I spied this place from the road after a hot run and hike and was more than ready for a cold one and a brat. Apparently used to be called Puck's Pub, but is now called Bratski's Dive Bar, refreshing to see an option like this in this neighborhood. As the name implies, there is nothing fancy here, just friendly service and a place to hang. My wife and I split the cheddar brat with fries and washed it down with a couple of $4 Negra Modelos. What can I say that's good. Oh yeah, the Bavarian pretzel on the appetizer menu was huge and delicious, which is misleading to the rest of their food, which was terrible. We got their burgers. They. Were. Terrible. The patties were grayish, edges were mushy, bun was wet somehow, and everything was overshadowed by the flavor of the lettuce (I kid you not). The burgers, cheese, pickles, and bun were flavorless. The burgers come with your choice of chips or tater tots. Neither is a good choice, but the chips are a better choice. We think they just opened up a snack bag of Lay's plain potato chips, however they were far better than the tots. Why? Because the tots were undercooked and total mush (inedible). They did make a nice gesture by bringing over 5 baked cookies and a slice if cake because they thought it took too long to bring out our burgers. We weren't complaining at all. It was a nice gesture, but we were hesitant as the food we just had was so terrible. Unfortunately, these weren't much better. The cookies were falling apart and the cake was not good. We felt bad as the only server in this large place was also the bartender and manager. It was a fairly busy Thursday night. It's a pub with an addition on its side with a walk through to the frozen yogurt shop next door. There are three or four entrances being monitored by one person (see above), so it's kind of hectic. If you need a place to watch hockey, get a drink, and eat a very large pretzel, Puck's Pub is your temple. However, I'd suggest visiting The Silo around the corner or Tacos El Norte in the house-looking building in the parking lot. read more

I'm trying to be nice when I write this but we had a truly terrible dining experience at Pucks Pub last night... I'll list all the issues out but it was bad and I don't think I could ever return - floor was filthy - out of tater tot's and gave us stale chips without a heads up. When I asked for tots, was told they are out - brought us wrong burger - correct burgers were almost inedible they were so salty - bill was incorrect and had to be corrected - we each got a different menu - server couldn't describe what kind of bread one of the sandwiches was served on Don't walk away from this place, turn around and RUN. Puck's is an okay sports bar that is located within the Lake Bluff neighborhood. The staff is nice when you walk in. The food is okay, but the menu doesn't offer anything significant. The outdoor patio seating was decent. The issue is it's right next to a busy road, being consumed by rushing traffic. It has a pool table and bag set, which can been entertaining. If you're looking for a place to get a drink and don't care particularly about the atmosphere, this place will work. read more

Clean, quiet, and a great spot for watching games. The drinks were colder, food hotter, and service faster than all of the neighboring chains. I highly recommend the onion rings! Wish they had: cole slaw or a veggie side. I'm getting too close to #270 for any more carbs. read more

My family and I went here Friday night for dinner. The service was fantastic. It is extremely difficult to find a server/bartender who is great with kids. We had Meg as our server/bartender tonight and she was amazing! She clearly loves what she is doing. Our kids are begging to go back! While juggling multiple other tables she never failed to make sure our drinks were full and we were happy. She also recommended the big pretzel which was huge and delicious. I really wanted to love this place. The theme and name are cash but the food sucks. My beer was served in a warm glass. Wtf. I asked for a fried chicken sandwich and I got an over cooked dry breast that my dog would have had trouble chewing. Fries were ok but I was starving at that point so idk. Below average talent and careless food prep killed any chance of me ever returning. The only positives I could see were the patio seating and hockey motifs. Ordered Takeout on 4/6/24. Luckily, I checked my order when picking up. I ordered 28 piece bone-in Chicken Wings and Cheesy Fries. Instead I got boneless wings and NO fries. After waiting 15 minutes I received PLAIN fries, no cheese and no onions or bacon. Plain fries are $6.00, Cheesy Fries are $12.00. After another 15 minute wait, my Cheesy Fries finally arrived. The bar maid had obvious lack of attention to detail and was unapologetic. She could screw up a one car funeral. read more

The five of us went and had a full range of veal brat, beer brat, potato pierogi, Reuben pierogi's, cheese curds, pretzel, and buffalo wings along with several beers. Puck's is a great go-to sports pub for wings and sandwiches. There are several screens to watch a variety of games at any time, and a great patio to enjoy during warmer weather. Seven people in the entire bar. Took 20 minutes for server to get to us. Service so bad it is offensive.

Pucks pub used to be good when they had their own location. Now that they're inside of Donatis....not so much. Went in at 8 something, wasn't greeted by either of the two girls behind the bar, was handed a food menu and was told the other girl would take our drink order. When I looked at the girl who was supposed to be taking our order, she was talking on her cellphone. Finally came over. I ordered a certain beer that I saw in the cooler...she said they didn't have those. That's ok, maybe they just restocked and she wasn't aware. Even though my beer tasted old. my bf ordered a beer on the draft menu, said they were out of that beer. Also understandable. She comes back, takes our food order, we both order boneless wings. I didn't see fries on the menu but thought I'd ask, they didn't have them. Saw tater tots on the menu so I asked for those, DONT HAVE THEM. So I stuck with only wings. 5 minutes go by after we order, the cook comes out and calls the bartender back. Several minutes later she comes back out to the bar and tells us they don't have wings :) the impression we got was they were trying to hurry and close and get out of there. Online Puck's still says it's open late but I guess we should've checked donatis hours as they close at 9:30. Either way they had time, or maybe they just shouldn't have bothered handing us a food menu at all. We finish our one drink and leave to try out Duffers in lake forest which I believe is owned by the same people as Puck's. We get to Duffers and what do you know, the bartender from Puck's walks in and gets behind the bar. Food may still be good (wouldn't know) but the service was terrible. read more

Very poor service - went in looking to have dinner at the bar and watch the nhl playoff game but the didn't have any Hockey games on the TVs and when I asked if they would put it on, the bartender was Very rude and I had to ask twice. Also asked for menu so I could order food but sat for over 20 mins before anyone came Back to me. no excuse as there were very few people sitting at the bar. Terrible read more

Wings were delicious, but two of us ordered the fried chicken sandwich expecting all of the toppings when we said we wanted everything on it - bacon, avocado, etc, but when we go it all that was on the sandwich was a semi warm dried piece of fried chicken mayo and pickles. We ordered Puck's delivery and will order again in the future. The avocado salad was large and fresh. We ordered the medium size order of traditional wings and it really was for 2-3 people with the wings being huge, not the typical size wings. The spicy bbq was our favorite but the garlic lemon zest was also really good. Highly recommend trying Pucks! read more
