He got under the truck to examine due to a small puddle of oil. He confirmed it was clearly not a "loose oil drain bolt" and stated it was obvious to anyone the leak was a bigger issue; possibly to do with the oil pan due to the amount of oil throughout the undercarriage. They did state the issue would be looked into and fixed prior to taking ownership of the truck but were clear it couldn't be looked at or addressed the "same day" as the mechanic location down the street had just shut down for the day and everyone had left. So this claim that it was fixed the same day is highly suspect and further leads me to believe this is a dishonest business. Either they lied about being able to look at it while I was there or they are lying about fixing the issue the same day. Being we are confident it wasn't a drain plug issue, you the reader of this, can do the math. As I stated, due to the issues I did start with a very low out the door offer of $30k, which the owner points out but does not mention the fact they came back stating the full price plus all costs...I countered with an offer of $35k out the door and was brushed off. At that point I asked if they had any intention on negotiating the price wherein I was told what I outlined in my original review. All of this aside, there is no excuse, and not shockingly no apology, for running my credit prior to any negotiations taking place. I hope this review saves at least one other person from making the mistake of doing business at this location.

I was hesitant on buying a used car from a small dealership because of the bad fame they all carry. 1 year ago I purchased a 2001 dodge ram 1500 with 175,000 miles. I wanted the truck for work specifically. The first week i had it, it was overheating. I called the dealership and without hesitation they took the truck inn, inspected it and fixed the issue. So far ive had no issues with it, truck runs as it should and i could honestly say i have no regrets making business with these people.

There was a very specific truck we were looking for: A 2017 Chevy Silverado 1500 Crew Cab in dark grey. We live in Long Beach and I made the drive out to Southgate check out the truck. It looked to be in good shape for this year and was pretty clean overall. I worked with K and Jay on the purchase. They seemed to be very straightforward, did not play games. They worked with me on the pricing and generally did not try to upsell me on anything. The process to purchase the truck was pretty fast. The interest rates right now aren't great, but we plan to refinance soon for a lower rate. We left the dealership happy. Now here's the trouble.... We've had the truck just one week and it won't start. It's dead on the street. When I was at the dealership checking out the truck, they did not have the key fob for the truck, which they explained was typical since used cars are often repo's. When I went to open the truck door when checking it out, the alarm went off. This, they said would be fixed by having a key fob made. They said that WE had to pay the $220 for two key fobs for the car. This was odd, I've never heard of a dealership making someone pay hundreds of dollars for the key to the car they just bought. However, because they did cut us slack on the pricing, I said fine. The trouble started about 4 days after purchase. The car alarm started going off each night around 2am and 3am. Then, less than a week after purchasing the truck, it will no longer start. We are getting an error message that there is an issue with the theft-deterrent system. We called the dealership and they told us to connect with the locksmith who made the key fobs. He came out and said it's not an issue with the key fob, that it's an issue with the aftermarket alarm system placed on the vehicle. The day we had the locksmith come out, it was street sweeping day and we got a $70 fine for the truck being on the street, which just added insult to injury. We called the dealership again and they said they would google what could be going wrong. At this point, we don't feel confident with that and we now have to pay to have the truck towed to GM to get to the bottom of the issue. We're pretty bummed about the whole experience and wish we got a working truck out of the deal, understandably.

My story began when searching for a 2023 Dodge Charger SXT. Like many, I hit Auto Trader, Edmonds, Kelly Blue Book and Car Gurus. And then "CarFax", whose "AI" probably tracked me, sent me an email with a 2023 Charger SXT at Upgrade Auto Sale. It's important to let the reader know I reached out to a handful of other dealerships that had similar vehicles. I reached out to both national and privately owned dealerships, whose names I will not share. Suffice it to say, that only Upgrade Auto Sale warmly and safely welcomed my contact. The others all the did the same "hurry up, giddy up". Their approach and demeanor turned me off. It is important for me as a potential buyer, to feel "safe" and not "pushed" by a seller. Hands down, the very first time I connected with Wendy, and then Finance Manager Naji, they welcomed my inquiry about the car I was interested in. They both made me feel like I was not only their only customer, but made me feel like I was part of their family. Together we negotiated a deal on the car, and I accepted their proposal. In fact, to me, it was a deal almost too good to say no to. I quickly gave credit card data to secure a "non-refundable" deposit, to hold the car. Since I live in Central California, five hours away from Southgate, we scheduled my bringing my trade in to complete the deal in two days. After the call, I ran and re-ran the numbers, telling myself I needed to "sleep on it". After a restless night, stressed out, I finally realized I was making a BIG mistake, that the cash I would need to close the deal would be important for me to have, when my house for sale sells. I realized that the amount of cash that would be needed to buy the car we had negotiated, would be necessary for me to buy my next house in the south bay. I reached out to both Wendy and Naji, explained my needing to "back out of the deal". Naji's compassion was over whelming, unexpected and deeply appreciated. He even told me he would refund half of the "non-refundable" deposit, which I didn't expect. He said that my complete satisfaction was more important to him than a car deal, and in fact did refund half the deposit immediately. In all of my years buying personal cars, this outcome, is something I would never expect from a car dealer. Naji's empathetic response made me feel like I was important to him; like I was a part of his family. Who wouldn't want to do business with Naji and Wendy. Dear reader, I hope my story resonates.
