Love this place! I'm writing this review as I am traveling in Brussels (getting really disappointed in the chocolates that I got today). Totally miss the chocolate at Puccini. I had the hazelnut ganache and it was very good. The chocolate was smooth and just mildly sweet. I prefer this place over any other places I have tried so far in Brussels. I cannot wait to be back and get more to bring home to my friends!

EXCELLENT CHOCOLATIER! A MUST TRY! Navigating our way back to our hotel near Leidsplein, we were walking around the little streets and alleyways and came across this chocolate shop by luck. We walked in out of curiosity and with no intent to purchase. After chatting with the proprietor and giving me a sample, I was sold and had to purchase chocolates for myself. The chocolate was nothing like I've tasted before, specifically Dutch chocolate. I am all too familiar with Swiss, Belgian, French and American. There was a richness, not overly sweet taste to their artisan chocolates. The ganache was perfectly creamy--smooth taste, melting in your mouth. This was probably the best chocolate I've eaten in a long time. My personal favorite were the plum and the cranberry chocolates, both dark. The dried fruit is chopped and mixed into the ganache--every bite had a bit of fruit. Each piece was 3€, but it was worth it! I wished I could bring a box home with me (to the U.S), but I was in the middle of my trip and didn't want to risk the chance of it melting at my next destination. So all I have is the memory. Sadly, the only ship within the EU and so even shipment to the U.S. is not possible. Chocolate: 5 Service: 5 Ambience: 5

These chocolates are exquisite!!! They have such unique flavors and the lady working was so helpful with recommendations! This place was one of the top 10 chocolatiers by National Geographic so naturally I had to try them!!! Thank goodness I don't live near or I'd be a very regular visitor!!!

Our small box of chocolates fit 8 delicious pieces. They are bigger than expected but helps with the sticker shock a little.

Great looking selection and they were rather large chocolates. I only give 5 stars if the product and the service was amazing. Though the woman was nice enough, I felt like there was room for a little more pleasantness. I never like to feel like I'm bothering someone when I buy their product. Great neighborhood to walk around in as well.

Let me brag about my Dutch-Indonesian mother. She's 85 now, but when she was younger she was god's gift to the wadjan (wok). Her crispy fried chicken was one of her signature dishes. She rubbed the chicken thighs with a sweet-sour paste of tamarind, a fruit from the tamarind tree, before frying them. Another dish to die for: ajam opor, chicken in coconut milk flavoured with sereh (lemon grass). Such a refined taste, ideal to match with one of her vegetable dishes with a touch of ginger. Tamarind, sereh and ginger are essential to the cuisine that Dutch Indonesians brought to The Netherlands. They are linked to a period they refer to as tempo doeloe, those good old days. Looking for the ultimate finale of a Dutch-Indonesian dinner? Make it coffee with a selection - tamarind, sereh, ginger - of Puccini chocolates, the most prestigious chocolates in town and handmade by one of the 10 best chocolatiers of the world according to National Geographic.

Not understanding the supersized bombons or the fillings. Not worth the price, even for the size.

Before I get into the shop itself, The wife and I need to note the owner and hostess. She is, without a doubt, the nicest person we've ever encountered in any shop, restaurant or store. She truly cares about her wares, and seems to care in turn about your experience and that you be happy while you are there; if anyone ever earns the designation "hostess" it is her. For lack of a better descriptive, she is grandmotherly in the best way. My wife would insist (and I would agree) to give this shop five stars based on her service alone, even if the shop was drab and the chocolates mediocre. Fortunately, neither is the case. The chocolates are universally excellent and artisinally produced. She sells them in packaged form to take with you and savor in your home; however she also prepares a hot chocolate for you to enjoy in the shop or on the go, and it is incredibly rich without being too sweet. While not exactly inexpensive, it is also more than in-line with high end chocolates in Europe. What about the store itself? Well, the sense that our hostess belongs in a Harry Potter book as a kindly, magical shopkeeper is enhanced by the store's appearance. It radiates warmth as it is filled with chocolate-related antiques and knickknacks, charming designed displays and shelves overstuffed with quaintly designed sweets packaging. But make no mistake: the shop itself is meticulously clean and neat. As you can tell, I and my wife could gush about this shop for a long while. But I'll leave you with: go visit and say hello.

When I mentioned to Debbie that I lived nearby the store she said, "that's dangerously close." That wasn't a tease nor a threat but an observation and she was right and knew it. She did say that with a grin on her face... So.....I had to check this out. Sure enough Debbie's excitement and enthusiasm for chocolate I could feel from outside as I gazed upon her grin from outside the store. It's a small boutique shop on a backstreet in the Jordaan area near the 9 streets on what is considered the 10th street in addition to the 9 streets. It has all different kinds of chocolate in all the nooks and crannies as well as books about chocolate interspersed throughout. There is a coffee machine/espresso machine and.....they offer tasters. Yep yep they sure do....tasters, samples....There is a long table with seats where they hold tasting sessions for groups, prearranged for 8-11 people with a choice on what kind of chocolate, be it dark, milk chocolate or whatever. They also have tasting events that they advertise via their newsletter. You can sign up for the newsletter on their website. It's hard not to get excited about chocolate when you are in the company of people whose passion and love for it is so strong and so pure. I'm envious. Debbie had me fascinated with how much she knew and how deep her passion is for chocolate. It's truly amazing. I wanted to know more and had/have myriad questions but didn't want to take up her time. She was only too glad to answer my questions. She more than answered my questions with an impressive fluidity of knowledge.Being expert in her subject she was excited that someone else was interested to hear about and learn more. I'll just have to stop in more often to ask more questions and to learn more. I love having such a cool store so near to hang out at and to enjoy some chocolate along with an enthusiastic person sharing interesting information about it. Huge kudos to the owners of the store and to Debbie! I'll be back.

The store portion has a large table with samples of nearly all of the bars. We sampled almost all of them -- what, we should just guess what they taste like?! (Usability note: the glass bottles that house the samples are not ideal; the opening is small and you can easily imagine a number of hands and fingers touching the spot where the samples come out.) In the back of the shop is, from what we could tell, their main factory, and they were busy churning out chocolates. Plus, near the register, there are chocolates by the pound. Yes, we got one of those as well. As we explored other shops in the city, we saw other chocolates and realized that Urban Cacao does white label production for many of them.
