3/26/25 Getting lunch! Ordered on DoorDash; Samosas, Rice, Tandoori Fish & Stuffed Parantha. Paid for it there and received notification when it would be ready. Go to pick it up!! Arrived and told the worker I had an order to pick up that I made on DoorDash. He seemed in disbelief and I was shocked, thinking it wasn't even made yet..... Thankfully, he came right out with entire order and was nice. He bagged it and smiled. Relief!! Indian grocery store set up upon walking in with Indian decor. My friends and I had an excellent meal at Punjabi Kitchen in Madera on our way to the Bay Area from Sequoia National Park. The owners were warm and welcoming, and they were very accommodating of our preferences. We ordered fish pakoras, dal, chicken curry, naan, tandoori roti, and mango lassi. Everything tasted fresh, authentic, and flavorful. The dishes had well-balanced spice and texture profiles, and the food truly felt like home-cooked comfort. We ordered butter chicken and naan on our way back home from a trip. The servings of chicken wasn't that much plus the order didn't come with even a little rice, you have to pay extra for that. While the naan was decent, we were unimpressed with the butter chicken. For one, portions were small and you've got way more sauce than chicken (which is sliced in thin pieces, not strips or chunks). The whole thing was super oily that it gave me heartburn for two days. We've lived in a large Punjabi community before and have had access to incredible Indian food, sadly, we were disappointed with the Butter Chicken here. read more

The gentleman who waited on us was very kind, respectful. honorable, gentle and especially generous. He served us our food with love. He explained how long it would take for the vegetable Pakora to be made fresh, 40 minutes. He respectfully asked us if we had time and willingness to wait for that. Which we were. We got the mild spicy chicken tikka masala. it was outstandingly good with Jasmine rice. The garlic naan bread was fresh homemade melted butter on top outstanding flavor. We also got the vegetable Pokora, which was made fresh to order and came out on time as expected. I got the black lentil Dal soup medium spicy, which was also excellent. If you don't go here you are missing out. The food and grocery selection are great and the only authentic Indian selection around. We came to try the food and we were not disappointed! To start, there was a limited menu, so you know everything is going to be a specialty of the cook's. Then you look at the selection and it's perfection. All the classics, samosas and their sauces and paneer, etc. But the knock your socks off was the goat meat curry. O.M.G. You can absolutely tell they used real goat meat. Yum! Perfectly fluffy rice, amazing bread and everything else. We came for the food, but were also very impressed by the grocery selection. Wow! All the shelf stable things you could ask for, so many lentils/rice/dahl/other grains. All the spices! Even a massive gallon or more sized jar of tumeric. Garam masala spices are packaged and ready for you to grind at home and enjoy the smell of the freshly crushed spice mix. Teas galore and treats such as Frooti drinks like in my photo. Such a treat to enjoy this restaurant and meet the owners. They were so gracious when my kids were acting awful running all around. read more

We've been meaning to try the food here and finally today we had the Butter Chicken, Garlic Naan, Samosas, and Curry Chicken. To start my eyes were bigger than my stomach and it didn't look like we ordered enough for 4 people but we were all satisfied with this portion. Everything was fresh and delicious. We ordered at the market and our wait was only 20 minutes. We also chose to have Mild spicy dishes. Again it was delicious. The Butter chicken was definitely mild. The best Indian food we have had in the extended Bay Area! So, the ambience is terrible as in it is inside a grocery store with limited seating. But oh boy, everything that they serve is just super super yum. Paranthas with butter, extra large serving of sweet lassi and tasty and hot tea (not the one that some make in the morning and keep serving from a flask), chhole bhautre, naans, paneer dish. Okay. I have tried giving this restaurant many chances. Before quarantine, I never saw this restaurant on ubereats, so as soon as I saw it on ubereats, I was so excited to order Indian food in madera FINALLY! The first time I order in the beginning of quarantine, the food was amazing, but a week later, I ordered again and it was vile and gross.It tasted like it's been in the fridge for Over weeks! But you know what, I gave them an excuse, they're having a hard time. Businesses are not doing so good. I gave them another chance..... after three weeks, it tasted even worse as if it's been in the fridge forever. I literally took a bite and threw the rest away and swore I won't order until the stay at home order were lifted. As soon as it did, I ordered today chicken Marsala with rice and some samosas, the samosa were great. Tasted a little old but it was still good. The chicken Marsala was flavorful but the chicken itself was nauseating. It was like the chicken was bought two months ago and was sitting in the freezer uncovered and then it was taken out to be cooked. It was so gross. I just ate the soup portion of it with the rice and the samosas. My advice to this restaurant is this: this is your chance to do something great. There is not many Indian restaurants in madera. I understand you might have to spend a little more money to get your products FRESH but it's worth it! Bring in great quality and fresh food and you will see how people will come back! I'm not the type to bring down people, but I'm tired of wasting money on poor Indian food. I love the food but this restaurant is traumatizing me to the point of hating it. Please! Please! Bring in fresh and great quality ingredients! I want to be loyal to this restaurant but if a new Indian restaurant opens up and it tasted more fresh and delicious, I will go to the new restaurant. The Butter Chicken is creamy and the chicken is juicy. The garlic naan could be a meal itself. It is perfect. The tandoori isn't warm until about noon so a late lunch/ dinner for tandoori items is the best bet. read more
