We ordered the Firecracker Shrimp and Maui Salmon Salad, and both were delicious. The Firecracker Shrimp had great flavor with a nice sweet and savory combination. Despite the name, it wasn't spicy at all, and I could definitely see it pairing really well with a beer or cocktail. The Maui Salmon Salad was my favorite! First time visitor to Yard House from out of town, and what a great establishment with a solid vibe. The atmosphere is exactly what I was hoping for, and it was perfect with a very eclectic music playing throughout. I was helped by Jenni at the bar and she was fantastic. She introduced herself, and didn't skip a beat. I didn't have to wait long to order a beer (of which they have MANY), a she even gave me her opinion on an appetizer choice. Throughout the entire time there she checked on me regularly but not in a way that was almost too much. For my appetizer I had the Four Cheese Spinach Dip, and that was a solid recommendation I took from my bartender. Very glad that I did, great rich taste and not too heavy which was phenomenal. Lastly, I decided to get a pizza since it was happy hour which take note that most if not all their appetizers and pizzas are on the 3-6 PM happy hour menu, so take advantage. I got 'The Carnivore' , and it had a a nice, savory, meaty taste. The pizza was perfectly baked, the dough was fresh and I have NO complaints. From going to corporate events and hanging out with friends, I've gone to Yard House a good amount and always enjoyed the food, but never found it to be super special. My food experience at this location was a bit better than other locations I've tried and makes me excited to come back to try more items. Like other locations, there is plenty of parking and interior resembles a more upscale sports bar. Service is relatively quick despite how busy they are and prices are pretty fair for the quality of food. I started my meal off with Poke Nachos, one of four that I've had in the last few months and this was possibly the best of the bunch. This had a good amount of raw ahi tuna (though a few more chunks would be nice) and added some additional flavors through nori and sesame seeds so that it was a bit less sauce dependent than other versions I've tried. The wontons were super crispy and avocado was nice and creamy. The mix of serranos, white truffle sauce, sweet soy ginger sauce, sriracha aioli, cilantro, and green onions all mixed together to create a great flavor. I was very impressed with the amount of flavor packed into a dish that's only 880 calories. The crispy traditional wings were also cooked nicely, the skin was nice and crispy while the meat was not overcooked. The buffalo sauce was a bit light for me, though good if you aren't looking for something that's too tangy or spicy. The Korean chili garlic had the right level of sweetness mixed with a good amount of garlic flavor and a light level of spiciness. This is one of the better preparations I've had outside of Korean Fried Chicken specialist restaurants. For entrees the Ahi Tuna Crunchy salad is one of the better versions of this dish that I've had as well. The field greens, broccoli slaw, and crispy wontons were a nice base with the soy vinaigrette -- but the star of the dish was the seared rare and blackened ahi tuna. Super flavorful and prepared just right, this was better than the steak I had eaten for lunch and again a very healthy way to pack a lot of flavor into a low number of calories. On the flipside, the kurobata pork sandwich was one of the best sandwiches I've had so far this year. The berkshire pork isn't super fatty, but just enough to have a great level of tenderness and flavor when grilled. The candied bacon, white american cheese, and house-made blueberry ketchup did a fantastic job of adding some saltiness and just a bit of extra fat (without seeming excessive) and giving the dish just a little acid. The total combination worked perfectly in harmony and is worth making a special trip to eat again. I ended the meal with the S'more brownie meltdown. This was done well -- with a nice fudge brownie that had great chocolate flavor and matched perfectly with the graham cracker toffee. This would've been the highlight of the dish, had it not been for the delicious combination of the marshmallow gelato and dark chocolate sauce. I'm not a giant fan of marshmallows, but this gelato was amazing and tied everything together perfectly. Overall, an unexpectedly great experience from a restaurant chain that I've gone to many times. Without a doubt, I know which location to take my friends and family to for special meals in the future. read more

My first impression of this place is that it's huge with a large bar and a lot of tap beer! Our waitress, Debbie, was extremely friendly and personable, we all really liked her. She showed us the electronic menu on the table, which had photos of all the food items on the menu- super helpful! We order the Spicy Tuna Stack and garlic noodles to start, both were delicious. We also ordered the brussels sprouts, which we didn't like at all. We sent them back because they were oily, over sauced, and didn't taste good. For entrees we order the steak bowl, sliders, and Cobb salad with chicken. All were good! Only complaints are that I requested no bacon in my salad but it had bacon anyway, and we requested sweet potato fries with the sliders but received regular. The waitress took care of the fries right away and they did offer to adjust the salad but I kept it and just scooped the bacon out. Rocky the bartender was very friendly and she made the best lavender lemon drop martini I have ever had! The 20 oz ribeye with added grilled shrimp on a skewer was tasty with delicious mashed potatoes and grilled baby broccoli is plenty for 2 people. When I found out that Yard House was coming to Vernon Hills, I was ecstatic. I used to frequent the Yard House in The Glen back when I worked in the area but had not been there in a few years. The regular prices for entrees are imo a bit steep, but it's more or less commiserate with other similar restaurants in the area. If you happen to make it for Happy Hour though, the prices are relatively a great value. In my most recent visit to the Vernon Hills location, we ended up going in the evening on a Saturday and thus no happy hour. My friend and I tried the seared tuna burger, crispy brussel sprouts, poke nachos, and I had some slider dogs for Oktoberfest. Everything was enjoyable but the stand out for me was the seared tuna burger. It was not something I have had before. Typically anything in fish form and in a burger has always been fried for me. The Yard House is a sports bar with a lively atmosphere, huge bar and restaurant offering indoor/outdoor seating and plenty of screens for watching sports. We waited about 30 minutes to be seated, was greeted by a friendly server, placed our order and received it about 40 minutes later. We were told the kitchen staff was new and the server apologized for the delay. Unfortunately, one of our orders was incomplete and the other was incorrect. We were starving so we ate what was served. Then, mistakenly an additional order of tacos was delivered, which was packed up for takeaway. We both ordered tacos, beans and rice, which were pretty tasty. We also tried a specialty cider and a few cocktails which we enjoyed. They offer an impressive selection of beverages, and their beers on tap are incredibly refreshing. The general manager, Joe, went out of his way to greet us and seated us in a great booth.
