Yup, that's mold!
Camilla J.

Three and a half hour after delivery I still have not heard back from Publix delivery or Instacart. I gave a 15% tip hoping that the person putting my order together at least would glance at the fresh items before bagging them but... obviously nope. I was hoping Publix would get back to me and offer some non moldy strawberries, but nothing. I have been in the app and on the website looking for an easy way to get in contact with them but it's set up to send you around and around. When sending my 2star review minutes after delivery I got a message they would get in contact with me but so far no call and no email. Just FYI, don't order anything you really need! Unless you are willing to go to the store and fix your order. But I guess you don't or can't and that's the reason you used them in the first place. Better stick with Amazone and Whole Foods I guess. Oh! Also, you buy things for $134 but they charge your card for $150 for a week...? What am I ? Publix bank??

Fees and the unexpected authorization.

This is a very nice Publix, which is to say, a Publix. The reason I'm doing a review today is because they offered free delivery through their app and I tried it out. Here are my thoughts: Only one item wasn't found. The app does give you the ability to chat with the shopper and to take an alternative if they say they can't find it. I told the shopper not to do any alternatives so the amount came off my final total. Everything arrived *close* to on time. It was over by about 20 minutes. No big deal and the app told me as well. But I only ordered a few items to test this. If I had a big order this would have been an issue. My items were all perishables. They were still cool, but not cold. This location isn't far from my home but I thought this would come in a cold bag. The price for delivery was pretty high. First, I am almost certain some of these items were higher priced than when I shop myself. Maybe $0.50 per item. Publix does change pricing a lot but I've never seen these prices and I ordered stuff I almost always do from them. So I believe there is a process markup. Then there is a delivery fee of $3.99-5.99. There is also a 5% handling charge to Instacart. There is also a tip for the shopper. And in the end for $50 in groceries you could be looking at $10 easy in fees and tip. If that's a good deal to you then cool. But I'm thinking the fees and tip could easily top 20%. Very small and very large orders aren't a great deal, IMO. I may use this again if I can't get to the store. But probably only in emergencies. UPDATE: I've confirmed that prices are higher for Instacart than in store because I returned a couple items that were bad. I got less refund than the charges (a couple sausages were $6.99 in store and $7.75 via the app.) Publix could not match what I was charged. I contacted Instacart and they offered me a discount on my next order. Not sure how they came to the amount offered. Be aware of this.

This was my first time ever going to a BJs and it was a pretty cool experience to go into a large…read moreretail store you've never been inside. They have a massive selection of everything you would expect from a Costco/Sam's Club adjacent business. I'm not sure what truly separates BJs and gives it the edge over those two, besides the location. Maybe that's their angle, because it's quite a drive to either of those two other chains I mentioned before if you live in La Vergne. I wasn't overly impressed, but they definitely caught my attention with a couple things. The selection of proteins wasn't as good as Costco, but they had a lot more variety in the freezer section. The deli is a bonus and helps to eliminate extra stops. When walking the isles, I noticed there was a lot of product where it wasn't supposed to be and open product laying on the shelves. Jumping outside, the gas station situation is awful. Only one row of pumps and the queue is a nightmare during a rush.

They need to improve on customer service immediately. They have no disability training. I was…read moredenied access to the motorized carts by an employee due to invisible disabilities and my age. He approached me and asked if I had a problem with my feet. I don't so I said no, he then proceeded to tell me very adamantly that I wasn't allowed to use the cart unless I had something wrong with my feet. I left and had my sister speak with a manager who said he would talk to him but also defended his actions once again due to my age. The way these events played out was downright unacceptable and shameful to the company. I hope no one else has to experience this kind of embarrassment and I encourage BJs to improve their team.
