For some GOD AWFUL reason World Gym got rid of the wet wipes used to clean the equipment before and after using the machines. No idea why but it's hella inconvenient now and I've noticed people not even wiping down the machines after using them. BRING BACK THE WET WIPES. I really like this gym. It's huge with tons of equipment. I usually go during the day and it's nice and easy to use whatever you want. Have gone in the evening and it's busier for sure but it's still possible to get a good workout in. Lots of cardio machines. Youll easily be able to get on equipment. Lack of communication with the manager. Paid almost $1000 for 3 months of training & everything was going well until they switched over & the trainer I had left. Two weeks with no contact from the management team. Since then, we have been unable to contact the manager after leaving several requests, calls & emails. I've been a member here for about a year now and I absolutely love. My initial reason for getting the membership was the fact its a full gym and offered kickboxing classes. Although kickboxing is no longer available i still love the variety of option avaliable to choose from. This gym us also huge. A full baseball court, a Women's only workout area, outside workout stations, pickleball. The gym is very large even when its full you can still find a area thats not occupied especially if you're someone that possibly has social anxiety or gym anxiety. read more

Enrolled on December 20th 2024, attempted to cancel on January 17th but didn't make the cut off date for February. World gym charged me an additional month pending cancellation for February 20th 2025. Ok fine... February 3rd, world gym charges me a "new" annual fee of 29.00 as my account is pending cancellation. Disputed with my bank and I got my money back. Requested to talk to the manager, no call back for days. Never explained what this annual fee was. I've been a member of World Gym for a few years now, paying around $50 a month. I don't expect luxury or fancy amenities, but this gym has really gone downhill. The place is constantly dusty and dirty, the restrooms always smell bad and look like an afterthought, and many of the machines are broken or take forever to get fixed. For the number of people they bring in, there just isn't enough equipment -- it's always overcrowded. My trainer recently quit, and while I don't know all the details, it seems like management doesn't treat their own staff well either. I've genuinely loved this gym and have put in a lot of time here, but lately it feels like profits have become more important than quality. What a GREAT experience! Thanks to Stephen Fuller, a personal trainer, I was able to get a great workout and learn so much. He was patient and explained everything thoroughly. He is definitely an asset to World Gym in Texas City! As for the Gym itself, it is spacious and has a variety of equipment for a great workout, and there are classes too. There is a separate gym for woman which is a bonus, but for some reason it is extremely hot in there. Lastly, the cleanliness has a bit to be desired, especially the ladies bathroom and locker room. it used to be immaculate, but now there is hair on the floor, sinks and toilets are filthy as well as showers, and it has gotten worse in the last 6 months. I came in needing assistance with making a membership, and instead of guiding me through she had an attitude and was just rude and entitled. I've never felt so unwelcome at a gym before. World gym is the place for all the hardcore gym goers that want a place to get a crazy pump without weight limits and being judged for making noise **Cough Cough...Planet fitness**. There are plenty of dumbbells, squat racks, and bench's to go around for everyone! I go here at about the same time every day and rarely have to wait to use any piece of equipment. There are plenty of treadmills, ellipticals, stair masters, and other machines for all the cardio lovers . I personally love the outdoor part of the gym which also has everything you need outside. The staff are friendly for the most part and the trainers are great and supportive of your fitness goals. There's also a basketball court, physical therapy, a cafe, massage and beauty salon located here. I highly recommend this gym for anyone who wants to get serious about fitness, or to take it to the next level ! read more

Why would you spend all this money on building a local and awesome pickle ball court... then close it down early at 7:00pm when the scorching sun is just starting to go down. When you first opened it up, you had it open till 8:00pm then dropped the time down. Who the hell is going to play in the hot sun and heat, that is directly above that side of the courts most of the daytime... 6:31pm and sun still all in your face. I was in a bad car accident and was hospitalized for a month. I called World Gym, Texas City to cancel my membership. The gentleman explained that I had to give 30 days notice and pay the additional month. I took care of that and assumed all was well. The following month, I received an email indicating that I was behind on my account. I phoned the location and and after being on hung up on twice and placed on hold for several minutes, got ahold of a manager. He explained that I had to physically come to the location, complete a cancelation form and until that was done, I would still be charged monthly dues. Then he hung up on me. I was livid. The following day, I drove over an hour to the location. The girl at the front desk was extremely helpful. She apologized and provided me the form. I advised her that I was NOT going to pay for the additional months they were attempting to charge me for. She advised me that she would pass my info along to her manager to see if he could do anything. The front desk manager, Jay, called me the following day. He apologized and said that all was taken care of. My account was closed, and I owed no money. I couldn't thank him enough for taking care of this hassle for me. Amazing customer service, and I really appreciate it. Gyms are notorious for swooning you to get a membership but then giving such grief when you want to cancel. I told Jay that I would give this review. I'm a retail manager myself and have to handle endless customer issues. He went above and beyond to take care of me. The facility is actually very nice. It's a massive gym with more equipment and services than you could ever need. I highly recommend it. I do think, however, that some of the management staff need additional customer service training. After all, a customer that has a positive experience, will tell one or two people. A customer that has a negative experience, will tell ten people. In these times, every single customer is valuable. Went to gym at 530am on 9/8/2022. Gym was not open. 2 employee trainers were outside and said they did not have key to the gym.

They will tell you any lie to sell you a membership. Also they changed policy, cleaned out everyone's lockers with a three day notice of just a flyer in the locker room. I bought my membership because of the ability to keep my gear there and stop by any time I'm in the area for work . I didn't go to the gym in those three days and now over $600 of my gear is missing and the manager has not contacted me still. Very poor management decisions and lying salespeople, I bought my membership based on the (bs) perks they told me were included. I've asked for a refund of my fees as I've only had my membership two months, and they are completely ignoring me on this matter also. This is the most expensive gym at $70. Took my 17 year old son up there to sign up and they gave us a good tour and promised us a special they were running for Memorial Day for veterans. They talked up the gym real well and when he came back the next day alone, suddenly the deal wasn't available anymore so he was pressured into sign a contract for a higher price. Even though they promised it and gave us a paper with the prices to bring back with us. They used the ol bait and switch tactic real quick on him. I hate this gym. I've been here for a little over a year now and I've been charged "VIP membership" because it's the "only option" they have. I don't want the VIP membership because I don't use the VIP amenities. I've confronted them about only having the VIP membership for 39.99 when they have a sign right outside saying 29.99 no contract, the associate told me she will speak to her manager but they never got back to me about the pricing. The roof is always leaking and there are buckets all over the floor to catch the dirty water dripping that they constantly have to mop up. The AC is only on half the time. It just isn't worth 39.99. I'm really only coming here because it's at a convenient location for me. The staff here is also sub par, like I mentioned before, they have not gotten back to me about pricing. They do not care about feedback. They've also mentioned moving locations this year and they still haven't moved; they mentioned having different membership plans at the new location but I honestly doubt it. A lot of machines here need to be fixed as well, but right now they refuse to fix them because they are "moving", this place is so unprofessional. read more

I was charged again after canceling because they only canceled one name instead of our family of 6. Then they wouldn't refund, they just said "now it's canceled". Also, our last day, the kid zone was playing a PG-13 movie in a room full of young children. All under the age of probably 9. This is a new gym but I'm surprised that it didn't have a Yelp page prior to this, nor any reviews except for those found on their FB page. Anyway, on with this review. With this place being new, you can expect that their machines, weights, areas are in top condition. This is the biggest WG, I think I heard? Taking over the whole second floor of the Mall of the Mainland, it is pretty spacious. A TON of treadmills, which I love. On crowded hours, you never have to worry about a free treadmill because they have so many! These treadmills are also top of their line; sturdy, equipped with fans, workout templates; it's amazing. There are also ellipticals, spin machines, stair workouts. All of which are lined with television to keep you entertained. On to the weights; their weight area is scattered, which is great, so not all (grunting) weight lifters make a congruent sound. Lots of free weights, equipped machines, etc to make you happy. Yes, it does get crowded, but there's enough weight for every body. Their areas are also decal-ed with inspiring quotations; I can tell the owner/franchisee of this gym really cares about fitness as those quotations do help! They have a lot of free classes to offer, the only one that's extra is Crossfit. I just find it awkward that their only yoga times are from 7 to 8pm every Tue/Thurs, which doesn't fit my schedule. Now, regardless, their yoga rooms are open for anyone to go into and use; so are their spin rooms. They also have daycare for the kiddos. There's a 60yard track line inside! I love this part of the gym! There's also a private women's work out area, which is connected from the outside, but mainly from the women's bathroom. Only two treadmills are inside, few other equipments and weights, but good enough if you want to keep it private. Bathrooms are clean; showers are hot. They have a very nice lady that I always see cleaning, she does a great job. As for staff, they're all very nice people! Got a tour of the place before joining. All very personable and their buff bods, too, ya know?! Like, inspiration or what! Haha. Lastly, membership is a first-last month pay; no sign up fee, although they want you to pay that last month. I ended up paying about $64-something up front, so it's about $30 per month; a reaaaally good deal for an even better gym. The gym has went down hill the last several years. Be carful with the trainers, they are like crooked used car salesmen there. They will prey on younger folks too and straight up lie to get you to sign a contract. Then, start charging you ridiculously and say well, should of read the fine print, nothing you can do now and walk away from you. If you say no to them, they will follow you around everyday until you say yes to their "free training" or "use it as you go". They really push it hard to high school kids who don't have anyone with them to call BS on their "promises", then straight up lie about it later. Really predatory sales tactics if you're new to the gym world or a high school kid. Robert and Cuba are all about pushing numbers and will say anything to get you locked in and then refuse to help you understand or cancel. ATTENTION: PLEASE READ!!! Don't waste money paying their personal trainers. You are paying money for certified trainers when these trainers are not certified. The gym is always clean and smells okay for a gym. They have good variety of classes so that's nice. My problem is with the personal training. They've been through tons of companies. I've researched and asked the manager and it appears all of the personal trainers are not certified. Does Jerome know this? During my sign-up session, the guy told me he could show me certificates for anyone. I asked to see the different certifications and no go. He tried to act like he forgot then couldn't produce them. Personal trainers have to take a test to be certified, right? Is that what yall really want, some bloke that walked off the street with big muscles, training you. That's unsafe and if someone gets hurt, they'll be liable because they're lying to people telling them the trainers are certified. I personally researched everyone at that gym and I only found one certification for the female group trainer. Most of ther others probably have a fraudulent certificate they made on Word. Please beware. World Gym needs to disclose this information to consumers and let them make an educated decision, not lie. read more

This is a good facility, I go early in the morning and never have to wait for any machines, in the evenings its crazy busy but again I wasn't that inconvenienced by waiting on the few occasions I went in the evening. They have a few roof leaks when the weather is bad, other than that the place is well looked after, anytime a machine is broken its fixed pretty quickly. read more

I don't live in Texas City. I was there due to an automobile accident that resulted in the death of my sister. I have my own gym in my house where I live, so I was looking for a gym near Texas City so I could keep up with my workout schedule for the month plus I was there. The manager, hearing why I was there, went out of his way to offer me a cheap temporary membership, so I wouldn't have to pay the walk-in rate for workouts. He didn't have to do that, and it was a greatly appreciated act of kindness during a difficult time. As for the gym, it is big. Plenty of workout space, with all the equipment one could want, from treadmills, spin bikes, machines, and free weights. Due to the size, I never felt it was crowded, and I never had to wait to get on a piece of equipment. There were always employees there cleaning equipment and the floor. The front desk workers were always pleasant and helpful. I highly recommend this gym! read more

When I first wanted to get a trainer it was $180 the next day that I went they raised it up to $200 then they charge you $40 for processing fee so I ended up walking out of there with like $294 these people rob you and I didn't even get any service because my trainer quit what kind of shit is this bad service all bad service I hired a trainer to work with me then all the sudden a day to two days later he quits I call and cancel and let them know that I don't have a trainer therefore they want to charge me $329 for this bullshit all they do is take your money they don't care about you or a customer they just want to goddamn money I will never give this place a good review I've also canceled my contract to I don't even want to work out at a place like this I'm taking my business elsewhere read more

Have been coming here for a couple months at least 3x per week so far and I'm pleased. Huge facilities with a large free weights area and also lots of machines as well. Also tons of treadmills, bikes, kettlebells of all sizes, even battle ropes. There isn't anything missing from this gym that anyone would need. From 5-7 pm gym is busy but not too crowded that you are waiting much. Place is well maintained, there is a cleaning lady who is here literally every time I'm here, she is constantly keeping place clean. Membership dues also very reasonable. I wish they would have more than ONE water fountain in this gym, and with cold water. They sell bottles of chilled water for $1 but that's no consolation! Don't let the other 3 reviews fool you. The staff could care less if you dropped a weight on your head and cracked your skull. You would bleed out and the blood stain would probably be there for a week before it was cleaned up. A "new" gym that may as well be 30 years old. Nothing is maintained or kept clean and frankly, a freeway gas station restroom is cleaner. I never use the facilities due to fear of catching a disease. I've been a member for over a year strictly due to the lack of options. Thankfully, I'm moving soon. There's a reason they always run specials... If you have a choice, I suggest you take it. read more
