Really great park. Lots of things to do and tickets for rides are so cheap ($1). There's a really great train ride around the park, a carousel and paddle boats. There's also an area for parties and cookouts. The play area for kids is nice and has a padded ground, instead of being just concrete. Around the holidays, they really decorate it cute for Holiday Express, although that can get super crowded, so make sure you get tickets in advance. They'll had games in a tent, while you wait for your turn with Santa. read more

Pullen Park is fabulous! There's a reason why it's always packed. People just seem in a better mood when they're at Pullen Park. They smile and nod at you while strolling around. The little lake is really cute, the carousel is nostalgic. It's an easy stroll. They pretty much have everything - a regular park with shelters for having some food or a little train if you have children. They also have a restaurant area for food and drinks. I've been to Pullen Park many times. It's a great place to go for a little day trip or to take an out-of-town guest. They have a hand-carved wooden Dentzel carousel that dates to 1911 and a Wurlitzer organ. They also have a train that takes you around the park and paddle boats on the lake. They serve Locopops and homemade muscadine lemonade which is very tasty, especially on a hot day like today! read more

I wish I had a place like this to go to when I was little, I LOVE this park. It is always crowded, and there are always kids EVERYWHERE, but that doesn't bother me here because I feel like a kid myself when I come. I know it's newly renovated, but I never saw it before the renovations so I can't really comment on how much better it looks than before, but I can say that I have never been so impressed with a park before. When you walk in you see the ticket counter where you can buy tickets to ride the train, the carousel, and the paddle boats. There is a beautiful cafe that offers an extensive menu, and nice, clean bathrooms. There is a beautiful pavilion that houses the carousel and the horses are all new and fresh. As a child, I would have gone crazy over this place! Past the entrance off to the right is where the playground is located, and that place is always bombarded with screaming children. The train is located near the playground and takes you around a nice little tour of the park for only $1. There is a path that wraps around the lake for those who wish to take a leisurely stroll. I go to Pullen Park on Wednesdays to participate in the Raleigh Hoop Jam Drum Circle. If you haven't heard of it or attended one before, I would recommend checking it out. There are people everywhere doing hula hooping, dancing, and of course, playing the drums. I have literally seen people of all ages, everyone is welcome, and Pullen Park is a gracious host. It is located up at the gazebos. I can say that I am happy that some of my tax dollars went to renovating Pullen Park. This is one of the few instances where I can actually see my money being put to good use and people are really enjoying it. Check it out! So glad this park re-opened and the wait was worth it. The new layout is so nice and there is so much for the kids to do. My kids love the carousel, the boats, the train, and the play structures. The train ride is a good length and goes around the park and is a huge hit with the kids. he carousel is really nice and the kids love to go on the carousel. The bathrooms are now convenient to the playgrounds with two options, one near open field/food area and one near the carousels. There are great walking trails around the park. We haven't tried the paddle boats since the re-opening, but they seem to be a big hit. The food options are great, they have local food options made with locally sourced food, healthy options, and traditional options like popcorn. They even have locopops which we love. My kids ask all the time to return to the choo choo train park. Highly recommend a trip here. The only down side is it gets crowded and the parking lots gets full so sometimes you have to park far away. But it is still worth it. read more

If you are looking for the best park for your kiddo, this is the one! They have SO much to do and it is set up so well. They have food and snacks to buy, $1 tickets to ride the train around the park and the carousel and so much more. There are two playgrounds- one for older kiddos and one for younger ones and lots of fun sand play. There are benches everywhere and CLEAN bathrooms. This park is so clean! Walk over to the pond and you can watch the geese and the ducks or take a walk across the bridge. This is a beautiful and gorgeous park. Went to a preview of the renovated park today. Wow, I love the improvements. This park is a great place for kids. The carousel is now housed in a building. The boats have gotten a new paint job, the train looks great and rides just as well. The ticket area, concession area, and restrooms have been renovated. I didn't really get a chance to check out the concessions due to the kids pulling me to merry go round, but it seems like they will offer fresh local foods. I did see a popcorn popper in there. All of the playground equipment is new. There is an infant area with some really nice swings and there was a tire swing too. By the trains and the boats there is a school age playground with a huge red net climbing tower that my 8 year loved. A big slide set. Across the way there is a preschool area with smaller slides, a teeter totter, and a few swings. There is a water and sand area. It looks like they might have some sprinklers or fountains that kids can play in during the summer. There is a big sand area where kids can play. Best part is that there is a lot of shade coverings too. It was always sweltering in that play area during the summer so it looks like you will be able to cool off a little. Plenty of picnic areas too. read more

Pullen Park is such a wonderful little spot to enjoy a sunny afternoon in Raleigh! Not your average greenspace-picnic-playground-trails type of park - Pullen is a vibrant place full of fun activities for all. Take a spin on the restored 1900's era carousel, enjoy the breeze on the miniature train that circles the park, or make some lazy circles in the pond on your pedal boat! The little ones will love to chime the bells on the kiddie boat ride. Pullen was just recently restored and now offers a lovely little snack shack that features fresh, local fare. Enjoy sandwiches, salads and grilled items. We were thrilled to find out that they serve Locopops! And delicious natural sodas - the cola tastes just like those little gummy cola bottles we used to get as kids. Yum! They also added a neat sand and water play area. Bring a book cause your kids will no doubt spend hours making sand castles. There are plenty of swings and jungle gyms to amuse them as well. The tickets for the amusements are cheap! Only $1 each (pedal boats are more expensive.) Pullen also offers picnic shelters and an amphitheater. In December, they feature a Holiday Wonderland! (Tickets currently running $8 pp.) Parking can be a challenge and you may find yourself in an overflow lot at the Gov. Morehead or Dorthea Dix soccer fields, depending on the day you visit. Wow! We visited here while visiting my husband's brother and his family. We wanted an outing that was good for his daughters (ages 7 and 9) and for adults. We couldn't have been more pleased. We enjoyed the pedal boats, train ride, and carousel. Extremely reasonable at $1 per ride. We also had a great picnic by the pond and loved interacting with the park's wildlife. We walked around and enjoyed the scenery, played around on the green space, and watched the kids go wild on the play structures. Another observation I had was that it was a very multicultural park with people from lots of backgrounds. I highly recommend this park for any park lovers! read more

I have been going to Pullen Park for almost 20-years. It has recently been updated. The playground is new with all kinds of fun equipment for a variety of ages. Different parts of the playground are for certain ages which is nice. Pullen Park has great rides----an antique train & carousel---kiddie boats too. During warmer months, there are also paddle boats. There are plenty of places to picnic. The park can get crowded and busy on the weekends when the weather is nice. read more

What an incredible park for the little ones! We had to catch a flight so we were limited on time but we were still able to ride the train, carousel, and our daughter sat in a kiddie boat for a few minutes until deciding to get off. Everything is easily accessible with restrooms located in the center of the park. There is a playground area and paved walking paths. Rides are 1 ticket ($1) each! My only regret is that I wish we were able to stay longer and enjoy all that the park has to offer. read more

Once in a great while I feel the irrepressible urge to swing and for the quick gratification of that, Pullen Park has my adoration. Most other parks have those baby swings with the small seats that would castrate me were I to try to use them. Theres also a boathouse to rent paddle boats if you want to cruise around the small lake though in truth, if you wanted to do that I'd recommend one of the bigger lakes in the area. This place is an oasis, a small patch of tranquil amidst the hustle and bustle of NCSU and downtown Raleigh. It serves as a quick fix for peaceful natural splendor if you're in the area. read more

This is a really lovely park, especially if you have young children. I've brought my nephew here twice when he was in town. He loves the playgrounds but especially the train ride and carousel. The park isn't quite as exciting as an adult. My husband and I came once so he could hunt Pokemon, which is not my thing. He found lots of Pokemon but I was a bit bored. However, the park is beautiful and well maintained. It gets super crowded when the weather is nice and parking can be a challenge. The concession stands are also pretty good quality, including some vegan/vegetarian friendly options. All in all I highly recommend it if you have kids under the age of 8 or so. read more

Visited on a perfect weather weekday in November with two little boys ages 1 and 2. They loved the train ride and carousel, which are reasonably priced at $1 per ride. The playground areas were quite crowded when there was a day care group there, but as soon as they were gone it wasn't bad at all. My only complaint was that when we boarded the carousel we just sat there for a good 10 minutes while I guess the operators were waiting for more riders to come. I thought that was a cheap thing to do. I paid the fee to ride and I expect to ride when you let us on. read more

Been in the area for 2.5 years and on budgeting weekends I always look for low cost things to do. Well this is it! $1 rides to free swings and slides!!
