As someone who has been with PB for almost 10 years and taught for 5, l've been disappointed with the decline in new instructor training across locations since the Xponential buyout.
After visiting a studio out of town, I made an anonymous post on Reddit which had MANY sympathizers from clients and instructors...pointing to the decline in hands on corrections, musicality, cues, etc.
My opinions and frustrations weren't aimed at any studio in particular. I travel often, have been to many PB locations, and consistently see the same issues.
Three days later, I attempt to book a class at PBES using ClassPass. Becky, the owner, informed me an hour before class she would no longer allow me at her studio after seeing my *anonymous* post on Reddit, which made no mention of her studio at all. She must have tied me to my username after I commented on another post detailing the day she canceled a 6am on me.
I went to the studio in an attempt to talk to her rather than get in a text battle, as I was still signed up for the class I paid for. Before I could step foot in or say a word, she said "you're not welcome here," picked up the phone and started calling the police, humiliating me in front of other clients as if I had done something wrong. All because of an anonymous post I made on Reddit about a lack of corrections, musicality, etc that she tied me to.
In an attempt to intimidate me, she's also threatened to sue me if I "publicly disparage" her further in any way; I never publicly disparaged her in the first place, but last I checked it's totally legal to leave reviews about poor business practices.
I'm in utter disbelief of the way Becky handled this situation so poorly. A simple conversation could have gone a long way to avoid such a chaotic outcome. read more
