This is a great workout and a friendly studio. Instructors and clients are friendly and welcoming. Pure Barre ballet inspired workout is effective, fun and easy to learn. Instructions at the Mason studio are helpful and correcting is always done in a positive way. Their retail is open for anyone and they offer a cute selection of good workout gear. Most studios offer a first class free so you can try it out. They have a more cardio centric option, a strength option plus classic barre. This gives you the ability to vary your workout. Going to barre 3-4 times a week had me in the best shape of my life. Body weight, isometric and challenging but also able to modify for your ability and any health challenges. And don't let the name fool you, there are dedicated male clients too and barre is a great strength, flexibility workout. And one of my favorite things about Pure Barre is that everyone concentrates on themselves so you never feel like people are looking at or judging you. read more

I have recently started going to this Pure Barre location and it is such a positive environment! I started off with the complimentary Foundations class to be sure that this was something that was a good fit - and I signed up for the once a week membership immediately after! As a mid-size woman, I am extremely comfortable in these classes. I was a little nervous going in that I would be on the bigger side there and expected 'ballerina bodies' being the predominant figure there - but there are women of all shapes, sizes, and ages! This is truly a welcoming environment for all and the instructors and fellow members are all very kind. The workout is definitely on the intense side but there are lots of modifications that you can do to make it easier or harder depending on your fitness level. I am already seeing a difference in my ability to keep going in the classes and I feel great after the class! Purely the best fitness studio in Ohio, period. Janna (the owner) is super sweet, but don't let the pretty smile fool you-- she will WORK. YOU. OUT. The classes are always a challenge; I've been regularly attending classes since October (at various locations) and I still get the shakes. BUT! The results I have seen are incredible. My body has become leaner, more toned, and more flexible in ways that I never saw with running or yoga. All levels are welcome. I had no previous dance experience and felt just as challenged at my first class as I did at my most recent class, leaving both times feeling equally amazing. It's a great, fun thing to do with your girlfriends, too. You will all wish for the sweet release of death but then feel so accomplished afterward. My best friend has been trying to get me to take classes at pure barre with her for a few years now but there was something about the description that was intimidating.... "ballet, yoga and Pilates mixed." Yikes. When I saw that they were running a "first week free" special, I made my move. I FINALLY tried a class a few days ago with her and MY GOD it was a work out (on videos it looks so easy!). I got there early and the instructor spent some time explaining what certain terms meant that were used during the session which was very helpful and let me see examples. There was one other first-timer in our class and she did the same for her. Everyone was SURPRISINGLY welcoming and it appeared to be more of a community than an exercise class. Many of the other instructors were in my class (taking someone else's class) and they all personally introduced themselves and asked me what I thought (in addition, they all provided me with encouragement and feedback). The class went for about an hour and I literally thought I was going to have to leave... they focus on micro-movements vs. "bigger and more is better" which seems to be more difficult, especially because it allows you to very specifically isolate certain targeted muscles. I was lost in parts of the routine but for the most part could put the pieces together until about halfway, when what I looked like to the group was less important to me than challenging myself. I tried to make my own modifications throughout and just focused on doing what I could do (vs. going with the group) which seemed to be more effective. Long story short, I almost gave up because I was so out of shape but I'm glad I didn't. I was drenched in sweat afterward and actually spoke with a different instructor for quite a while after the class (which was so incredibly nice of her! She stayed for like 40 minutes to talk and answer my questions). She gave me feedback and encouragement, explained the pure barre process and told me her story. It was briefly hell on earth and I was SO sore for the next few days but I am absolutely going back because I now believe in the program and it's effectiveness in addition to the importance of their supportive and close-knit, encouraging community. Some tips for your first time: -Wear black, non-slip socks (like yoga socks), yoga pants or capris (no shorts) and some type of exercise top. -Arrive early and get an introduction to the terms in addition to letting the instructor know about any injuries you might have (modifications are available and encouraged if needed). -If you shake it's a good thing, it means you're getting to the specifically targeted muscles. Amazing experience! I participated in their free "Barre on the Bridge" event at the Purple People Bridge, enjoyed it and decided to go to a class in studio. I set up my first class through Facebook messenger, arrived early and was shown around and told how things work. I was introduced to the morning's teacher and got started. The class was truly challenging! Everyone was incredibly nice, when I needed to modify, I did - and was given tips when needed. Cues were easy to follow and I was amazed at how challenging it was. It is a total body work out and I was sore the next day. I have been to 4 classes at the studio and love it. I started out with the month-unlimited classes pass and will take advantage of that and then go from there. I highly recommend this!! read more

Love pure barre !!! I've been going here for about a year. All of the instructors are amazing. Cyndy, Katie, Mimi, Heather, Ashley, Kelsi, and the newest addition - Tara. They know what they're doing and it works ! Your first few classes will seem overwhelming and like you're not doing it right - because you're not. I'm certain I looked like an idiot the first few classes. It takes a few weeks to really understand that the smaller the movement, the more effective. I started this when i was 6 months pregnant and worked out into my last month of pregnancy. I came back 3 weeks post baby. The instructors are incredible and make you feel welcome. Using light weights, tubes and a small ball it gets everything burning! in the best way possible! haha I even went before work to their early morning class and felt amazing all day!! Megan was the instructor, and she made sure to include me in the class, remembered my name and paid an equal amount of attention to me as her more regular students.
