It's served sizzling in a clay dish, a dish I actually first knew about from Mark Wiens, and it lives up to the hype. The sauce, perfect for dipping bread, was incredible, rich and full of flavor. This is clearly their famous signature dish, and it's easy to see why. A must-try in Madrid.

My wife and I sat in the back. It wasn't full, thankfully. It's a nice old restaurant that reeks with charm and history. The servers were real friendly. It had outdoor seating, but we stayed in the back to relax. We had 3 dishes., Gambas Al ajillo, Tortilla Español, a small one and Orejas (pig ears) à la plancha. They were all so good, perfectly seasoned and cooked well. The tortilla was creamy. The Gambas were garlicky...used my bread to sponge in the olive oil infused with garlic. The Orejas was tender and crispy at the same time. Food is sublime and service, first rate!

I especially enjoyed the tomato salad, the chorizo, olives, and bread. The grilled octopus could have used more flavor other than just olive oil and the chocolate cake slice was dry.

The main course was sliced fish absolutely loaded with the tiniest splinter bones imaginable, so be careful. It was incredibly bland and flavorless, served with cold potatoes and peas. Tourist trap? It certainly felt like one. Don't mean to be rude but have to be honest. Great service and decent prices gets then 2 stars! So far, our experience with Madrid food has been a lot of stale bread and mayonnaise on just about everything. Hopefully today changes my mind.

Not far from the city center full of tourist places, we found this family run gem. There was no…read morewait at 3pm (they close at 4pm for lunch), but there were still lots of people inside this small space. Their focus is seafood, and the menu is on a board, all in Spanish, which I loved. They do also have some picture menu cards with English on the back to help you navigate the choices. First, they start you with the house tortilla (omelette). They have lots of very reasonably priced wines, many of which are by the glass (a separate board menu). For food, we needed something lighter before a big dinner, so we went with: - Zamburinas: scallops served in the shell with a lemon butter sauce - Navajas à la plancha: local razor clams - Gambas al ajillo: super tender in a garlic butter sauce - Alcachofa à la plancha: prepared artichoke with a great tomato sauce Everything was cooked just right, highlighting the natural, fresh seafood flavors. They also coursed things out nicely, and staff were really friendly. I would want to come back for their seafood stews (2 portion minimums) the next time when we have more stomach space!

After coming back, we saw a tapas tour coming in. They came there for the croquettes and the vermut. We ordered the boletos, sweetbreads, pulpo, and, of course, the callos. The server tried to help us out and said those should be enough since there was just 2 of us dining. They give you free iberico with cheese and crispy pork belly for appetizers. Every dish was a hit! Boletos with egg and truffle felt very rustic, savory, delicious. Truffle was not overpowering, mushrooms were fresh. Sweetbreads was our favorite out of the meal. It was like a step down from actual foie gras. Goes well with beer and wine. The galician pulpo was the best one we had on our trip, and we had 3 of them beforehand. And lastly the callos. At this point we've already hit a wall with all the food we had, servings were a good size per dish. It was rich, decadent, and perfectly cooked. It doesn't have the offal aftertaste you get from tripa that's ill prepared. We had multiple beers and wines throughout the meal. The service was personally phenomenal. They checked on us constantly and made sure the food was as we expected. We're going back for lunch tomorrow

We walked in the restaurant and checked out the menu. One of the managers came up to us and told us that unfortunately in this part of the restaurant the wait was going to be long. He told us that there was another part of the restaurant around the corner. The manager personally walked us there and got us a table. Our servers brought out bread and showed us the menu and wine list. One of my friends decided to order a bottle of wine which three of my friends shared. The menu was all in Spanish, but the staff helped us with the words that we did not know and we ordered. I decided to order the spicy beef, peppers, potatoes, and fried egg. Everything flowed together very well and had just the right amount of spice. It was a little greasy, so I did not eat a lot of it as I was not super hungry and did not want any stomach problems later--smile. The staff brought out dessert for my friends, which was carrot cake and flan that looked so amazing! Our bill was brought out and we all noticied that there was a 6 euro charge for our bread. Bread in Spain is super inexpensive, so why they would charge us 6 euros for five small pieces of hard bread I do not know. Other than that our food was delicious and the service was great as well!!
