The yoga helps me destress and clear my mind, as well as stretch my body and challenge me to accomplish poses. The barre class has been the toughest class to take, but I was happy with the sweat afterwards, because it helped me feel good! Jen, the owner of the GNV Movement Studio, is very nice and is definitely bringing a fresh energy of life to the city. The studio has men and women's locker rooms, along with a wait room/stretch room with a pilates reformer machine. The dance studio is an incredible space, very spacious. The studio offers a variety of classes such as hip hop, ballet, tap, contemporary, and my personal favorite - cardio line dance. The instructors are credible and know their stuff. My mom and I are regulars on Monday night for cardio line dancing with Wanda, who teaches classic line dances like Wobble and Cha cha slide and new line dances that are easy for all levels. It definitely is a great low impact workout but also so much fun. My mom and I always have a great time working up a sweat here. After your class, Jen has these marvelous cold towels that are refreshing to cool you down after your dance class. My personal favorite is the lavender towel. It's such a positive atmosphere. There are lots of different kinds of classes. The space is HUGE! The instructors are very friendly, the classes are judgment free, and the owner has thought of everything. From cold lavender towels, to coffee, to an entire room devoted to stretching, they have covered it all. Every instructor is totally professional and articulate as they guide the class through the routine. They are helpful and always encouraging. The facility is spotless and very well maintained. All the equipment is in top notch order and shape. And all the added small considerations such as lotion, face cleaning towelettes, feminine products, fresh drinking water dispenser, etc. just show the care and pride that goes into this top shelf business. The lobby is small yet welcoming, and the instructors all take the time to personally learn your name. It makes working out much more fun and holds you accountable! The parking lot can get very packed depending on the time of day since it is in the same lot as multiple businesses, but other than that it's a great location.

I also can see a sales pitch beginning a mile away and I think the tactics used by likely the entirety of Pure Barre are predatory and it's probably not only this location. But I'll never go to another one, so you'll have to let me know. I took an intro class today and liked the class. When I was first called to book it I was asked if I was ready to make the time and financial commitment which I thought was a little weird of an ask but okay. Upon going to the class, they made it a point to introduce you to everyone which was lovely. Class was pretty standard. The studio was clean, no frills, basic set up. The fact the studio is carpeted is strange and gave me the ick but was willing to look over the intense lighting and that for a good new studio. I previously had a studio I went to 5 times a week so I'm not new to this format of class. After the class, they had us come into a circle and sit on the floor like we were in grade school. They ask everyone how they felt and their goals and if they are ready to make a commitment today to do this and sign up. I mean they literally go around person by person and ask this - which is wildly uncomfortable for many people to talk about that in front of a group of strangers. Then they tell you about their only 2 membership options - mind you, there are more online. When I was leaving everyone was signing up for memberships. Good for them. Pretty hard to feel comfortable leaving that scenario without signing up. When you look both online and in the app they offer a 4 class, 8 class, and unlimited. Heck, they even offer a drop in! I asked about the 4 class pass. I'm new to the area and don't want to commit to a studio at that level. The associate told me they don't offer that any longer because she felt the clients didn't get the results they wanted. To which I pulled up another way to purchase a 4 class pass to which she remarked, "do you feel you can get the results you want with only 4 classes a month?" My reply "I think that's for me to decide." But seriously, don't shame someone into thinking they need to commit to something . When I was clearly uninterested in any other levels than the 4 pass she said she could actually approve that on the back end and it was a special deal they only give existing clients to keep them taking classes. So, it is an option. You would just rather pitch only two in hopes to make a sale. Be aware of this process. The people I met were kind, they seem bought into their culture which is nice, but I think this entire sales process is disgusting and from further research online this is a Pure Barre process, not the employees in particular.

I heard they offered a $5 community class on Sunday mornings, so I decided to give it a shot. I…read morebrought my own mat but realized they had several to choose from on site (as well as yoga blocks and other assistance items). The teacher was friendly and taught a perfect, easy-going Sunday morning flow. The lights were dimmed and the mirrored wall allowed me to see if I was as aligned as I felt I was during certain poses. The music she selected was great: relaxed acoustic popular music versus the usual spiritual instrumental (both are great, but this was a nice change of pace)! The savasana was my favorite part. The teacher walked around and placed cold clothes infused with lavender oil over our eyes which took me from relaxed to super-zen. I've never been offered that before and it was awesome! It also gave me a way to wipe down my mat once practice ended. Overall, I had a great experience and hope to make this class part of my Sunday morning routine as often as much schedule will allow.
