    Studio is big
    Theresa G.

Went to my first class last Saturday. The studio is very aesthetically pleasing and girly. I took a pilates class and the mood and vibes were always calm and welcoming. The workout had me surprisingly sweating in no time. I took my own mat and water. They have plenty of cubbies for everyone to put your things away. Parking is a little tough dury busy hours. The next day my legs and abs were sore!! So mission accomplished. You can sign up through their website and also on Instagram as well as class pass. Latina owned business and a safe space for women but all are welcome. :)

I'm fairly new to this studio but I already love the vibes here. The staff is so friendly and very welcoming. I also love the aesthetics of the whole studio. So woman empowering and I love the neutral/earth tones for the decor even down to the yoga mats. I've only done pilates that I booked through ClassPass. Someone told me that this is a new addition to the studio but so far it's pretty good. The instructor, Tatiana is very nice and helpful in correcting your positioning. I love how involved the owner Atalia is whether it comes to checking in people or attending the Pilates class. I wanna try the strengthening class next. They make sure you work out a sweat for sure.

If you haven't been to BHB you must! There's a variety of classes including strength training, Pilates, yoga and community events to support local businesses! Love the community that Owner/Coach Atalia has created and excited to be part of it. The studio is beautifully decorated and clean. Come check it out!

I definitely recommend Beyond Her Body fitness studio to every woman! Latina owned. Such a safe place for women, no judgement zone, very beautiful and new studio. Atalia, the owner is the absolute sweetest and so knowledgeable in her craft. You got at your own pace in the classes and make many new friends as you become a regular. I went out my comfort zone in joining and I have major social anxiety, and I feel so loved and seen here. The space is welcoming and inviting and all new equipment and of course the beautiful lighted mirrors is the cherry on top with setting the vibe and mood. BHB hosts different events on weekends with different vendors and special guest speakers and trainers. Definitely a gem in the community.

"Join us at the 5am class!" they said.. I responded, "WHAT?! That's the middle of the night!!!" After some contemplation, and no other convenient time, I started coming about 2-4 times per week.... and I LOVE IT! I go to sleep a little bit earlier at night, but start my day off with more energy and better attitude. The coaches, Torsten and Josh, are awesome! Inclusive atmosphere, all different levels of fitness, no pressure to perform harder than you're comfortable with -- but enough pressure to push your boundaries and encourage progress. I lost 18 lbs. in the first 2 months!! From 189lbs.- 171lbs.!! Ultimately significantly lowering my cholesterol. I do t even know who I am anymore!

I joined ASAP when I was new to weightlifting and CrossFit. I had run numerous half marathons,…read more10Ks, and 5Ks, so I considered myself in pretty good physical/cardio shape. I knew that all the research said that runners should be not only be cross training, but also weightlifting to prevent injury and support their running goals. Still, weightlifting was a whole new ball park and I was so frightened of injuring myself and not being able to do the cardio that I loved. Contrary to my reservations, joining ASAP and my journey into CrossFit has been anything but frightening. The coaches listen to your fitness goals and history, know your reservations, and they easily offer modifications when/if needed. Every coach leads you through a thorough warm up, models the movements, watches you practice the motions with them, provides feedback, and then transitions the class into actually starting the WOD. As a runner, working out with ASAP has only made me stronger and faster. I have PR'ed my 5K, 10K, and half marathon times, even placing top 3 at a few local races. (Not to mention one of which I was pushing my 2 year old in the jogging stroller!) I completed my first trail marathon and CIM this last year. I have always felt competent as an athlete when it comes to cardio, but I've never felt so strong and capable. I am so thankful for such an encouraging community of athletes from all walks of life, various ages, and athletic goals/backgrounds. CrossFit is such a humbling endeavor, but it is extremely motivating, as well. I constantly am inspired by the athletes around me. I love that ASAP prioritizes the goal of healthy living (i.e., to stay healthy for your kid, to be an active grandparent, etc.), instead of being motivated simply by physical gains and appearance. I love that ASAP offers a program with the flexibility for mamas to continue to strengthen our bodies even through a pregnancy. I stuck with ASAP's CrossFit program throughout my entire pregnancy and the coaches supported me to listen to my body, while providing modifications for any movement. Now I am 16 weeks postpartum and I am back in it, stronger than I thought I'd be. My ability to get back into running so quickly postpartum is also a testament to ASAP's program. Like many mamas, I am dealing with diastisis recti and my PT has encouraged me to continue ASAP's CrossFit program, as most movements allow me to continue to strengthen my body without exacerbating the problem. I highly recommend ASAP if you want to see improvement in your health and overall wellbeing.

The trainers care about you as an individual and know that each person has their own journey and battles and never prescribe a "one size fits all" mentality to their training methods. You can modify when you need to. You can be pushed to your best and you are given the best pep talks through it all. I've successfully completed Spartan races and hopped over 6ft walls because of the trainers believing in me. I've ran half marathons because I've met so many amazing people here that keep pushing me to do more! This place has changed my life. The community inside is a family and I'm so thankful for this place existing and showing me that fitness is for everyone!

Some of the trainers and all of the front office staff are amazing and kind. Shout out to Taylor and Andres. I think the owners had good intentions in mind and poured a substantial amount of themselves into the camp. However, the amount of pain (months after leaving the camp) and frustration I have encountered far outweighs the good. I came into the camp with some mild pain in my back that came and went as well as knee pain. Certain things would aggravate it. One of the trainers at the camp is incredibly pushy and does not listen. One of my first trainings at this gym with this trainer, she was asking the group to do something that I knew would worsen the pain- when she saw I was not doing the exercise she pushed me to do it and when I tried to explain that I couldn't she said "can't is a word not allowed here...that will be 10 burpees" without allowing me to explain. Repeating that phrase several times when I just stood there, shocked, until she let it go and moved on. I have had multiple other negative experiences with her-at one point I came into the gym with a cardiac monitor I had to wear for two weeks and she seemed annoyed that I even showed up because I could not get the monitor wet( mild moisture and work outs were ok). After that first session I told her about my back pain, so she was aware. However, she kept pushing when I told her that I did not think I could do something. I avoided her classes but still ran into her at one of my final classes there. She pushed me to do deadlifts (a major trigger for me) with heavier weights even after I told her that was not a good idea. She would not take no for an answer. This caused the worst back pain I have even experienced with shooting pain down my leg. I am still recovering from it. The blame is not fully on her. I did the deadlifts, I am aware that I needed to advocate better for myself. However, this is not an acceptable way for a trainer to act. After every one of her classes I left feeling weak and ashamed. I know I am not the only one who has had complaints about this trainer. A different trainer prided himself on doing the workout with the class. Are you working out or teaching? How can you keep an eye on what everyone is doing when you are also working out? I am not talking a little hammer curl...I am talking full on burpees. This trainer seemed annoyed with me when I asked him to turn the music down or asked for modifications. He would not give me even a second of his time to voice my concerns. Overall, The Camp's model in my opinion is overly focused on lifting the most heavy weights possible in a loud and fast paced environment. When classes are smaller, it is possible for trainers to keep a close eye on form. However, financially, small classes are not feasible (this place is at the brink of shutting down) and it seems that in larger classes it is difficult to ensure safe form. I remember one of my final classes I looked up at the other people in my group and we had no idea what we were doing. There were not enough appropriate sized weights for everybody. It was loud and hectic, almost impossible to get the attention of the trainer because the music was so loud. About the loud music...there were members who wore ear plugs because it was so loud. My Apple Watch warned me of high decibels almost every training I attended. Did I bring up my concerns to the owners? Sure did. I was told nothing could be done about the music-even though it was difficult to hear what the trainer was saying even when they were right next to you. Regarding my concern with coaches not modifying work outs and being pushy? I was told to choose a different coach's classes to attend and attributed to "personality differences" (also challenging because I could only attend evenings of some days). This gym is not open all day. When I shared concerns regarding my pain and that I wanted to stop attending classes due to the advice of my physical therapist, I was told I probably have a herniated disk and should see my doctor as well as a chiropractor ( and to look into the "fascinating history of chiropractics" when I brought up the lack of evidence in most chiropractic practices), and the advice of my PT was dismissed. FYI, my doctor referred me to PT in the first place. Disheartening behavior coming from a healthcare professional. Coaches also push members to buy work out supplements advertising them as "weight burning" among other claims...this is not science based and is taking advantage of people who trust you. As healthcare professionals, how can you support such claims being made in your business? I realize that, sadly, this is normal for the fitness industry.

Never heard of Hotworx before until doing this class…read more Essentially the concept is, is that you get to attend recorded classes 24/7, but the classes are in saunas. You have to turn on the sauna for maybe 5-10 minutes so it can warm up to your desired temperature. They recommend the sauna be 120F for best results. There are different types of workouts, and from what I remember there was cycing, glutes, and iso--just to name a few. Each sauna room seems to accommodate up to 3 people. You can reserve a class ahead of time and complete your workout. The more workouts you complete and the more calories you burn, you earn points to redeem towards items. The iso workout was like 30-45 minutes long. It was actually very challenging. For a workout in which I usually would be able to complete outside of a sauna, inside of the sauna, it was WAY harder, and I came out of the workout DRENCHED in sweat. Outside of the rooms, there are cubbies where you can place your items in. They have cameras on the inside of the building so that can help with the safety of your items in the cubbies. They do offer little life alert lanyards that you can bring into your workout in case you're alone and worry about your safety--whether from the workout or your personal safety. I highly recommend bringing your water bottle and a towel (they do provide towels but there may be a charge). You WILL get easily dehydrated because you are sweating so much. However, the sweating made me feel very relaxed at the end of the workout. I would love to do their workouts again in the future. Some criticisms I saw when I read about the Hotworx workouts in figuring out if I should join or not, is that the workout videos don't change very often and that people wished the instructors provided alternate movements for movements that may be more difficult for people. Just some things I've noticed in figuring out if I should commit to classes. The staff were very friendly in explaining how the facility runs. Overall, I would recommend Hotworx based off my experiences!
