I love taking classes at Pure Barre! I regularly visit all three Upper East Side locations, and the instructors have been consistently excellent across the board. Out of the three Studios, this one is my least favorite only because of how small the locker area is making it difficult to get ready. It is made up for by the large studio space. Overall, Pure Barre is such a great place to work out, and all the Upper East Side studios are wonderful! read more

I just took a class from Eryn, and I can't rave about it enough! It was so fun, challenging--yet achievable! She was so encouraging and gave us modifications to meet our own levels. I highly recommend you try it. read more

Amazeeee I've gone to classes with Alex and Elizabeth (Empower) I have always enjoyed group classes because of the energy you get from being with others. I truly appreciate the realignment both Alex and Elizabeth provided during class as someone who had not done barre before. I am loving the techniques and the classes attended here. It is not a large space but the energy and support you get in the studio is great. I look forward to coming back. Also if you drive on the weekends, I found free parking pretty easy for a 10am class. read more

Really enjoyed the barre classes that I took here. I took a break when covid numbers were high again but plan on returning. The basic class is tough and the instructors are kind and motivating. (Kelty was very welcoming.) The only negative is the difficulty I had registering for classes on the app at different locations. I think that it was a technical glitch and recommend taking classes at your home studio to avoid any potential confusion. read more

I love this location. Super clean, bright studio and really tough but motivating instructors. Anna is the best but all of the instructors are top notch. The workout is challenging and the time flies. I always feel so much stronger and happier after a good Pure Barre workout. The class challenges all the muscles, lower body, arms, back, chest, core, and the fast pace of the class keeps you guessing. I love going for my Saturday Empower classes, a great way to start the weekend. read more

Finally back on the Barre! I used to attend Pure Barre classes regularly right after college for about two years. I loved how strong my muscles felt. But I went to grad school and barre classes were a bit of a luxury. So I concentrated on running as my primary and only exercise. 3 marathons later and 3 years later, I'm quite relieved that Pure Barre still makes me shake uncontrollably. The movements are small and isolated, but will make you burn and burn (which just means you have that much space to get stronger!) I'm so excited to strengthen my muscles and round out my fitness regime. The studio itself is very clean and Lisa was great. It can be intimidating for your first class, but Lisa makes sure to check everyone's form in each variation. I also appreciated the lockers for storing your things, which was something that lacked at my old Barre studio in San Diego. read more

I have taken a good amount of classes at this studio and I must say that I absolutely love it! I have to point out specifically how absolutely incredible Ella Sharpe is as both an instructor and a person. She is so attentive and genuine. She creates such a friendly and comforting yet powerful atmosphere. I always recommend her class, confidently and passionately. Overall, I am a big fan of the different types of classes. Although, it really makes a difference who your instructor is. I have gotten a careless, "can this end already?" vibe from some instructors. It's disappointing because it can ruin the image of PB for newcomers. read more

I adore this studio. Great teachers, energetic classes and always a welcome by name fr minute I walk in door!

Not sure why there's so many positive ratings when this didn't feel like a workout at all. The instructor didn't make the effort to help or correct anyone and was just saying the workouts outloud. She also seemed very bored and uninterested. Didn't feel sore or break a sweat at all, very disappointing experience and I wish I could get my money back for such a horrible workout read more

Pure barre as a whole is a great full body workout that only gets tougher as you and your form improve. The instructors at this location all have great pointers and adjustments during class and really do their best to make sure you're getting the most out of your 50 minutes. Some of the music could use a little work, but it's hardly noticeable when your legs are shaking! Class moves quickly and is the same format every time, but with little changes to always keep you on your (highest tippy) toes. :) read more

I'm finishing up my unlimited 1 month for new clients. It's been an amazing month. I've been going to 3-4 classes a week coupled with running. This is the strongest and slimmest I've felt in years. I've come to really enjoy the burn during seat work at the barre =) So glad I decided to try this to prep for my upcoming wedding. The studio is conveniently located and clean. Staff is friendly and inspiring. Standouts are Kara and Molly! And Pure Empower with Mary Kate kicked my butt too! read more

In town for work and needed my barre fix so I purchased the 3 for $66 new client special. Everything about the facility is new, from the lockers (no need to bring your own lock), bathroom, and retail area, to the barres, carpet, weights, bands, and balls. Points for the pristine bathroom and for the NY-specific workout gear. Although the locker area can get a bit tight, the studio is spacious where it counts--where the LTBing takes place. The staff were very welcoming and the other clients seemed down-to-earth. Big wins, especially when I'm coming from the southern hospitality and yes m'am, no m'am of Richmond, VA. Compared to the instructors at Union Square and at Pure Barre Denver, I felt like this workout could have been kicked up a few notches. Push-ups, and chest and back were minimal. I have had a number of instructors who really extend and amplify the time and burn that goes into each exercise. Things seemed more abbreviated here. All-in-all, Pure Barre Upper East Side is a win. I left feeling more energized and confident than when I had arrived. Definitely will be back!!! read more

The team at Pure Barre Upper East Side - Second Ave and 65th is so nice and accommodating! I have only taken a barre class at this studio and they were extremely helpful getting me set up without making me feel intimidated. The instructors are all very talented and the classes are a great workout. I would definitely recommend! The studio and facilities were also really clean. read more

After much anticipation, I finally pulled the trigger and did the New Client Special. All of my friends and family have tried PB in some shape or form, so I'm happy to finally be on the PB bandwagon of PB-goers. I've been in such a workout slump lately and going here has seemed to be the only thing that has been able to pull me out. I get to challenge myself mentally AND physically while there, and for that, I'm grateful. Definitely going to keep it up and see where the results take me, but if you haven't yet, give it a try! read more

I love taking barre classes but the music here is so loud that it's dangerous. I couldn't hear her instructions over the pounding music so the workout wasn't good. My ears ring after the classes. I finally asked the instructor if it would be possible to turn it down a touch and she said no and walked away. I understand sometimes a customer can't be accommodated but I was surprised by how rude she was about it. read more

Pure Barre on Second ave and 65th street is AMAZING. It took me 3 years to take my first class and now I am obsessed. The teachers are all amazing and so helpful in the class. The owners are the entire team are all amazing and so Friendly!!!! If you haven't tried a class yet what are you waiting for you will be so happy you went. Thank you Pure Barre 2nd Ave for the best experience ever!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

After trying PB for 2 different months... I can say that it's all about the instructor. All depends on how much you want to burn or if you want to go to a class just to be cool and wasted your money and see NO results! Kudos to Kara she really make you work hard. read more

I've been coming to this Pure Barre studio regularly for about two years now, and I absolutely love it! The team is so friendly and welcoming, and they get to know everyone in the class on a first name basis. Each instructor is encouraging and positive during class, and they always make sure to go around the room correcting form, which is super helpful. For a long time I struggled finding a workout that I can stick to, but this studio helped me change that. I highly recommend!! read more

I took up the one month unlimited intro deal and manage to try many classes. The classic class is my favorite as it get deep into the "tuck" and pulse! The workout programming is great especially by these particular instructors - Mary Kate, Ella Sharpe and Sara Saxton. The instructors does make a huge difference in the momentum and creation of the burn and how they push you to get through the seemingly short 10 seconds! All 3 of them make an effort to know your name, adjust your form, give super clear instructions and definitely effort on tempo and sequence of the exercises so that it is effectively burning! I definitely see a difference in my seat and arms. I will definitely recommend this location and this exercise if you want that perk in your seat, and if you hate planks! read more

I'm not exaggerating when I say I am not someone who has ever worked out regularly. At 31, after my friend highly recommended this Pure Barre location, I finally tried it. I am so thrilled I did! I am now in the middle of a 6 month contract because I am too addicted to these workouts to stop. The instructors are so incredibly kind and helpful (both inside and outside of class). They take the time to get to know you and correct anything that needs improving during class. I am in the best shape I've ever been in, and even better, I'm the strongest I've ever been. If you're someone who has been searching for somewhere to make your workout home, this is it! I will forever be grateful to this studio! read more

I've always struggled with finding a workout routine that I can stick to but Pure Barre is absolutely the answer to my problem. I notice improvements in my strength and endurance in almost every consecutive class I take. The timing is great, the variety is awesome and the instructors are amazing and motivating. Highly recommend! read more

I won a raffle for a free month of classes, figured I'd check it out, and ended up falling in love with the workout. This is the strongest I've felt in years, and I know there's so much further for me to go (the seat work at the barre is fantastically difficult and I relish the challenge). I went from not being able to do a sit-up to doing them with my legs in the air in 12 classes. Now that my unlimited month is over, I'll be continuing the class packs and supplementing with running/weights at my gym. Of note- the 6:30pm classes during the week are quite full; still great classes, but space is tight! I preferred either the earlier/later classes just because I liked having more space. But even in 6:30pm, when there were a ton of people, the teacher would still do individual guidance and corrections when needed. read more

You need to come here! I just moved over here, and I'm so happy I found this place. I started seeing results after 5 classes, and I'm so much stronger now. The instructors rock, and it's just an all around awesome, welcoming place. If you are thinking about coming, just do it! You will not regret coming. read more

I love pure barre! I have been doing barre at all different studios for almost 2 years and this by far is my favorite place. What I love most is how they know your name after class two. It is super motivating and makes you want to come back for more. Thank you Pure Barre!! read more

Really welcoming environment! I feel comfortable as a beginner and someone who is post baby. Despite a very busy work schedule I am usually able to get a class spot last minute! The teachers are always encouraging and making small adjustments. I'm excited to make this a habit. read more

I highly recommend Pure Barre! It's one of the few exercise classes that I can honestly say is worth the money. The workout is totally unique and really effective. I started seeing results really quickly and feel stronger and more confident in my body. The class targets the areas that make the biggest impact - arms, thighs, seat, and abs. The format is consistent but no two classes are ever the same, which I like because it is easy to measure my progress without getting bored. The Second Avenue is a great! I've been to a few PB studios in NYC and I think this one makes the best use of its space! Also, they offer a phone charging station, which is one of the many ways that PB Second Ave thinks about the client experience. read more

Pure barre at 65th and 2nd is great! I've never been disappointed in my work out. I've gone consecutive days in a row and had a different work out each time which is great because it adds variety and something new with each class. Highly reccomend! read more

Great instructors, they to take their time to make sure to are doing your movements correctly. Definitely feel the burn and it's awesome! The club is beautiful, clean and well managed read more

I don't understand all the five star reviews. I have taken many barre classes in the past, and I felt like these are by far the most ineffective. I won't return - in the other classes I've taken at places like Physique 57 or Exhale, I'm literally dripping in sweat and dying. I felt like the unlimited month I took was almost too easy - most of the exercises I could do at home on my own. Some of the instructors are great, and others are not very good at all. I took a class last week, and the instructor didn't even walk around to make adjustments on ANY of us. Super odd. Otherwise, it's a nice facility, clean and the staff was super nice. read more

LOVE everything about PB in general and really enjoy this location. I was a client of Pure Barre in Boston for a year then moved to NY. I was thrilled to see that a location was opened up 3 blocks away from me. The studio is great-very clean and they really maximized the space they have. Lockers are easy to use, bathrooms are stocked and they have some retail available. I do wish they offered some more retail items (PB in Boston had candles, soaps, leggings, sweat towels, water bottles, etc). That isn't a big deal since the there isn't space for all of that. Plus you can order most of the stuff online. Staff is fantastic-they remember your name, they encourage you to power through the times you start to shake. I notice that with new clients, they do an amazing job showing them around the studio as well as review the basic terminology for PB. I am always impressed by that. Classes are starting to become more difficult, which I love. Since they are a new studio, they are constantly improving the difficulty of the classes. I would love to see them use the double tubing or band that wraps around the bar to create more resistance. It really does change the entire workout. I hope they add platform as well, which is a cardio barre. The great thing about PB is you put in as much effort as you want. There are some days my body isn't as strong and I can take it easy in class. The instructors encourage you to lift your leg higher, pulse lower and lean back further during ab work. It is awesome! Overall, I enjoy my daily barre and thoroughly enjoy this location. I start my day feeling empowered, strong, relaxed and proud by going to PB. I work very hard at perfecting my technique and the instructors are always there to help with that. PB has really become my "thing" and I hope to be in instructor with PB some day. It has changed my life and this location just adds to my drive! Thanks PB! See you at the barre tomorrow! read more

Studio itself is very clean and new (hence the 2 stars) but otherwise yikes. Teachers seemed bored and weirdly vacant. Energy is off from the second you step in (and they have the "security" process of being buzzed in from the street - even though this is a storefront on the upper east side) - the overall vibe is unfriendly, silent and noticeably cold. Consistently felt like a depressing factory for barre, which I had never experienced at other places. Did a month long new client special - won't be back to this PB franchise. read more

Kara was a fantastic teacher and this is coming from a former teacher. Perfect studio size and class size, clean, fun merchandise, can't wait to go back! read more

Was so excited when I found out this location was opening across from my apartment! I had gone from time to time at another studio, but the location was not convenient enough to make it part of my regular routine. I have been going (mostly) regularly since their opening in May and have had only great experiences. The staff (front desk and instructors) make a huge effort to remember students which is really nice, especially for NYC. I have always worked out pretty regularly doing a variety of spin, running, boot camps, etc. but after only a month of barre I could do full push ups for the first time in my life. I can also definitely see a difference in my abs which are normally a stubborn area. I'm so happy that this studio opened and look forward to continuing my routine here! read more

Watch out for their late policy of 3 minutes. My train was delayed and I got there 5 min late; they wouldn't let me enter. I wasted my time and money unfortunately and will not be coming back to Pure Barre again. read more

Challenging and so rewarding. The pace is great... pushes you to the point where you really feel it but always keeps things moving so you don't get bored or discouraged. The teachers are all lovely and the vibe is welcoming. I really like how they have the flow down, including getting everyone in and out in a timely and organized manner. Overall, I look forward to coming which is rare for me to say about fitness classes...recommend! read more

I was so excited when this PB location opened up in my neighborhood! I've never been one that likes group classes (or if I'm being honest, working out) but something about the atmosphere and people at this studio make it super enjoyable to attend. I've been attending ever since they opened back in May and now my day doesn't seem complete unless I "lift, tone & burn" at class. I'm completely hooked and love every instructor I've had that works at the Barre, they are all extremely encouraging too! read more

I have been going to Pure Barre for 3 years now. It is my favorite place for a good workout. I do the Classic classes and I feel toned right after! The instructors and front desk staff are all super nice. They also make it a point to get to you and your injuries (if you have any). read more
