There is no rating lower than the 1 star I have to give. Over the past 20 year's we have had 5…read moredogs which all went to PetSmart for grooming. It used to be a place of compassion, understanding and respect. The last time we were in we took our Labradoodle in for a grooming. Yes, still well under two years of age but his 5th time in at this particular store. It was after this visit we were told that Kyle would no longer be welcome there as he was 'difficult'. Not sure how to interpret this, and with no additional information (only distain) being offered, we took him home after a violently-less-than-professional grooming experience. He was aloof, moody and frightened for a good two weeks after that encounter. This put me in the predicament of finding someone who would now take our 'difficult' dog in for grooming. Sedation is an option, but I don't want to put my dog down for a grooming - there has to be a better solution. I looked around and called many different places, each not too comfortable with what I was presenting as a 'difficult' animal to handle, as I had been told he was. Just as an aside, at home he is the most loving, loyal and gentle guy in the world, but understand in this circumstance maybe he can behave differently - again, going by what little I had been told. I finally spoke to the people at Ruff Haus, and explained the situation. They said they had groomed more rambunctious varieties in the past and would be willing to take Kyle in. I did just that at the beginning of April. Fearing the worst, I waited for the call. Two hours later I got a call from them saying Kyle would be ready in 10 minutes and to head over. "Was he a handful?" My immediate question as they had said nothing. No, not at all. When I got there I asked to see his groomer. Again, my question. "No, he was terrific - such a great dog!" Huh??? "So you would take him again?" - Absolutely - The only reasonable explanation is that he was handled and groomed by a professional groomer who enjoys their work and respects their clients. The alternative at PetSmart is an indolent millennial whose head is firmly planted in their Instagram and their ass at the same time. I shall never darken your door again PetSmart. Neither will the family and friends I have (currently a total of 17 dogs, 8 cats, 2 snakes and 3 active aquariums). Don't want your food. Don't want your toys. Don't want your services. Don't need your attitude. If the grooming is run as a separate franchise, please take a closer look. If it is part and parcel of the store, and the chain as a whole, shame on you. Pathetic.
