I went with a breakfast burrito and it was yummy and very well proportioned. I definitely would give these guys a try, clean, reasonably priced, delicious food and friendly service. Zero complaints about the service. The lady was very friendly and welcoming. Plenty of drink options! The most I've seen at a food truck. I'm torn because the flavors themselves were so good. The guacamole, the salsas both were delicious, but I was very disappointed in the meat. It did not taste fresh and overall, one of the worst adobada meat I've had in a while. Food is so good, they have so many options from burritos, tacos, to burgers. I got a breakfast burrito and added a spicy serrano on the side! They have different drink options; we went with horchata and honeydew melon. Staff is so friendly and accommodating. Outdoor seating is clean, shaded, and has a fresh breeze. read more

Not a Fan! Was super excited to try them as I love papas any way. The meat had no flavor at all (disappointed), and the Lady taking my order was more concerned and focused on bashing her neighbor "La Cocina del Abuelo" than in trying to sell her food, because she saw my Husband head there to order his favorite there the Birria Ramen. Also they had no avocado, and got upset because I asked for some, she told me "you can find them at any grocery store". Not a good experience at all, I love to read reviews, and when I see so many positive I like to go try new places, this was definitely not my experience here. This is our second time coming here and we love this place! I am from Los Angeles and I always eat San Diego tacos because they always try to make it like Tijuana style but it's never ever good. I felt like these tacos are the best that I've ever had even better than tacos El Gordo or whatever big name brand San Diego but I discovered this place forever ago when I used to live in San Marcos and now I live in downtown. Stopped at this food truck on our way home for a late lunch. My son ordered the 3 Quesabirria Tacos while I ordered the Loaded Fries with Adobada; all to go. The customer service was friendly, their recommendation to order the fries with adobada was welcome, their prices were reasonable, and the food finished quickly. I tried the quesabirria tacos, they were very tasty, and the consumée was nice. My son loved it. The Adobada was DELICIOUS! I'll go back there again for anything with that in it. My only mild complaint is that I asked for crispy fries and they weren't especially crispy, but that won't stop us from eating there again. read more

Puras papas is such a gem! So glad we found this spot. The portion sizes for the price are excellent, it's really unusual these days to get a plate size that is reasonable for the price. 2 of us ate and got full for $25. The loaded fries were perfect, the perfect fries, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside and large enough to hold all the toppings well. Quesabirria were great as well. The worst Mexican I have had. The meat was so dry that my kids couldn't chew through it. I think the worst of all was that the salsa was not good. I have no idea how a taco shop can mess salsa up. When we noticed that other customers behind us were receiving their food we realized they had lost our order. We understand this happens but when we brought it to their attention they weren't attentive. They just kept saying it was coming. So after waiting even longer and watching other customers behind us get their order, we brought it up again. And again they didn't even try to find our order. Finally, after even MORE customers behind us got their orders we asked them again to check. Finally the cook flattened out our ticket that had been crumpled into a ball and fallen behind the counter! No apologies, they then put our ticket behind orders that again came after ours. Unbelievable. Too bad because the food wasn't bad. Not great but not horrible. They were advertising that they cater. Everyone has their favorite Mexican food place. Puras papas is mine! It has everything, wonderful people, thank you Maria and Victoria. Outstanding food, not just good, outstanding. I'm working my way through the menu but it's hard to get past the birria. 3 fat tacos of delicious meat and don't skip the consomme, it's life changing. I like the plates with some salad and crema on the side, like the papas tacos, a perfect bite of hot and cold. Did I mention the price? A lot of delicious food for 10 or 12 bucks. Almost forgot, I judge most places by their salsa, gotta be tasty and deliver the heat. Puras papas does both. Puras papas does it all! read more
