This place has potential to be amazing, but unfortunately I can't give it more than 3 stars. I…read morethink because Paris doesn't really have many doughnut shops, the competition is relatively low. That probably explains the high price. And because the shop space is limited, they might not be able to make doughnuts continuously, which is why they run out. But if you go early and don't expect American doughnut shop standard, you will likely enjoy! Pros: The flavor options are fun enough. The doughnuts taste good. The chocolate glaze on the Puffed Rice doughnut was super dark and added an interestingly sweet bitterness to the overall flavor. Cons: Each doughnut is really expensive. The flavors could be more impressive. They run out by day's end so your selection is limited as the day goes on. I assume they don't bake the doughnuts periodically throughout the day, so if you get yours towards the end of business hours, they'll have been sitting there for a while and may be kind of dry.

Pros: -Amazing donuts! -Water closet/restroom -~6 different flavors -Nice staff Cons: -Slightly expensive for donuts Plain Glazed Donut (3.10 euro) Plain glazed yeast donut. The dough was fairly dense without being heavy, and the glaze was thick and not overly sweet. Though I typically prefer light and fluffy donuts, I really enjoyed this one, and would certainly come back again for it!

THE FOOD ------------------…read more+ THEEEEEE gold standard for macarons in Paris ... or anywhere for that matter. + Macarons here are a little crisp, a little pillowy softness and a whollllllle bunch of flavor. - It cost a pretty penny (about 3 Euros for 1 piece), but you won't regret it for a second when you bite into one of these addictively delicious treats. THE SERVICE ----------------------- + All class, top notch white glove service - literally - they handle the macarons with much care like it were gold! THE SURROUNDINGS ------------------------------------ + Located in the heart of the Champs-Élysées on Rue Lincoln, so, YES, it is busy like rush hour outside ... and inside. + There are 2 sides to this massive flagship location - you can either make a purchase of macarons at their store OR dine/sit down in their tea house. Both have lines to wait on, but making a purchase only takes about 10 minutes on a weekend, while dining in looks like an unimaginable wait! + The store to make a macaron purchase at has 3 tables to sit around to enjoy your purchase of delicious macarons. You MUST catch someone about to leave (like we did) in order to snag a table. RANDOM OBSERVATIONS ------------------------------------------- = Expect waits on a weekend afternoon, especially to sit down in the tea room. If you just make a store purchase, it's only about a 10 minute wait ... and you'll be thanking your legs for that. = It's a tourist destination in itself, so expect LOTS of people taking photos of this location. CONCLUSION ----------------------- = Yes, I'm from the tri-state area and they've had a Laduree in NYC since 2011, but there's alwayyyyys something special about going to one of the originals and this spot is no different.

The food it's so good and all of the bakery items definitely delight. Their Fois Gras is amazing and I love to bring it home and have it to remember my trip and all the yummy flavors. Last night I came by on my way to dinner. I didn't have enough time to do gift shopping so I'll be heading back there for some treats today. Can't wait!

My first memories of Fauchon weren't of the shop with all the lovely pastries, but of the insane…read moregift baskets my dad would receive from either his employer or colleagues around the holidays in the 90s. I wanted nothing to do with the jars of foie gras or champagne, but I used one of the trunks to store craft supplies. 25+ years later and it still stores craft supplies. So, of course on my last trip back to Paris I had to finally stop back in as an adult who can appreciate things that little kid me would have just said "oh, neat" about. Spoiler alert: I still don't want anything to do with foie gras or champagne. This visit coincided with a belated birthday adventure after having a mini meltdown about getting old and missing home. Fauchon is the quintessential picture of Parisian chic. The store is elegantly simple, with clean lines and bold color. The cases have a huge variety of pastries and indulgent treats. And what they have to offer is so beautiful and so meticulous that you start to wonder how the tart or éclair that caught your eye isn't unaffordable. Yes, it's pricy for pastries in France when you consider Carrefour sells éclairs for like one Euro (and that cheap ass éclair is somehow better than 99% of éclairs in the US). When you compare it to the "gourmet" pastry scene in the US the prices aren't insane though. Would I make this my regular stop for pastries? No, but for special occasions or if you're visiting and want a beautiful experience this is absolutely worth the small indulgence. We selected an éclair with some bold graphics printed on it, two different macarons, a lemon tart (tarte aux citron), a chocolate moussey cakey piece of art, a slice of pâté en croûte, and some hot teas. Because of the artistic elements it was a less traditional texture for the éclair but the flavor was delicate and pleasant. The macarons were perfect, which I'm sure they always will be, and it's probably one of the reasons they do well as an edible souvenir. P.S. Americans, do NOT call them macaroons, those are completely different. The tart was the right amount of sour and sweet with great texture. I opted out of the chocolate and the pâté but included them in the photos so you can be jealous. The commentary on those can be summarized with, "OMG amazing." Oh, Paris, tu me manques. Je dois retourner tout de suite!

I dream of that cookie and have tried to recreate it at home in Los Angeles. (Only tried to make it once so far and it wasn't bad but it wasn't Le Petrin's cookie.). I just looked up where I got this by looking at my credit card charge--that is how much I loved this super delicious treat. We actually have some very good French-inspired bakers near where I live (see Petit Grain Boulangerie in Santa Monica, CA or Artisanal Goods by CAR in Pasadena, CA as great examples of other baked goods that I dream about). I whipped out Yelp and noticed that I had Happy Caffe bookmarked. I'm not sure how it landed in my collection, but the reviews were excellent thought it would be a good option for lunch - so off we went. Happy sits right on the street - it's a super small space with barely any room inside and several tables outside on the sidewalk. They did a good job making room for us - I have to say they mastered the art of optimizing what little space they have but even still be prepared for a tight fit. The menu has a selection of baked good, crepes, and sandwiches. We asked the employee working behind the counter what they recommended and he suggested the kebab panini as he sells many of them every day. We decided to each get one, which was served promptly. The sandwich wasn't my favorite - the chicken seemed a little off, and it wasn't that tasty. I wouldn't say it was awful, but I also wouldn't order it again. Looking back, perhaps I ordered the wrong thing (despite it being recommended to me). I'm puzzled by all these 5-star reviews - maybe the crepes are better? Two stars for the friendly and attentive service, but I would bypass this spot next time I'm in Paris.

The first thing I did was walk from Opera area to No Glu for lunch/goodies. It is tucked away on a busy side street, very unassuming. The place is not big, I would not go here with a large group. I was fortunate someone left as I was walking in. The pastries are in the front window, with no covers on them when you walk in the door. There is a small cash register you order at and you can pay later if you sit and eat. I ordered the baguette with ham and elemental cheese-wow! It has been so long since I have had anything like that, 16 years or so to be exact, how is not American bakery able to make this? I ended up eating the entire baguette even thought I wanted to save some. It came with a small side salad, I also ordered a matcha with no sweetner, it was fine-nothing to write home about. For my next few days at the office, knowing I would not make it back, I got the pistachio roll, an apple turnover thing and some other apple pastry, all were delicious! They look burnt but do not taste burnt. I hope I get to make another trip back for work, this will be one of my first stops and I will certainly buy more.
