ReformHer Pilates

ReformHer Pilates

Alright, time for me to gush! It is rare to find good dance/fitness studios so when I do, I go…read moredeep... I attended my first intro class at ReformHer last weekend and immediately fell in love with this studio. As someone who grew up doing Pilates as a dance, I've been struggling to find a good Pilates studio that had small class sizes and attentive instruction. I'm glad that the "big box" studios like Club Pilates and Solidcore have brought Pilates and Pilates-inspired fitness to the masses, but it just wasn't the Pilates that I originally fell in love with. Imagine my delight when I moved to a new apartment this year and discovered ReformHer just a quick 5-7 minute drive down the road! Kelsey is an absolute delight of a woman. She is attentive to client needs while also pushing you to get out of your comfort zone. I particularly enjoyed that she took the time to understand our reasons for coming to Pilates and pointed out specific exercises that would be especially pertinent for our concerns. Because the classes are small (5 students max), they are tailored for the individuals in attendance. I also found that Kelsey's packages/rates are very fair for the level of instruction and variety of apparatus in the studio (oh yes, this is not just your basic reformer Pilates or prop-less Pilates - you will use that Magic Ring and you will like it!) I signed up for the 8x/month package for $229, which is just under $30/class - unheard of rates for boutique Pilates. For folks who are looking for very rigid classical style Pilates with the standard sequence... it doesn't exist in the area, sorry. BUT! I'll give the reassurance that while Kelsey's exercises are more contemporary, her teaching style is quite classical. She focuses on alignment, activating that core powerhouse, is meticulous about precision and control, gives great corrections, etc. There is also NO talk about "earning your lunch" or "burning calories" or any of that mess. Oh, and this is completely superficial of me, but the studio is also SO DARN CUTE!! with soft mauves and pinks and soft lighting. It makes me excited to go to class haha.

Love this place. The owner is the best. I feel energized when, and I can't wait to return.read more

My review of BodyBarre is past due! I am so happy to have been told about this place! Each…read moreinstructor, each class, each visit -- wow. BodyBarre is such a welcoming and happy studio! The instructors are well-versed in each of their low-impact, workout-exercise forms. I've attended Pilates mat, Mat Lengthen, Signature Barre (combo Pilates & barre & yoga), Define (oooh, baby!), Fly (silks) yoga, Flow (yoga), BB Bliss, BB Burn (ohhhhh, baby, baby!) and many of the 45 min. afternoon classes and 60 min. evening classes. I also took a Salty Yoga in the Salt Revival salt room! The only classes I haven't tried are those crack-of-dawn ones. Sending power to those ladies who workout before I'm awake! I am not, and have never been a ballet dancer. I am three months into classes at BodyBarre, and I can say that I am stronger, more balanced, and feeling better - because I'm moving small and large muscles during these workouts. BodyBarre is for ALL bodies, ALL ages. This is a place that truly welcomes, and encourages everyone. I would recommend anyone thinking of adding a little, or little more, or a lot of cardio to take a few BodyBarre classes at your own pace. For me, it was time to discover that I could do more for my health by adding some cardio in a fun, supportive studio. Locally owned, too! Paige, Samantha, Anita, Megan, Avery, Cassidy, Rani, Leilani, Sarah and Lori - you are incredible, and I'm so glad that you are sharing your passion for health and fitness with us!

Paige & Estella infuse me with energy! I had never been to a real barre class before (just Youtube…read morepilates videos for me), and I had thought that my routine had been sufficient for about four years throughout university. However! In class, the instructor gently adjusts you to have lovely form and proper technique, which really makes a difference in how refreshing my workouts feel afterwards (apparently careless technique when I did pilates on my own sometimes just sort of left me feeling drained after my workouts). Having to pay attention elegant technique makes pilates from more than an isolated sweatfest during the day, and makes it seep into other parts of my life -- i.e. I've started getting compliments on my posture by my mother (the ultimate accomplishment). It's not too difficult for those just beginning -- the instructors seemlessly transition from warmup to sweatbreaking moves to cooldown. On the other hand it's quite quite sufficient for those wanting a good workout, and I've been satisfyingly sore from their classes many a time.

No class routine is the same. Each instructor plans their lessons and adapts the moves to each client in their (limited size) classes. New to me, and I'm very excited about: Reformer Pilates (reformer, tower, cardio jumpboard, mat and mixed equipment to name a few of the class "styles"), Yamuna Ball Rolling, Gyrokinesis and Gyrotonics. Maybe in another month I'll be ready to try one of the Barre classes that Jennifer Stinson teaches. Jennifer is a fun and motivational teacher who also teaches several of the Pilates Reformer classes, and she's gotten to know me and my capabilities well. I'm falling in love again with Yoga, lead by the awesome Virginia Logan. If my health/wellness negatively changes, I wouldn't hesitate to sign up for 1:1 private instruction classes to get me back to my best self. There's so much more for me to experience and explore in this studio... so much more that I just signed up for a year of classes!

Before my account was to be unfrozen they sent out a text and I was able to freeze again. I wasn't going to unfreeze until I felt the embryo and now fetus was safe to be put h deer some pressure during the workouts. This happened for two months, kind text, replied to keep account frozen no problem. The third month however, the text was sent and I had replied back to keep account frozen due to some pregnancy issues that needed to be addressed first. League City then replied to my text that it was too late to freeze my acct and I needed 7 days to do so. It was confusing because their text before had been sent in time but now all of sudden it wasn't. I was then told to email my concern to manager. I did so and explained the confusing texts from Club Pilates, with some months being able to freeze and now not although replying minutes after their text was sent about my account. I also explained the issues with this pregnancy and wouldn't come back until those were settled. Someone finally called me two days later and had no compassion and rudely interrupted me several times. Would I go back, no. I'll find another studio that works with their clients with more care than Club Pilates. I was an unlimited member and would come 4-5x a week and to be treated like this is a shame.

Walking in, I received a friendly greeting by what seemed like the owner or manager. He gave me a quick tour of the new facility, and was helpful in answering any questions. Bliss Boutique Fitness offers multiple yoga, cycling, pilates and aerial yoga classes. Don't be shy if you're a beginner, their classes are great whether you're brand new or highly experienced. For the flow yoga class I attended, I believe Haley was the instructor if I remember her name correctly. Her yoga class flowed together really well, and her instructions were clear without being a distraction from your breath. She was able to provide multiple modifications whether you wanted to keep your practice easy or more advanced. I also appreciated that she had already set out mats, towels, and blocks for us to utilize before the class began. I had brought my own mat, but there's was more convenient since it was already ready for us. As far as the facility goes, it's very clean!! The natural lighting really makes the yoga areas zen, and the cycling room had black out curtains to make the strobe lights and music more fun. Restrooms, changing rooms, hand wash station, cubicle type lockers, and shower are all available to use as well. I came here as a classpass user to try this place out, but because I enjoyed it so much, I honestly might become a member! Hopefully next time I'll get to try their cycling and aerial yoga classes, no experience is needed if you're feeling skeptical.
