After almost 5 years as a Pure Barre member, I'm extremely disappointed with how my membership was handled. The studio attempted to charge me for an additional month after cancellation despite years of referrals and purchases. When I reached out, there was no willingness to reconsider. Even more concerning, the moment you voice a concern, your treatment noticeably changes! My "locked-in" rate was not honored and drastically went up even with a contract in place. I expected much better after years of loyalty for a pricey membership. This experience has made it clear the studio values revenue over long-term members. read more

This WAS a great studio. The newest owner is disrespectful to clients and their requests. The owner has trouble keeping employees and only keeps clients because of the few good teachers that stay at studio because of their bond with clients. I would not recommend a long term contract at this studio although I was foolish enough to try to make the best of bad situation and signed up for a year contract. This place has an amazing positive energy! The instructors are warm, friendly and helpful. I'm a newbie. I admit this! I have no idea what I was doing during my first class... or the second or the 3rd. BUT! guidance from everyone (Ashley, Britta, Taryn, Rita, Andrea etc EVERYONE!) just made me better and stronger. Sure, there are days that I miss a class or two but regular up keeping with them just makes you get used to the routine and pretty soon, You'll get the shape you desire. I started in the first week of November. My very first class, Ashley quickly took the time to explain to me what tuck meant, what hold meant -all the terminology to make it less confusing. She made sure I was getting the most out of my time there and made sure my form was right so that I would not hurt myself. My 3 rd class, Britta came to greet me! Little did I know that she was the owner! She was sooo helpful and definitely kept motivating me! It's the only way I would actually push myself a little more! By my like 12 or 13th class, I felt like a pro! I definitely think this class is worth every penny! Sure, some would say it's expensive BUT with the energy, warmth, motivation and those results! I DO NOT REGRET IT ONE BIT! WORTH EVERY PENNY! If you want someone to push you harder than every before, Rita is the way to go! I feel like with her class, I shake more! With Taryn, I feel like I'm perfecting my form! But everyone has a different experience. You need to go to each instructor- They are all AMAZING! Also, buy those sticky socks! makes a big difference. At first I was like, I already have socks do i really need them??? But I decided to see if there was a difference, Yes, you don't slip as much and it grips perfectly! Come at least 5 minutes before! Trust me! (I am sometimes late by a minute) See, there is a late door lock policy. I think it's so that you don't distract the rest of the class and that since your belongings are in a cubicle, it's for protection. I actually like this policy although it is bothersome- BUT, it makes me want to come in as uick as possible! If you have any problems such as payments or you need to hold it for vacation, they are super accommodative. Just talk to them. I promise, they don't bite! Tucked away in Preston Royal Village, Pure Barre Preston Hollow is a studio specializing in the new barre fitness trend, which is comprised of several simple and challenging exercises that help tone muscles in the arms, legs, glutes, and abs. To achieve this, Pure Barre employs a combination of light dumbbells (2lbs - 5 lbs), isometric holds, and the barre. Admittedly, during my first visit, I was a bit lost. I felt like the instructor spoke too quickly and I didn't catch on to her words. However, the instructor is always willing to help newbies like me correct their form, and after attending a few classes, I think I finally have the hang of it! My balance is better and my muscles feel stronger, so I think it's working :) (Note: If your muscles start shaking uncontrollably during class, you're on the right track! Just keep it up and think about the end result.) The only caveat is that the membership or the classes a la carte are a bit pricy, so it's just a consideration. Pro tip: Socks are mandatory for class, so be sure to bring your own socks so that you don't have to buy a pair for $15 at the studio! Cubbies are available outside of the barre studio room as well, so feel free to place your belongings there. read more

I actually do like the actual classes but the instructors show favoritism and can be rude. As a studio Hop member I understand I'm not a member of the studio but I would still like to be treated as part of the class. I spoke with taryn on the phone regarding getting there right at the start time and she was very rude and unhelpful and essentially dismissed any questions I was asking her. You will get a good workout coming here but the customer service definitely needs to be worked on. read more

The teachers are great, very informative & quick to correct my positions to get the most effective workout. I am a results driven person and when you start to see results in two weeks it starts to speak for itself. This studio is nothing less than amazing! Came in for two classes while I was in town for work and enjoyed myself. I find Pure Barre in general doesn't offer as many modifications as I like, and it's true that the fast pace can be hard to follow at first, both of which can make it a little less accessible for beginners. But the teachers made sure to explain the main concepts before class and there were enough similarities between classes that I felt much more comfortable the second day, without repeating the exact same workout. They're a really sweet, friendly bunch of women, and Kate kept me laughing most of class with her dry sense of humor. Do remember to bring water--they have cold bottled water available for a buck but I felt a little silly buying it when I had a mostly-empty water bottle with me. read more

I'll start by saying Pure Barre is an awesome workout and you will see results, but only IF you do it consistently and correctly! Just like any workout there's a learning curve, so don't expect to nail it your first class. It takes about 5 classes to start to understand the technique and lingo, and even then it takes some time to really get that "aha" moment. For example, during your first yoga class did you know what a vinyasa flow was, and execute it perfectly the first time? Hell no! You had to take a bunch of classes to get it down. Same concept with Pure Barre. The class is an hour long, it starts with a floor work warm up, gets into upper body weights, then progresses to thighs, butt work (they call it seat), funky abs under the barre (hardest part to understand, so don't feel bad if you don't feel the ab burn here), abs in the center of the room (you will definitely feel the burn here) and a stretch. The pace is fast, its supposed to be! The music is upbeat and loud, because its barre, and barre was created by a dancer. And the instructors wear a mic so you can hear them. They only demo the first few of each exercise and then they walk around checking form and doing corrections. If you don't get something wave them over and ask, so much better than being confused and I promise nobody will notice, they're too busy focusing on themselves. Again, your first few classes you will be cursing the teachers for not demoing the whole thing, but once you understand the lingo you'll like it, trust me. IF you take class 3-4 times a week, and really push yourself each class you'll see awesome changes in your body! Slimmer thighs, higher booty, slimmer arms, flatter abs. If sexy isn't your thing this class isn't for you! Also, for all you ClassPasser's out there, unless you already have a solid barre understanding you are going to struggle through this class at first. Don't feel bad and don't give up! Also, if you equate sweat with a good workout then this also isn't for you, yes you'll sweat but its not a spin class, so don't expect to sweat the same amount. I hope this helps! read more

Pure Barre Preston Hollow has been such a lifesaver (or legsaver)!! After running a marathon and a hand full of halfs at the start of 2014, I found myself spending the summer in physical therapy with ITBS and achilles tendinitis due to under developed supporting muscles. I had dabbled in Pure Barre previously and found so many of the physical therapy exercises to be very similar. I was so excited to learn that PB Preston Hollow was opening close to work. The teachers at PB Preston Hollow welcomed me in with cheerful attitudes and big smiles. They are always willing to offer tips to correct my form or push myself further. Running a marathon did not do a lot to help me prepare for Pure Barre but Pure Barre Preston Hollow has given me the strength (and great playlist ideas) to finally run pain free again.
