This is a Mexican food truck that specializes in seafood. It is located on an unfortunate street where it appears that some folks may be living in their cars. You shouldn't have any trouble finding free street parking. There will likely be other food trucks nearby so make sure you're at the correct one. Some of the prices on the menu are so high that I honestly wondered if the amount shown was in pesos. Choose carefully when you order or you just might get a really good single taco for 15 bucks. We tried a fish taco, a shrimp taco, and the Mar Y Tierra burrito (shrimp and carne asada). The fish taco was good-sized but nothing special. The shrimp taco is very large and it's very delicious. I could down a few hundred of these in a competitive eating contest. The Mar Y Tierra burrito is a huge beast. I thought the shrimp was overcooked and the meat was just ok. But the flavors in this burrito were terrific. I would order it again if I wasn't powering down shrimp tacos. Service was very friendly and we only waited about 5 minutes for our food. There are a couple of tables near the truck if you want to eat there and enjoy the nasty view. Otherwise, you can just get takeout. By the way, some of the hot sauces here, which come out of squeeze bottles, are positively satanic. And they are all unmarked, of course. I still devoured all of them. If you're in the area this is a good ol basic, simple and yummy seafood spot. Portions are good for the price. The aguachiles was HOT as the Fffff the day I was there, I'm sure it varies depending on how long that batch was marinating. But today it was hot! This is a food truck on the side of the road. Oh this food truck!!! So I've been on a mission to find some really good fish tacos lately. I've tried a few of the local favorites in Oceanside, Vista and San Marcos. Now I've been to San Felipe and all over Baja and have had some really good authentic Mariscos and fish tacos. While some of the local favorite are good, so far Mariscos German is the best!!!! Not just for the quality(which is top notch), or the quantity(big portions) but also the value (the price including all the above can't be beat!!!). So let me stop hyping this place up and get to the damn food already. The fish tacos are $2 each and are about twice the sizes of any place Ive been to so far. Big pieces of fish and the batter on the fish is so freakin good. If there is a better fish taco out there I haven't found it yet and for the size of them for $2 bucks it's hands down the best!! Now to the Mariscos!! So the ceviche or tostadas they call them is absolutely the BOMB!! You get a nice tray full of ceviche and about 3 fresh fried tostadas (some other places that were good had horrible store bought tostadas). Now this ends up being a lot of ceviche as there is more than 3 tostada worth so no need to ration eat. The fish is $4.25, shrimp is 4.75 and the mixed(with all kinds of seafood) is a little more. I have paid twice as much at other places like Miramar fish tacos for example and was not impressed. I have yet to try the shrimp cocktail but I can only imagine it does not disappoint. The carne asada taco (my friend ordered this by the way so don't trip lol) was about 5 bucks but was so huge it was at least 2 tacos in one. The surf and turf though only comes with a few shrimp but is still the bomb. Also after you order they will give you a cup of soup (caldo) which has a big ass whole shrimp in it and some veggies. It's pretty damn good too. So to end this long ass review (because I could go on and on about this place!!) I will say this is by far is one of the best Mariscos in all of north county, food truck or not. The days of the roach coach are long gone and this truck has got it goin on!!! Portions are huge! And they cook them to order. Crispy and perfectly cooked the fish each taco comes with cabbage and Pico de gallo. You can get salsa on the side. My friend has been coming here longer than I have, so I'm writing this portion in his experience as well. Most of our time here has been great with no problems except our most recent trip. Friend ordered 4 tacos (1 shrimp and 3 fish) but we only received 3 and was charged a weird custom item fee for $1.50 instead of the shrimp taco fee (something around $3). Not sure what it was because we didn't receive anything other than the 3 fish tacos. I guess we'll count it as extra tip money but it was a bummer :(. Finally we have a legit mariscos truck in North County! Neighbors, come check them out! $1.50 delicious fish tacos and other Ensenada-style fruits of the sea! I had their fish and gobernador. The fish was crispy and flaky with the right amount of condiments and flavors. Love the mayo with the orange creamy hot sauce. Make sure you let them know if you don't want mayo in yours. The pink watery sauce is the spiciest, even more so than the red chili one - it's made of habanero. Warned you! Gobernador was packed with perfectly charred sizable shrimp! The sautéed green bell peppers, onions and cheese cannot go wrong in this taco! The lady was friendly with a smile but it took her a while to acknowledge me and take my order while she was busy handing out food to customers at the pickup window and talking to the chefs. I believe this German truck is the same one that I had in SD but I'm not sure. They do have another location in SD but I honestly can't keep track. Whatever. Finally had the chance to try this place! Next time I'm brining and folding chair... The food is delicious and addicting... I enjoyed both the fish and shrimp tacos. Much better than Rubios. I hate to leave a bad review :( but I'm only doing so, so you can be aware of the quality going down. I heard the ownership changed and that's why the food tastes different and is no longer up to the old expectations. I've been coming here for years but lately had stopped eating out. I decided to come eat here and order aguachiles, a tostada, shrimp tacos, and fish tacos. All of them disappointed. The food portions decreased drastically, I wouldn't mind paying a bit more but getting the same portion sizes. Oh well. I would say that this is no longer the place for mariscos. A TACO TUESDAY MUST!!!! Everything here is absolutely amazing, and it is such a great place to eat for lunch. Highly recommend the mix tostada, as well as the shrimp tacos.
