Pulp - short mountain açaí bowl

Meh. Basically a Smoothie in a bowl (açaí bender with other things) no toppings except for granola. They charge a dollar add almond butter and other toppings.

I love the inside atmosphere. It is a bicycle shop with a cute acai bowl stand inside. Atmosphere is super fun and chill. The Braley's acai bowl (pic attached) is so good. Peanut butter is added. Also got a smoothie of the week ... tried and true. Very refreshing!

I LOVE this place! I had been wanting to try açaí bowls for awhile but hadn't had a chance. While visiting Harrisonburg, I had someone recommended it to me. I'm so glad I stoped by! The food area is attached to a bike shop which is neat. They have 4 or 5 tables inside and then additional seating on the outdoor patio. It was a nice day so we sat outside. They have make your own açaí bowls, a menu of açaí ideas, and smoothies available. I liked this shop so much I returned the next day for more! Both days I had DIY açaí bowls. The first day I got a blueberry/raspberry base with almond milk, topped with almond butter, dark chocolate chips, and fresh strawberries. The second day I got a blueberry/raspberry base with almond milk, topped with almond butter, hemp granola, and fresh banana. Both were so fresh and delicious!! I can't wait to go back!

I wish they had more locations because it's such a healthy and yummy açaí bowl/ smoothie place! You can make your own base and toppings and they also have lots of options for smoothies and bowls you can modify. It's a bit overpriced but it's the perfect refreshing snack/meal. It also takes a long time to prepare the food, I always end up waiting at least 15 minutes even if there's no line, so just be aware if you're in a hurry. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor area is really cute and has covering and a few tables. Pulp is located in a bike store so it's different from most places I've been to but it makes it a pretty fun experience! Super convenient parking around the building.

Perfect place to treat yourself and not feel like you're consuming too much sugar! The place is part of Shenandoah Bicycle, so it doesn't have much seating. However, you can definitely get the bowls to-go. I'm a fan of the Short Mountain Acai Bowl, which always hits the spot. You can also make your own if you'd like.

Such a cool place! There's a dog that just kind of chills around the shop. It is mainly a bike shop though, with a small portion being Pulp. Workers were really nice! I got the Braley's and replaced the honey with coconut flakes. It was really delicious and also freezing. It doesn't look like a lot but it's a lot to actually eat. Definitely check it out!

The "smoothie" which came in a cup and was eaten like ice cream was great! I went here thinking I could get a smoothie that I could drink, well that wasn't the case. I understand the healthy snack it is doesn't want to be associated with it's fatty brother, ice cream, but come on!

This place is inside the Shenandoah Bicycle Company downtown in Harrisonburg. Came here on a Wednesday afternoon with some friends to take a study break. We have been wanting to try out this place for their Acai Bowls because some friends have talked about this place a few times. One of my friends and I shared a bowl together. We couldn't decide which one to get so we decided to build our own bowl. I think we blended the peach and banana together and got granola & coconut chips for our toppings. It came out in a wooden bowl with a wooden spoon which was cute and very aesthetic. The Acai bowl itself I would say is pretty good, but my friend said that she has had better elsewhere. I am new to Acai Bowls so not so sure if it is this kind of price everywhere but it was like $9.50 for that bowl. I am new to this Acai Bowl thing but I don't know if I would pay that much for an Acai Bowl. I did enjoy this quick study break and the workers were very friendly and patient with us being our first time there.

It is a kiosk inside of a bike shop in downtown Harrisonburg. In general, I love acai bowls. I enjoy them even more before or after a hike. Pulp has one of the best acai bowls I have tasted anywhere. The acai was perfectly chilled so the texture and thickness was like a sorbet. The granola was top notch with a great crunch. From my experience, a delicious honey can really put an acai bowl over the top. For this reason, I ordered the "Braley's" because it was the bowl with honey. It did not disappoint and the honey was amazing. As a note, all the fruit is blended into the acai. The only improvement point, which would only be for aesthetic purposes, is to also chop up and arrange fruit at the top of the bowl. However, the taste is perfect as is. The price is also great for the amount of food you are getting. I would not make it prettier if it meant increasing the price. Finally, I also enjoy the clear cups for takeout. I like seeing everything in the bowl through the cup. Of course, it also makes the acai bowl more photogenic. If you are visiting Harrisonburg or planning a trip to Shenandoah National Park and looking for recommendations, feel free to message me for my itinerary. You can also find the electronic copy through the link my profile.

A great hidden spot for Asian snack food and sweet aciai bowls! Delicious! I especially loved the soy eggs with pickled veggies and rice!

Only açaí place in Harrisonburg..barely get what you pay for. If you get any of the $1 toppings they give you $0.50 worth.

Their acai bowls are arguably the single best thing to eat in Harrisonburg. Even my six year old agrees.

I came with a particular need to get something that was both flavorful but not overly traumatizing for an ailing stomach. A miso ramen fit the bill nicely. While Japanese, the menu is vegetarian-friendly and offers ample customization. My ramen was tasty, but I did feel a bit shorted by getting only one marinated tofu sheet to finish off at the end. I needed some sushi to feel full, and fortunately, their inari with a seaweed salad filling were delicious, arguably more so than the ramen. A tea from their boba menu delivered some nice chia seeds and strong flavor, albeit with an aftertaste. I wouldn't say that my bar for ramen was reset, but as a regular driver along I-81, I felt good about having made this stop and wouldn't mind repeating it.

I guess I should've known better, but the make your own drink was mediocre because the guava option was based off a not-so-yummy juice. So next I ordered a drink off their menu and it was just alright. Honestly, I'd just skip out on drinks next time, but it was New Year's Eve so.. I did try to ask our server for drink reccs but she was 20.. So, we really enjoyed our ramens. Even the veggie ramen that I ordered, with a clear broth, was quite tasty - I've had clear broth options that were less flavorful. We also ordered a few additional appetizers. We shared some bao buns which were excellent, my partner ordered some meat skewers and I ordered a salmon nori taco. All in all, a great little shop. We considered coming back later on our trip but decided to explore elsewhere.

However, in the years since the pandemic, I can't help but feel like the quality of the food's gone down. I'm not sure if the recipe's changed or if they're using different ingredients - but it's just not that good anymore. I recently got the chicken hibachi for their lunch special and immediately, one of the things I first noticed was just how rubbery the chicken pieces were. They also tasted off and not even the yum yum sauce (which I'm pretty sure is different from the one they used to have) could save the taste. They also have a different mushroom soup now that has a lot more spice in it and the taste doesn't match with how it used to be. That being said, I will say that my wife has always enjoyed their sushi here and has never had a complaint on that. Also - the staff here have always been super kind and attentive. We've never had a single issue with the folks that work here. I can't speak of the atmosphere or state of the restaurant since I haven't dined here since 2013. Osaka's is also another staple of Culpeper and frankly - tastes better than Dragon Chef in my opinion. I just wish my recent experiences were as good as my old ones. If nothing else, the staff here are amazing and their sushi is worth coming back here for again and again. Best pricing for their lunch specials!
