I am going to preface this by saying that I don't really eat much sugar, and that I don't seem to be able to distinguish between good sweets and bad sweets (e.g., I think bread pudding is one of the better desserts, which my sweets-loving wife calls 'disgusting'). That said, my wife insisted that I bring back chocolates from a recent trip to Amsterdam, which lead me to Chocolate Ganache. Also, the wife says that the chocolates are delicious. I didn't try any of them.
This review is mostly about my experience buying the chocolates. When I arrived (~7pm at night), the shop was devoid of customers but still open. As soon as you enter, you're looking at an amazing cornucopia of bonbons on the table in front of you.
I was greeted by the shopkeeper, a friendly woman. She asked me what I was looking for, and I explained that I was there to buy a gift for my wife. I told her that I didn't really know what to buy except that my wife liked chocolate. She asked me how much I wanted to spend, then she asked me a few things about my wife's preferences, and finally suggested some things to buy. I basically trusted her completely. Seems to have worked out great. If this place were not thousands of miles from home, I'd probably go back for future gifts. read more
