great private lesson instructor. My first lesson was with Heather. She walked me through everything multiple times, was very patient and never pushed me more than I was comfortable with.. mentally or physically. If you are new or experienced, this studio has the personal touch YOU NEED! Try it! Trust me. You will love it. read more

I cannot say enough good things about Humani. I first walked into the studio a little over a year ago and was matched with Carolyn for 1:1 sessions. Carolyn is an angel sent from heaven! Having never done Pilates in my life, she worked to create workouts tailored to my needs and body. Within a month, I felt more confident and sure of my body ... and that feeling kept getting stronger. By the summer, I felt confident enough to start attending classes and it's true what everyone says, my classes are full of men and women at different stages of life, with all sorts of body types and fitness levels, but it doesn't matter. Everyone is so supportive and encouraging. Cassie is my go-to instructor, but I also love Molly and Whitney. The classes are never boring and the studio is warm, relaxing, and gorgeous. Thank you so much Maria and team! read more

I love Humani! Every class is different and well-rounded, giving a full body workout that's also fun and never boring. The studio is beautiful and spacious. The instructors are knowledgeable and creative. It has become one of my "happy places." :) read more

This lovely studio has a wonderful vibe and exceptional instructors. It's a 100% no-intimidation zone and welcoming to all ages and fitness levels. Carolyn is my instructor and although I've done Pilates elsewhere for years, she's helped get me in great condition. Carolyn tailors her teaching to the individual student's needs and abilities. For older students like me, improving strength, agility, and balance means a lot more than a cute shape. I want to give a shout out to Charlotte in the front. She greets everyone and seems to know us all. Her customer service is over and above. No matter the question, she gets back to you with the answer. read more

Wow! I just had the best workout of my life! (Yes, it's possible!) I just took a 50 minute class with Maria, the owner of Humani Pilates and it was amazing! Just moved back into town and this studio is just 1.5 blocks away from my house. I never do ab work and rarely stretch. This class worked my abs, arms, legs and left me feeling relaxed. The class of 6 used the reformer machines and lots of other equipment to do a choreographed Pilates workout. It was my first class and Maria was so knowledgable and helpful. She comes around making sure you are not lost and to make sure you don't hurt yourself. The class was so easy to follow because Maria gave very detailed instructions and demonstrated the moves when it was a sequence. I will definitely be back and highly recommend this Pilates studio. It really is worth it. You get to use amazing equipment and the small classes feel like you're getting one on one attention. Tip: If you've never tried Pilates, they have a free machine introduction class once or twice a month. Checkout their website for class schedules. Thank you Humani Pilates! read more

The instructors are all very supportive and I love that the classes change. Each one is different.

I had private lessons with Maria before I started the group classes. I will be turning 70 this year and wanted to make sure my form was correct and not have any injuries in the group classes. Maria knows her business! I have taken two group classes and both teachers were knowledgeable and patient. The studio is immaculate and the location is convenient with ample street parking as well as some visitors' spaces next to the building. As one of the previous reviewers mentioned, pilates is my new obsession and I enjoy it more than yoga. read more

Absolutely the BEST Pilates and Wellness studio I've ever been to. I went in hoping they could help me with chronic lower back issues I've had for years and not only i have been pain free for 2 years now they also helped me improve my tennis game so much by strengthening my entire body and improving my balance. The studio feels so comfortable and clean, the staff is extremely friendly and professional and they also offer Facial Stretch Therapy massages that are so addictive. I got their intro package to start, it was super affordable and allowed me to try all their classes including massage and private sessions. I have been to a lot of fitness studios, gyms, physical therapy and massage parlors but this is definitely the best of all in one place. Thank you Humani, you Rock!! read more

I found this studio when I started working in midtown in January 2018. Love the calming effect it has when you walk through the door. I attend classes after work to decompress. Love Pilates reformer JOY level 1 class with Molly and Christmas. Also mat class with Jennifer is always challenging and refreshing. I love the way they incorporate essential oils and positive affirmations. You leave with a clearer mind and calm body. Also Stephanie the best for FST. She cured my hip pain and my sister is seeing her for her shoulder and is getting great results. read more

This studio is stunning! I see Cassie for one-on-one sessions and feel like I am in such good hands with her. She mixes up the equipment we use and the exercises we do so that no session ever feels the same. I hadn't done any form of formal exercise in years and she creates workouts that are perfectly challenging without being overly strenuous. She is a total professional! I highly recommend this studio and working with Cassie! read more

I LOVE this studio. I've been coming here for a few years and it's the one exercise I really enjoy. This place is super positive for me, both mentally and physically. Everyone is really nice and this place feels like a little community. You can't go wrong with any of the instructors. When I come to class regularly, my body feels strong and my mind more relaxed. I recently just came back for my first in-person class and I was WAY impressed with all of their COVID protocols. I've been hesitant to go back out into the world but this studio has really taken so many precautions. I left class feeling so happy and the next day I was so sore! read more

Humani is seriously the best studio in town and now in their new space there is a sense of calm and beauty that adds to the amazing work out you get. I have worked with Maria for 8 years , rehabed with her teachers through two pregnancies and credit them for avoiding a back surgery for chronic disc issues. I can't recommend them enough! And this studio is who I send my patients to. Trust them fully! read more

I had the pleasure of tying Humani Pilates on I Street. I signed up for a class thru the online app, Mind Body Connect, it really couldn't be any easier. I chose the"Aroma Joy" class on Wednesday evenings. It's a really great class where the instructor uses therapeutic grade essential oils in a cold air diffuser along with applying the scented oils to the inside of your wrists to enhance your Pilates practice allowing you to feel more centered and energized, while also feeling relaxed and in balance. The class is described as a mixed level class, and the instructor was really great and offered alignment adjustments and modifications if one should need them. The space itself was clean and modern with the new Allegro 2 Reformer and Combo Chair, both by Balanced Body. The classes are small, six students in all, which makes for easy interaction with the instructor. read more

I started at Humani about a year ago after driving past it at night following my studio cycle classes. In my late 50s now, I wanted to add more strengthening and active stretching to my fitness routine of walking and cardio. Also, having skeletal issues from medication, I felt the weight-bearing exercises would counteract bone density loss. From the first intro class I attended, I knew it was a good place to do a good thing for myself. The instructors are all kind, informed, attentive and supportive. They vary in their styles, which gives the students a greater range of information from which to grow into the practice; one may cue a move one way and I feel like I know what I'm doing, and then another cues the same move differently and I go "a-ha! I get it now." Happens all the time. My classmates are a wonderful variety of young and old, flexible and injured, athletic and unsure; yet everyone comes in and exhibits their strength together and leaves each class better than before. Humani is a beautiful, clean, warm and healthy place to be. I always feel a benefit by stepping in the door. I enjoy the positivity of the staff (love Charlotte's smile!} and the secure sense of caring and competence the whole place radiates. Maria has created a remarkable business that continues to grow in value to me through the values she holds. I encourage anyone interested in physical well-being, improvement, recovery from injury or just a change of pace to come in and see what Humani has for them. read more

I've done a lot of Pilates in my day and Humani is the most beautiful studio I've ever experienced! Humani provides an intimate yet affordable setting to experience the magic of Reformers/Pilates Equipment. Wonderful mix of classes, always super clean, fun & welcoming staff. I love this place-Beautiful studio, great equipment and even better instructors! I have been going here for about three months now. I started by taking advantage of the 3 privates for $180 (this was perfect for me because I had never done Pilates before and I didn't want to make an ass of myself in public). I then did the unlimited two weeks for $75. That was it for me. I became die hard Pilates fan. I thought I was going to go 2x a wk but I am there 5x because I love it so. Now I have the strongest core I have had in my life and I have taken inches off my body. read more

I have never left a review before but I think Humani is such an outstanding place that I felt I had to! Humani Pilates is absolutely the best studio I have been to in Sacramento. I was searching for a low key, mindful, and challenging atmosphere and it has met all of those expectations and more. I have only been attending for a few months but I have noticed that I am considerably stronger, more aware of my posture, and use the lateral breathing throughout my day. Every time I walk in, the various instructors always greet me by name and make me feel welcome without being suffocating like some places can make you feel. Lastly, every single time I attend a class I am challenged to try a new exercise or equipment which keeps me interested and growing in the practice. I have never been this excited to workout and am happy I found a haven in the madness of the world at Humani. read more

Very special place, whether you are trying Pilates for the first time or advanced. The staff really care about the clients. Heather and Molly are fabulous teachers. Nice assortment of classes. Amazing body work by Stephanie. Can't wait to return when I come back to the Sacramento area. Highly recommend! read more

After practicing at Humani for almost four years I thought it would be a good time to update my review. While the studio began as a great place to work out it's turned into a beautiful community. Maria has hired an amazing team of teachers who each bring something a little different to the table, on top of that there is always welcoming staff around to help guide you through anything you need. I continue to get a great work out, perfect my practice, and feel like I belong to a great community! read more

Have been coming here for about a month and have loved every class I've taken! The studio is so nice and relaxing and has such a great energy. And all the teachers are so nice and knowledgeable. Always feel so great after a class or massage and am really noticing a difference in my core strength and improved flexibility. read more

I have been going to Humani for the last year! It has changed my life! I went in hoping to finally deal with my lower back issues that have been bothering me for most of my life. Humani is my happy place. I have found that if I make sure I go to at least 2 classes a week (preferably everyday of the week), my body is happy and can take on both the physical and mental strains of my job, home, and social life. I have been stuck in some trendy work out classes in the past that have left me with no balance, only focusing on strengthening the front of my body (crunching the abs), and in turn have actually caused me to injure myself. All of the teachers at Humani have worked very carefully to help me find my form and alignment within Pilates movements so that I'm doing the exercises properly, in turn building strength where I need it the most. All of the teachers are so great and knowledgeable but for some reason, my body feels the best after a class with Beth. I don't know how she does it, but she gets me. And my hips and lower back really appreciate it! Also the owner Maria, duh, her classes are always amazing although they fill up fast! read more

Humani is a high class, pristine establishment that is by far the best Pilates studio I have ever attended. The atmosphere is clean and charming, with calming essential oil aromas and soft lighting. I have had the privilege of practicing mat, reformer I & II, and chair classes, and they do not disappoint! Every class I have taken has centered me in the perfect place to challenge and strengthen both my body and mind. Molly, Maria and the entire Humani family are highly skilled, welcoming, and truly care about their clients' growth. read more

I've been seeing Maria since November 2013 and I couldn't be happier with the results! Using the machines is like no other work out I've ever done before. I'm leaner and toned and I love how I am more conscious of my body and posture. Maria is the most wonderful coach and guide and will be rooting for you all the way! She loves to see her students learn and grow. I look forward to every class and especially love the hot tea before class starts in the mornings. This place has a warm energy to it and I've never been happier to work out! read more

This studio is the cream of the crop. I'm also a Pilates teacher (still finishing training) and this is a studio I eyed before I began my training and have been going to for about 6 months a couple times a week. I recommend it to anyone looking for a clean, friendly, well thought out studio. From booking to taking class, everything is very streamlined and simple. Each teacher has something different, but wonderful to offer. You can tell Maria, the owner, is very intentional about who works there. Definitely check them out, they do free intro class once a month and new student specials from time-to-time. read more
